Time Travel Marriage

Time Travel Marriage

It was the second day of the fourth lunar month in late spring. The peach blossoms were brightly displayed on the branches, but suddenly a gust of wind blew, and the petals fell all over the ground.

A procession of carriages and horses slowly passed by, accompanied by deafening gongs and drums, shattering the scorching heat on the ground.

Pedestrians and vendors spontaneously made way for the festive procession, and then gathered around to watch as the exquisite bridal sedan chair passed by.

"Tell me, whose daughter is getting married?"

"I don't know, I haven't heard of any powerful or wealthy family in Mingzhou getting married today, but look at this spectacle..."

The procession was grand and impressive, with servants escorting the procession, children scattering flowers, and the sedan chair adorned with fresh flowers and colorful beads—all items belonging to wealthy families.

A woman approached and said, "I heard from the people on South Street that they saw this sedan chair being carried out of the Qiu family's residence."

"The Qiu family? Then the person in this sedan chair is Miss Qiu! Who is she going to marry?"

"The man on horseback at the front of the group looks like Young Master Xie from the Yong'an Marquis's mansion."

"But isn't the Yong'an Marquis's mansion in ruins?" a tall, thin man holding a folding fan asked.

"Hey, even a starved camel is bigger than a horse. If she won't marry into the Marquis's family, does she expect her to marry you?" the woman said, glancing at him.

The tall, thin man shook his head violently upon hearing this. The young lady from the Qiu family was beautiful, but her temperament and character… he was truly unworthy of her. However, he had heard that Miss Qiu had always been in love with the Crown Prince; how could she suddenly be willing to marry someone else…

The bright red sedan chair quickly passed Guanglu Avenue and turned into the alley.

As they turned the corner, the sedan chair bearers on the inside slowed down a beat, causing the sedan chair to lose its balance and shake violently.

Amidst the shaking, Lin Yi suddenly woke up.

The first thing I saw was a red cloth covering her face, and the sound of suona horns filled my ears.

Who got married?

The unfamiliar setting made Lin Yi react a beat too late. She vaguely remembered being in a lab mixing medicine. What was going on? Was it a dream or...?

She hesitated before reaching out to lift the veil covering her face.

But the swaying sedan chair suddenly stopped. A woman's voice called out through the chair, "Miss, we have arrived at the Xie residence."

Lin Yi paused as she lifted the veil, then pinched her arm instead. It hurt; she wasn't dreaming.

The sedan chair landed softly, and Lin Yi remained seated without moving. After a short while, a soft laugh reached his ears.

The laughter was very soft, yet its unrestrained and arrogant tone was easily discernible. Immediately, a hand parted the sedan curtain and reached out towards her.

"Madam, please get out of the sedan chair." As she watched that well-proportioned, fair hand open towards her, Lin Yi thought to herself, "It's too late to run now."

Lin Yi hesitated for a moment before slowly placing her hand on her long eyelashes.

The moment their hands touched, a strong force pulled her towards him. Lin Yi couldn't see the man's face because her head was covered by a bridal veil, but she could see a section of his waist through the edge of the veil. The red silk was embroidered with gold and silver threads, and the waist wrapped in a sash had a smooth and upright waistline. Lin Yi breathed a sigh of relief; thankfully, he wasn't a burly, wealthy merchant.

The force pulled her down from the bridal sedan chair, across the gate of the mansion, and then released her hand.

The joyful music abruptly stopped outside the mansion gate.

The master of ceremonies drew out his words and shouted to the heavens, "First bow to Heaven—"

Lin Yi was led to bow to the east.

"Bowing twice—"

Another bow.

"Three bows as husband and wife, may our hearts be forever united, our affection enduring—"

"The ceremony is complete—"

The three bows ended hastily, and Lin got up. Just as she was about to stand up, she suddenly saw a face stick out from under her veil, tilting its head and looking at her curiously.

Lin Yi was so startled that he jumped to the side, but was firmly supported by a pair of hands.

She had barely regained her balance when those hands quickly withdrew, as if the owner of the hands was utterly disgusted with her.

"Xie Chengfeng, stop fooling around." The voice was clear and vigorous, but the tone contained a hint of reproach and helplessness. It was none other than her "husband" with whom she had just completed the wedding ceremony.

It's really strange. On the wedding day, there was no banquet for guests, and the rituals were incomplete. How could they bow to heaven and earth but not to their parents? Even though Lin Yi had never seen an ancient wedding, he knew that this marriage was rather hasty.

As for the man she married, she didn't even know his name... But that's not quite right either, this is the Xie residence, so that person should be surnamed Xie.

After the ceremony, Lin Yi was helped into the bridal chamber by a maid.

The maid led her to sit down on the edge of the bed. Before leaving, she looked at Lin Yi for a moment and whispered, "Congratulations on your marriage, Miss."

"Wait—" Lin Yi called out to her, "Are you from the Xie family?"

"Miss, what are you saying? I am Xueya, and I have been serving you all along."

Lin Yi felt a little guilty. She had only wanted to take the opportunity to get some information, but she hadn't expected to almost expose herself. She mumbled, "It's you. I'm a little dizzy, I didn't recognize you."

Xueya looked at her with concern, but she couldn't see anything through the handkerchief. "Miss, are you alright? Should I go and ask the young master to come and take a look?"

"No need! You may leave."

The door was gently closed, and after sitting for a while to make sure no one would come in anytime soon, Lin Yi reached out and lifted the veil.

The beams, doors, and windows were all adorned with red silk, red candles flickered on the table, and the bed curtains and even the sheets beneath him were all bright red, as vivid as blood. Lin Yi felt a jolt and sat up abruptly.

What exactly happened? Why did she suddenly come here?

She was 24 years old this year, originally a second-year graduate student in forensic medicine in the 21st century, before the incident...

That day was no different from any other day.

After finishing two anatomy classes, Lin Yi noted down the key points that needed to be reviewed, then packed up his things and headed to the cafeteria, declining the invitations from his senior classmates to have a meal together.

She didn't have many friends growing up, but fortunately, forensic medicine isn't a profession that requires much interpersonal interaction. Every day, she was either with her mentor or with anatomical models, and occasionally she would go to the scene to learn from forensic examinations. Although studying medicine is somewhat tedious, and forensic medicine is even more so, this was a great advantage for someone like her who wasn't good at socializing.

It wasn't lunchtime yet, and the cafeteria wasn't crowded. Lin Yi occupied a table by himself, and while eating, he opened Green Literature City and clicked on the novel called "Mountains and Rivers and You".

This is a fairly standard ancient romance novel, filled with misunderstandings and melodramatic plots about pursuing one's wife. It's not Lin Yi's type, and if it weren't for her best friend Tian Tian's strong recommendation, she would never have read it.

She has few friends, and this is the only one she can be considered close to. They've kept in touch since they met in high school. They often meet up for meals and shopping, sharing the novels and dramas they're currently watching.

Whenever Lin Yi recommends mind-bending suspense movies to others, he always waves his hand in refusal. But when others recommend mindless novels to him, even if he's not interested, Lin Yi will still read them one by one and then discuss with her the "deeply moving" characters and plots.

Those who are favored are often fearless, but Lin Yi dares not. Love is a luxury for her; she only has this one good friend. She cares too much about him and will always unconsciously try to please him.

Lin Yi skimmed through the pages, quickly grasping the story's essence. Set in a fictional dynasty, the story revolves around a military family's daughter and the crown prince, childhood sweethearts separated by a conspiracy. Years later, they reunite, and the daughter begs the crown prince to clear her name. However, due to the political climate, the prince refuses. Adding to the misunderstanding, a supporting character deliberately frames them, leading to a tumultuous journey of love, hate, and revenge.

Lin Yi wasn't interested in any of that, but he was particularly interested in the female supporting character named Qiu Qingye. Despite coming from a family of doctors, she insisted on poisoning people and causing death. Because she had a crush on the male lead, she became a villain, framing, poisoning, publicly insulting, and even sowing discord. She really did a good job of getting herself killed.

Lin Yi scrolled to the comments section of the chapter where Qiu Qing also appeared, and as expected, it was filled with insults.

[This female supporting character is too wicked! I hope she finishes filming soon and is written out of the story at the end of the chapter!]

I need to see the dentist; she's so mean, it makes my teeth itch!

[Could the author please stop creating such a brainless and disgusting character just to make things difficult for the protagonist?]

That's really bad. Lin Yi moved his finger and liked those comments.

Mindless, lighthearted novels have a magical power that makes them irresistible. Lin ate his lunch while reading, absentmindedly finishing his meal. Back in the lab, he couldn't resist reading dozens more chapters.

Who wouldn't want to see the wicked tea girl reap what she sows? In order to see Qiu Qingye get her comeuppance, Lin Yi read the whole book and finally got to see her various acts exposed and despised by the male protagonist, and she eventually died in prison in hatred.

How refreshing! Lin Yi let out a long sigh of relief and watched silently for several hours. When she came to her senses, she realized she was a little thirsty, so she picked up the water glass on the table and drank it all in one gulp.

She put down the cup and then realized something was wrong.

Her usual mug, full of water, lay untouched to the side, while the measuring cup she had just set down was empty... What was in it again?

Lin Yi tried hard to recall, but her consciousness became blurred. She felt as if she had fallen heavily to the ground, but she could not feel any pain.

When I opened my eyes again, I was inside the bridal sedan chair.

Lin Yi finally remembered that what she had drunk was a solution of formaldehyde mixed with sodium nitrite.

Upon arriving here, she heard two names: Xie Chengfeng and Xueya. She remembered these were characters from the novel "Mountains and Rivers with You." So, the gist of the situation was that she had transmigrated into an ancient romance novel she had just read and had married someone from the Xie family.

Lin Yi racked her brains, but she couldn't recall any story in the book about anyone marrying into the Xie family. However… Xueya, wasn't she Qiu Qingye's maid?

Could it be that she transmigrated into the body of Qiu Qingye, the most hated and vicious female supporting character in the entire book?!

This conjecture was so terrifying that Lin Yi gasped, his blood freezing for a moment.

A crackling sound of electricity rang out, and a mechanical voice spoke in her ear: "Hello, host. Welcome to the Time-Space Rift. This is the world of the novel 'Mountains and Rivers with You'."

Sure enough. Lin only hoped that her other guess wouldn't come true.

[I'm sorry, you guessed correctly. Your current identity is the villainous and reckless female supporting character, the only daughter of the Qiu family, Qiu Qingye.]

Lin Yi looked up at the sky helplessly, his face filled with utter despair.

[Host, is there anything you'd like to say?]

The mechanical voice was devoid of emotion, yet Lin Yi detected a hint of pity within it.

"have."

Please speak.

"I want to go home!!!"
