Chapter 25 Dealing with the Wolf Pack

The wolf king was blocked outside the cave by wood and stones that appeared out of nowhere, and desperately attacked the obstacles with its sharp claws. Unfortunately, Zhang Shi was rich and powerful, and the materials piled up at the cave entrance were several layers deep, making it impossible to break through in a short time.

Inside the hall, Pipi used his speed advantage to hold off the three wolf cubs for quite some time. As soon as Zhang Shi appeared, the three wolf cubs immediately changed their target and charged towards him.

Zhang Shi glanced at the claw marks on Pipi's body, his anger surged, his expression became fierce, he drew his bone bow and fired three shots at the attacking wolf cub.

"Whoosh~"

Zhang Shi used arrows with fletching, which greatly improved the speed and accuracy of the arrows.

The wolf pups charging at the front tried to twist their bodies to dodge as before, but before they could make a move, they found that the arrows had already flown to their faces.

"Pfft, pfft, pfft!"

Three arrows pierced the wolf cub's head simultaneously. The wolf cub only had time to let out a muffled groan before collapsing to the ground, motionless.

Seeing the sudden change in the situation, the other two wolf cubs stopped in their tracks, not daring to rush forward.

Zhang Shi remained calm, took out an arrow, nocked it, and aimed at one of the wolf cubs. However, the cave was dimly lit, and Zhang Shi couldn't see clearly. Now that the wolf cub was on guard, he dared not make a move rashly.

Pipi, following behind, became the key to breaking the deadlock. Like a bolt of lightning, it suddenly darted out and pecked the wolf cub's hind leg. The wolf cub, in pain, turned to retaliate. Pipi, having landed its blow, immediately retreated, leaving the wolf cub empty-handed.

Seeing an opportunity, Zhang Shi decisively aimed at the wolf cub and released the bowstring.

The arrow flashed in the dim firelight, piercing straight into the wolf cub's head and pinning it to the ground.

With a single arrow, another wolf cub was killed. Zhang Shi's confidence soared, and he moved closer to the last wolf cub. Seeing its companion's tragic death, the wolf cub tried to retreat, but Pipi blocked its path. Caught between a rock and a hard place, it could only let out anxious cries for help from the wolf king.

Hearing the cubs' cries, the wolf king became even more anxious and attacked the obstacles, but it didn't change anything.

Zhang Shi followed the same method, working in perfect harmony with Pipi to take down the last wolf cub.

Zhang Shi checked Pipi's condition and found that it only had some scratches and was not seriously injured.

The man and the dog approached the obstacle at the cave entrance. Hearing the commotion, the wolf king became even more agitated.

Pipi hid to the side, warily watching the obstacles. Zhang Shi, on the other hand, calculated the distance, nocked the arrow, and drew the bone bow to a full moon.

Seeing that the time was right, Zhang Shi decisively put the materials back into his backpack, and the obstacles blocking the cave disappeared instantly.

One second the wolf king was diligently digging stones on a pile of wood, the next second he lost his footing and fell to the ground.

Zhang Shi's eyes narrowed, and he released the bowstring at the right moment. The arrow shot towards the wolf king with a whooshing sound.

Unlike ordinary wolf cubs, the wolf king shrank back and dodged the fatal arrow mid-air. Even so, it was grazed by the sharp arrowhead, leaving a bloody gash on its body.

The arrow, stained with the wolf king's blood-stained fur, struck the stone wall, its tip piercing the wall and embedding itself in the cave.

The wolf king, wounded and enraged, unleashed its speed-enhancing skill once more. A surge of blue light erupted from its body, and in an instant, it pounced on Zhang Shi.

Although Zhang Shi was on guard, the cave was too narrow for him to escape. He could only hold the bone bow horizontally in front of him, which conveniently blocked the wolf king's gaping maw.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Pipi circled around behind the wolf king, bit its big tail, and pulled it backward.

The wolf king, in pain, abandoned Zhang Shi and turned to attack Pipi.

Although Pipi is of the same rank as Wolf King, the size difference is too great, and he will be at a disadvantage in a head-on confrontation.

Seeing the wolf king turn around, Pipi quickly retreated, maintaining a safe distance from the wolf king.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Zhang Shi stood up, drew Lao Duan, and stared intently at the Wolf King.

The man and the dog, working in perfect unison, once again surrounded their prey. Zhang Shi also revealed a hint of ruthlessness, gripping Lao Duan tightly, holding him horizontally in front of him, and slowly pacing forward.

Seeing the situation was dire, the wolf king let out a long howl. Its entire body erupted with a powerful blue light, far more intense than the previous two. Zhang Shi guessed it was going to fight desperately and quickly shouted to Pipi to be careful.

The wolf king gathered enough power, and its body transformed into a blue streak of light as it rushed towards Pipi.

Pipi didn't dare to confront the wolf king head-on, so he dodged to the side.

The blue streak of light did not stop; after passing Pipi, it rushed towards the cave entrance and disappeared a moment later.

Zhang Shi was stunned for a moment before realizing that the Wolf King had run away, and he felt a surge of anger.

"Damn it! I actually got tricked by this beast."

Pipi trotted over and circled around Zhang Shi. Seeing that he was alright, Pipi felt relieved and turned to guard the cave entrance to prevent the wolf king from launching a surprise attack.

Zhang Shi breathed a sigh of relief, rolled up his trouser leg, and checked his leg injury.

Sure enough, his calf was injured again, but fortunately the gray wolf didn't tear it like the black bear did, so the wound wasn't large.

Zhang Shi bandaged his injured leg, treated it temporarily, and then quickly gathered up his spoils.

This time, Zhang Shi dealt with 5 gray wolves and gained a total of:

30kg (white) wolf meat x5

[Grey Wolf Pelt (White) x5]

After collecting the arrows, it was getting late, so Zhang Shi took Pipi and prepared to return to the shelter.

As you pass by the cave entrance, take the opportunity to retrieve the arrow that was embedded in the rock wall.

Zhang Shi then noticed that there was a tuft of hair on it.

Zhang Shi had a flash of inspiration, took out the hunter's notebook, and placed the wolf king's fur on the page.

The fur disappeared as soon as it touched the page. A wolf's head symbol appeared on the page, far away from the red dot representing Zhang Shi. It seemed the wolf king had gone back to his den to recuperate.

Zhang Shi was relieved. He took out his bicycle, put Pipi on the back, and drove smoothly back to the stone house.

As sunset approached, the wind and snow intensified, turning the wilderness into a blanket of white. A thick layer of snow had accumulated, and the temperature continued to drop.

Zhang Shi returned to the stone house, lit the fireplace, and finally felt a bit of warmth.

"It's so cold!"

Zhang Shi stomped his feet while rubbing his earlobes.

He's still wearing the sneakers he wore when he traveled from another time, braving the wind and snow to keep going, his feet are practically numb with cold.

He cut off a large piece of wolf meat, added water and salt. Zhang Shi was too tired, so he simply cooked a pot of meat soup for dinner.

The fireplace warmed the entire stone house. Zhang Shi took off his leather pants and disinfected his wounds with alcohol before finally relaxing. He lay on the bed, recalling his fight with the wolves that day.

"If it weren't for Pipi, I would have turned into a pile of wolf poop today."

Holding Pipi affectionately in his arms, Zhang Shi gently stroked Pipi's smooth fur.

Pipi wagged its tail happily, squinted its eyes, and looked very comfortable.

After an afternoon of life-or-death struggle, Zhang Shi's understanding of the dangers of the wilderness world has deepened.
