Chapter 211 A New Crisis

Before the winged monster even landed, Huo Xiuxiu had already reached out her hand. An invisible vortex of energy coiled around her arm, ready to tear the monster apart the moment it hit the ground.

"Don't kill him, spare him alive!"

At the critical moment, Zhang Shi spoke up to stop her. Huo Xiuxiu frowned, but still held back, withdrawing her vortex and replacing it with a dozen ghostly hands that firmly controlled the winged monster that had fallen to the ground, rendering it unable to move.

What are you going to do now?

Zhang Shi quickly approached the monster and severed its tendons in a few moves with Lao Duan's sword, then removed the contract ring from its finger.

"This birdman has sharp eyes; he can even see through the fog. Catching him won't be easy, so we can't waste this opportunity."

After saying this, Zhang Shi held Lao Duan to the winged monster's neck and tried to coerce and entice it, wanting it to obediently submit and give up its resistance. However, Zhang Shi underestimated the monster's will. Despite having a knife pressed against its neck, it did not yield at all and continued to struggle violently. If it weren't for the large number of ghost hands, it might have actually broken free.

Zhang Shi sighed, knowing that the contract route was a dead end, and could only shake his head helplessly at Huo Xiuxiu.

Seeing this, Huo Xiuxiu showed no mercy. With a flick of her finger, a finger hole appeared on the winged monster's head, instantly killing it.

Surprisingly, an item dropped after the winged monster died.

Zhang Shi was both surprised and delighted. Since entering the City of Mist, creatures like the winged monsters had no rank or grade; Zhang Shi couldn't even discern their names or characteristics, let alone the loot from killing them. Each exploration only yielded meager experience points. This was the first time he'd ever gotten something like this as a loot drop. Furthermore, after returning to Huo Family Village, Zhang Shi lost the system's assistance and even missed several days of daily check-ins. Now, with this sudden drop, Zhang Shi had a feeling that this item must be crucial in helping him escape his predicament.

Zhang Shi glanced at Huo Xiuxiu, who nonchalantly waved her hand at him. Zhang Shi then smiled and put the prop into his pocket. Upon closer inspection, he was overjoyed.

[Titanium Alloy Enhanced Vision Card (Pink): Significantly enhances eyesight after use, allowing you to see through parts of the fog (for animals, orcs, and druids only)]

Zhang Shi was immediately excited when he saw the effect of the item. With this, the chances of everyone escaping the fog increased significantly. However, the item was restricted to certain races, but this did not deter Zhang Shi. With a thought, he released Pipi from the White Tiger space.

Previously, Zhang Shi hadn't dared to let Pipi venture out because he was worried that the Misty World was too dangerous. Now that it had a chance to prove itself, he no longer kept it confined.

As soon as Pipi came out, he cautiously observed his surroundings. After seeing that there was no danger, he turned his gaze to Huo Xiuxiu.

It first sniffed at Huo Xiuxiu's skirt, then circled around her, finally giving her a puzzled look. Huo Xiuxiu, unusually, squatted down and reached out to tease Pipi. Pipi leaned over and licked her fingers, then happily wagged its tail and pounced on her.

Zhang Shi observed everything and said thoughtfully to Huo Xiuxiu.

"It seems Pipi really likes you."

Huo Xiuxiu ignored him, and after teasing Pipi for a while, she dragged it to Zhang Shi's side.

"Let's take care of business first. There's still time. If we're lucky, we can reach the edge of the red zone today."

Zhang Shi nodded and gave the enhancement card to Pipi without hesitation.

A blinding green light appeared and fell into Pipi's eyes. A moment later, its eyes flashed with a strong eerie light. Zhang Shi knew that the enhancement card had taken effect.

Pipi first adjusted to the sudden increase in vision, then bent down and stared in one direction. Through his connection with Pipi, Zhang Shi guessed that something dangerous was approaching him from that direction.

"Be on guard! Something's coming!"

Zhang Shi and his group had just made quite a commotion fighting the winged monster. Although their battle ended quickly, it still attracted the attention of beings shrouded in mist.

Huo Xiuxiu was the first to detect the other party's location, and raised her hand to unleash two vortexes of energy towards the mist. The vortexes seemed to have struck something, producing two muffled thuds, but there was no other sound.

Zhang Shi nervously looked around. Through his connection with Pipi, he vaguely sensed an unsettling aura rapidly approaching, but everything remained hazy and indistinct in the mist. He whispered to Huo Xiuxiu, "It seems the other side is no ordinary opponent. We need to be careful."

Huo Xiuxiu's expression was solemn. She nodded, signaling everyone to prepare for battle. Pipi, meanwhile, continued to stare intently ahead with its eerie eyes, occasionally letting out a low growl, as if issuing a warning.

Suddenly, a strange rustling sound came from the mist, followed by several figures slowly emerging. Their bodies twisted, as if they were the materialization of the mist itself, and each step they took was accompanied by a slight distortion of the surrounding environment. These creatures were covered in a moss-like substance, their eyes shimmering with a green glow, and their appearance was somewhat similar to the mud monsters.

"It's a Mist Moss Monster. Be careful of their tentacles; they can paralyze your nerves." Huo Xiuxiu clearly knew something about this monster and quickly warned him. Upon hearing this, Zhang Shi gripped the old Duan sword tightly, exchanged glances with his companions, and prepared to fight.

Huo Xiuxiu's expression turned unusually serious; clearly, these monsters were not easy to deal with. She tried releasing the vortex again, attempting to repel or restrain these monsters from a distance. However, these mist moss monsters seemed even more cunning than the previous winged monsters. They were extremely fast, nimbly dodging the vortex's attacks, while simultaneously approaching from all directions, their tentacles stretching out like snakes, attempting to entangle the group.

Seeing the large number of monsters, Zhang Shi knew that his side was surrounded. After thinking for a moment, he decided to take the initiative and used Shadow Slash in response to weaken the number of the enemy.

However, those moss monsters were clearly not so easy to deal with. When the shadow sword energy landed in front of them, their bodies suddenly became semi-transparent, as if they had become ethereal and merged into the mist. The shadow slashes hit them as if they had encountered air and returned empty-handed.

Zhang Shi frowned. This was the first time he had encountered a monster that was immune to energy attacks, and for a moment he didn't know how to deal with it.

Huo Xiuxiu gently shook the bell while offering timely reminders.

"These monsters are immune to all magic and energy attacks in the thick fog. You either have to find a way to lure them out of the fog and kill them, or you have to fight them in close combat. There is no other way."

Taking advantage of the brief dissipation of the nearby fog, Ge Dalong tried to attack the moss monster with ice spikes. Although most of the ice spikes were dodged, a few unlucky ones were still hit and frozen in place by the frost. Zhao Feng rushed up and cleaved the monster into pieces with an axe.
