Chapter 132 King of the Mandrill

The group of over a hundred people continued deeper into the primeval forest. With Pipi's assistance, Zhang Shi and the others soon encountered another group of mandrills. Having experienced the previous battle, Zhang Shi had gained some understanding of these beasts, making the subsequent battle much simpler. Zhang Shi and Zhao Feng continuously engaged the mandrill leader, and with the soldiers' muskets working in coordination, they quickly wiped out most of the ordinary mandrills.

Then Zhang Shi would continuously draw the attention of the mountain demon leader, while the soldiers used ranged means such as muskets and bows and arrows to wear down the opponent's strength. When the opponent was exhausted, Zhang Shi and Zhao Feng would then rush in and deliver a fatal blow.

The elite monsters in this secret realm seem to have a fixed drop rate, and the loot they drop is the same as the previous mountain demon leader: a token and a kilogram of monkey wine.

This vast forest, with its excellent habitat, has created a paradise for wild animals. After spending the morning collecting four tokens of the mandrill, Zhang Shi prepared to find an open space to summon the boss.

Sunlight filtered through the sparse canopy of trees, dappling the ground and adding an ominous air to this area that was about to become a battlefield.

Holding the old Duan sword, Zhang Shi's eyes were resolute. He slowly took out the four tokens, and a strange power arranged them into a special pattern. Under the constant influence of the spiritual energy array, Zhang Shi could vaguely sense the summoning array patterns on the mountain demon tokens.

As the tokens were arranged, an ancient and mysterious aura began to permeate the air, as if something was being awakened from a distant time and space.

"Everyone, prepare for battle!"

Zhang Shi's voice was deep and powerful. The soldiers quickly adjusted their formation, reloaded their ammunition, and the cavalrymen mounted their horses, their eyes blazing as they intently watched the approaching enemy.

Suddenly, the ground began to tremble, and the surrounding trees seemed to sense some kind of threat, their branches rustling as if trembling in anticipation of the approaching storm. Then, a deafening roar shattered the forest's tranquility, and a colossal beast, as large as a Titan zombie, covered in black fur, its eyes gleaming with an eerie green light, burst forth from the void—the King of the Mountain Demons!

The appearance of the King of Mandrills seemed to freeze the entire space. Its body was even more robust than the previous Mandrill leader, and it exuded a chilling aura. It surveyed its surroundings, its nose twitching as it caught the scent of its own kind in the air, before finally fixing its gaze on Zhang Shi, its eyes filled with rage and killing intent.

Zhang Shi shouted and took the initiative, his figure flashing out instantly, aiming straight for the back of the mountain demon king's head. Old Duan drew a silver trajectory in the air, carrying a sharp blade wind, aiming straight for the mountain demon king's neck.

Although the King of Mandrills was enormous, its reflexes were incredibly fast. With a slap of its massive hand, it narrowly missed Zhang Shi, creating a gust of wind. Zhang Shi used the momentum to flip in mid-air and landed steadily, while the King of Mandrills let out an even more ferocious roar, its body pressing down on Zhang Shi like a mountain.

Seeing this, Zhao Feng joined the battle without hesitation. He wielded his giant axe, each strike carrying the power to split mountains and shatter rocks, and engaged in close combat with the king of the mountain demons.

The soldiers fired muskets and arrows from a distance. Although these attacks only caused superficial wounds to the king of the mountain demons, its enormous size made it a sitting duck in the open area, and the accumulating injuries made it increasingly ferocious.

The battle entered a fierce stage. Zhang Shi and Zhao Feng cooperated tacitly, with one taking the lead in the attack and the other providing support, constantly trying to find a weakness in the King of the Mountain Demons.

The King of the Mandrills, being a rare-level boss, possesses intelligence far exceeding that of ordinary beasts. It immediately recognized the power of the cleaver in Zhang Shi's hand and, not daring to confront him directly, turned to cause trouble for Zhao Feng.

With its immense strength and regenerative abilities, the King of the Mountain Demons relentlessly suppressed Zhao Feng. Each attack was enough to kill an ordinary soldier. Zhao Feng did not overestimate his abilities and confront it head-on. Instead, he kept dodging and was already drenched in sweat after just a few rounds.

At the critical moment, Pipi once again played a crucial role. It leaped out of the White Tiger Space, transforming into a streak of light, and shot straight into the eyes of the Mountain Demon King. The Mountain Demon King, in pain, roared repeatedly, and its movements became sluggish.

Zhang Shi seized the opportunity, his figure flashing once more. Old Duan moved like lightning, this time aiming directly at the back of the Mountain Demon King.

Suddenly, a large hand swept across and slapped towards Zhang Shi. The King of the Mountain Demons immediately calmed down, opened his bloodshot eyes, turned to look at Zhang Shi with a cold gaze, as if he were looking at a dead ant.

At the critical moment, Zhang Shi's body suddenly turned into a black shadow, and the King of the Mountain Demons' giant hand slapped it into a black mist that dissipated into the world, leaving the King of the Mountain Demons puzzled.

At the same time, Zhang Shi, having completed his teleportation, used the Instant Shadow Step to flash into the air behind it. Taking advantage of the Mountain Demon King's opening, Zhang Shi delivered a powerful split, landing steadily on the ground. Old Duan penetrated deep into the Mountain Demon King's body, leaving a huge wound on its back.

The king of the mandrills, in pain and anger, swung his fist backward, but Zhang Shi, having landed a blow, had already retreated to a safe distance. Zhao Feng, worried that the king's rampage would affect him, also retreated and gave a hand signal to the soldiers.

Upon receiving the order, the soldiers who were positioned nearby quickly switched to bows and arrows loaded with explosives and unleashed a volley of arrows at the king of the mandrills.

Driven mad by pain, the king of the mandrill lunged at Zhang Shi recklessly, exposing its back to the soldiers. Sharp arrows struck its back precisely, piercing its tough hide and exploding, leaving its back a bloody, charred mess.

The King of the Mandrill let out a mournful howl and staggered to his knees. Zhang Shi seized the opportunity and flashed behind it again, intending to deliver a fatal blow. Unexpectedly, the King of the Mandrill was still plotting against him.

The moment he appeared, the other person turned around, clasped his iron hands together, and tried to crush him like a mosquito.

Fortunately, the time had been long enough for Zhang Shi's Shadow Step to accumulate two layers of energy. Zhang Shi instantly flashed behind Zhao Feng, narrowly dodging the attack.

"Damn it, this monkey's got a lot of tricks up his sleeve!"

After struggling with it for a while, Zhao Feng felt somewhat exhausted and only recovered after taking a big gulp of monkey wine.

The mandrill king's wounds were not light, and his staggering earlier was not feigned. At this moment, the musketeers replaced the archers and launched a second volley. The mandrill king quickly stood up and retreated, and as if by magic, while running, he took out a huge sheepskin bag from his waist and solemnly poured an unknown liquid into his mouth.

"Is it drinking monkey liquor too?"
