Outside the door, Wang Wu rushed over in a panic. He was enjoying some tender time with one of his female crew members when he was suddenly told by his subordinates that Monkey had been captured. He hurriedly ran to Zhang Shi to check the situation.
Upon arriving at the scene, Wang Wu overheard Zhang Shi saying he wanted to give Hou Kun a proper "welcome." Knowing that things had escalated, he quickly stopped the soldiers and stood in front of Hou Kun to inquire about the situation.
"Boss Zhang Shi, isn't there some misunderstanding?"
Zhang Shi pointed at Hou Kun and said coldly, "Ask him yourself."
Wang Wu turned to look at Hou Kun, his eyes filled with doubt and anger. Hou Kun lowered his head, not daring to meet Wang Wu's gaze, his body trembling slightly, clearly knowing that he could not escape his fate.
"Monkey, tell me honestly, what exactly happened?" Wang Wu's voice was deep and powerful, each word seemingly squeezed out from between his teeth.
Hou Kun took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, but his voice still trembled slightly: "Brother Wu, I... I actually secretly joined the Dragon Tiger Alliance a long time ago. This time I came with a mission to investigate the coordinates of Boss Zhang Shi's shelter. I didn't expect it to cause you trouble."
Upon hearing this, Wang Wu's expression turned even more grim. He hadn't expected his subordinate to do such a thing behind his back, nor had he imagined that this matter would put him in such a passive position.
"Boss Zhang Shi, on behalf of the entire team, I'm here to apologize to you." Wang Wu said, about to bow to Zhang Shi in apology.
Zhang Shi stopped him, coldly saying, "Wang Wu, this matter has nothing to do with you, but you are not without blame for what your subordinate did. I can let you off the hook, but you must give me an explanation."
Upon hearing this, Wang Wu was secretly relieved that Zhang Shi hadn't directly taken his anger out on him. He quickly nodded and said, "Don't worry, Boss Zhang Shi, I will definitely give you a satisfactory explanation. I will absolutely not let this monkey off easily."
As he spoke, Wang Wu turned to look at Hou Kun, a fierce glint in his eyes: "Monkey, you betrayed me, you betrayed the team, what else do you have to say?"
Hou Kun had completely lost the courage to resist. He could only lower his head and wait for Wang Wu's punishment.
Wang Wu took a deep breath and then said to Zhang Shi, "Boss Zhang Shi, what do you think of this? I'll hand the monkey over to you for disposal. At the same time, I will strengthen the discipline of our team to ensure that such a thing does not happen again."
Zhang Shi looked at Wang Wu and nodded slightly: "Alright, since you say so, I'll give you face." Zhang Shi then looked at the other survivors who had gathered around because of the noise, "But you must remember, this is my territory, not a place where other forces can run wild. If there's a next time, don't blame me for being impolite."
Wang Wu understood the hidden meaning in Zhang Shi's words and nodded repeatedly in agreement: "Yes, yes, I understand. Don't worry, Boss Zhang Shi, I will definitely keep it in mind."
After saying that, Wang Wu turned to look at Hou Kun, his eyes devoid of any pity: "Monkey, you can leave. From now on, you are no longer part of our team."
Upon hearing this, Hou Kun breathed a sigh of relief. Although he knew his fate might be tragic, at least he wouldn't have to confront his guilt and unease anymore.
Escorted by soldiers, Hou Kun slowly left the room. Outside the door, an unknown fate awaited him.
Inside the room, Wang Wu did not leave, clearly still having something to say.
Although the matter has been resolved, a rift has quietly formed between the two. Zhang Shi knows that while Wang Wu's team appears to be cooperating with him, both sides remain wary of each other.
Zhang Shi didn't give Wang Wu a chance to speak and directly closed the door to see him out.
A moment later, Zhao Feng and the others arrived upon hearing the news. Zhang Shi did not kill Hou Kun immediately. Instead, he weighed Hou Kun's wristwatch in his hand. After everyone had gathered, he slowly opened the private chat interface and sent a video call to Brother Long.
Zhang Shi's cold, stern face appeared on the screen. He had deliberately chosen this moment, not only to demonstrate his control over the situation but also to show Brother Long his power and determination. The instant the video call connected, Brother Long's ambitious face came into view; he seemed still immersed in his dream of soon controlling the entire island.
"Hey, isn't this Boss Zhang Shi? What's up, suddenly have time to chat with me?"
Brother Long was startled by Zhang Shi's face on the other end of the video. After the blunder at the transit station, he belatedly realized that his enemy was Zhang Shi, who had been ranked number one in the world multiple times. He felt a lot of pressure, but he pretended to be relaxed and tried to hide his panic. Little did he know that the slight tremor in the corner of his eye betrayed him.
Zhang Shi curled his lips into a cold smile, without directly responding to Brother Long's provocation.
"Brother Long, it seems your men are a bit reckless, daring to 'explore' my territory without permission. But it's alright, I'm always magnanimous and don't like to make things difficult for small fry. But you need to give me an explanation as to why your men are here."
Zhang Shi's voice was calm yet powerful, each word like a meticulously crafted blade piercing Long Ge's heart.
Brother Long's face instantly turned ashen. He hadn't expected Zhang Shi to be so direct and forceful. Hou Kun knew the coordinates of the Dragon Tiger Alliance's headquarters, and his rapid exposure had disrupted his plans. Although the two sides had long since broken off relations, he didn't want to start a war so soon.
After a brief silence, he forced a smile, trying to ease the tension: "Zhang Shi, this is a misunderstanding. It was entirely Monkey's doing, and I had no prior knowledge of it. I will give you a satisfactory explanation and guarantee that this will not happen again."
"Confess?" Zhang Shi sneered. "How much do you think your confession is worth? Or are you planning to use your Dragon Tiger Alliance to exchange for this subordinate's life?"
Brother Long's eyes instantly turned sharp. He realized that Zhang Shi was toying with him, and his face immediately turned extremely gloomy.
"Zhang Shi, don't forget, you were once defeated by me. Is it worth going to such lengths for a mere subordinate? How about this, we each take a step back: you release the monkey, and I won't covet your island anymore, how about that?"
Zhang Shi shook his head, his eyes sharp: "Brother Long, your suggestion sounds wonderful, but reality is cruel. On this island, strength determines everything. You sent people to investigate my sanctuary, which has crossed my bottom line. Today, I can spare the monkey, but you must pay the price."
"What price do you want?" Brother Long's voice was already a little hoarse. He knew that Zhang Shi had taken the initiative in this negotiation.
"It's very simple. I want half of the Dragon Tiger Alliance's resources as compensation for this incident. At the same time, you must publicly announce that the Dragon Tiger Alliance will never set foot on my island again." Zhang Shi's voice was firm and resolute, leaving no room for negotiation.
Upon hearing this, a flash of anger crossed Brother Long's eyes, and he then burst into a string of curses.
"Damn it, you really think you're someone important? Let me tell you the truth, Hou Kun is just a pawn. You can kill him or do whatever you want with him. Besides, even if you attack, what can you do? Do you really think our Dragon Tiger Brotherhood is a pushover? We can crush you once, and we can crush you a second time!"
Zhao Feng, who was watching from the sidelines, couldn't hold back any longer. Every word that Brother Long said was piercing his heart. The deaths of those seventy soldiers were a knot in his heart that he couldn't get over. After Brother Long brought it up, Zhao Feng immediately flew into a rage.
"You bastard, you scoundrel! If I don't kill you with my own hands to avenge the fallen soldiers, I, Zhao Feng, will write my name backwards!"
