Chapter 150 Suffering

Chapter 150 Suffering

After entering the room, Zhao Dalong pressed Huang Liang on the chair. Huang Liang struggled twice but couldn't break free from Zhao Dalong's iron-like hands.

"Brother, I'm already here, and you three are staring at me, so I can't run away. Don't be so serious. I'm not a criminal."

Lin Jianyan smiled, asked Zhao Dalong to let him go, then pulled over a chair and sat down opposite Huang Liang.

"Tell me, it's been such a short time since we last met, and you've become like this. Look at how you look now, covered in dirt. If I hadn't seen your face, I wouldn't have recognized you."

Huang Liang turned his head slightly away from Lin Jinyan's sight, and shrugged his shoulders in a nonchalant manner, "Isn't it good for me to be like this? I'm darker and stronger. Don't you think I'm more manly than before?"

Lin Jianyan was not satisfied with his answer and continued to ask, "Why are you there? And why didn't I see you last time I went to recruit workers? Don't you live in Wanshui Lane anymore?"

Huang Liang's eyes flickered for a moment, and then he laughed dryly, "Well, a move may lead to death, I just want to change my environment and find a new place to start over."

Lin Jianyan saw that he was dirty and his palms were scratched, with several bloodstains standing out against his dark skin.

He suddenly asked, "Are you doing hard labor at the dock?"

Huang Liang's body suddenly stiffened, and the smile on his face suddenly became a little forced, "No way, you and I have been together for so many years, don't you know me? How can a lazy person like you do hard labor?"

Seeing Lin Jianyan's eyes wandering around him, he unconsciously retracted his hand and said, "I, I just had a fight with someone and got a scratch on my skin. Oh, don't ask me anymore."

"By the way, we haven't seen each other for such a long time. Have you eaten? I'll treat you to dinner later..." Looking at Lin Jianyan in an expensive suit and several bodyguards around him, his voice softened unconsciously.

The corners of his mouth curled up into a self-deprecating smile, "Hey, look at me, you are a big boss now, you must not be used to eating in a small restaurant, and I don't have that much money to treat you to a meal in a restaurant, so forget it."

As Huang Liang spoke, a complex emotion flashed across his eyes, including nostalgia for the past when things were not so different, as well as a sense of loss and inferiority over the disparity in his current circumstances.

Lin Jianyan opened his mouth and wanted to say something when he heard a "gurgling" sound. Several people looked in the direction of the sound and saw Huang Liang holding his stomach nervously.

Huang Liang's face turned red instantly, and he wished he could disappear from everyone's sight immediately. He stammered, wanting to say something but stopping himself.

Lin Jianyan was stunned for a moment, frowned slightly, and pursed her lips unconsciously, "Ajun, go to the front desk and order a meal."

Ajun nodded and left.

The atmosphere in the room was a little subtle for a moment. Huang Liang sat on the chair awkwardly, not knowing what to do with his hands and feet.

Lin Jianyan fell into deep thought. Looking at Huang Liang's miserable appearance, he felt mixed emotions.

Although Huang Liang had caused him some minor troubles in the beginning, he was not a bad person by nature. There were a few times when he was not around and Wang Biao came to collect the bills, and it was he who helped protect Ah Hao and the others and drove Wang Biao and his gang away.

When he left, he promised him that he could ask him for help if he had any problems, but now it seems that if he hadn't happened to meet him today, this stubborn guy would never have opened his mouth.

He must have encountered some difficulties that forced him to leave Wan Shui Lane. He was such a conceited person before, but now his hands are covered with wounds and ropes.

Soon Ajun came over with a portion of food and placed it in front of him.

Huang Liang looked at the steak and pasta in front of him and couldn't help swallowing.

Lin Jianyan said softly: "Eat quickly, I hope you can have a good chat with me after you finish eating."

Huang Liang wanted to refuse, but the steak smelled so good. He picked up the chopsticks, hesitated for a moment, glanced at Lin Jianyan, saw a soothing smile on his face, nodded to him, and then began to eat slowly.

He was a little reserved at first, but then because he was really hungry, after eating two bites his hands moved faster, and he wolfed down the food, looking like he had been really hungry for a long time.

Lin Jianyan looked at him quietly without saying a word. Soon, Huang Liang cleared out all the food in front of him.

Seeing that he had almost finished eating, Lin Jianyan stood up, poured a cup of tea and handed it to him.

"Brother Liang." Lin Jianyan spoke in a low and gentle voice, "I don't know what happened to you during this period. I want to say that no matter what happens to you, you can tell me and I will do my best to help you. You stood up for Ah Hao and my mother back then, and I will always remember this kindness."

"You don't have to feel like you owe me anything. You've helped us so much, but I've never been able to help you in any way. Just think of it as me wanting to repay you."

Huang Liang took the cup of water he handed to him and felt the temperature of the hot water passing through the cup. The warmth seemed to spread through his fingertips into his heart, gradually warming his originally tired heart.

As if his words touched something in his heart, Huang Liang's eyes turned red. He covered his eyes with one hand and choked up, like a trapped beast, his tone filled with helplessness and collapse.

"Ah Yan, what should I do?"

"My mother was diagnosed with stomach cancer. The doctor said it was already in the middle to late stages and she needed chemotherapy first. She has already undergone chemotherapy four times. We have sold our house and everything that can be sold. The doctor said she needs two more chemotherapy treatments, but we don't have much money left."

"My father and I have been working very hard. I work at the dock during the day and as a waiter in a hotel in the evening. I have to work until midnight before I can go back to bed. But even though I am so tired every day, I still can't make enough money for the surgery."

Huang Liang grabbed his hair in despair, tears streaming down his face. "The doctor said my mother wouldn't live more than three years even with the surgery. Everyone told us to give up, but she's my mother. How could I bear it?"

Zhao Dalong and the others were all moved when they saw Huang Liang like this. Lin Jianyan didn't expect things to turn out like this.

"How much is the remaining amount?"

Huang Liang looked up blankly, "What?"

Lin Jin stared into his eyes and asked seriously, "How much money do you need? I'll give it to you, and you don't have to pay it back."

Huang Liang's lips trembled slightly, his eyes full of disbelief, and it took him a while to come back to his senses, "Still...still short of 68,000..."

Lin Jianyan took out a card from her inner pocket and put it in his hand. "There's 100,000 in it. Use the extra money to buy some supplements for Auntie to take care of her body."

Huang Liang's hand holding the card felt like it weighed a thousand pounds, and his heart was like ice and fire. His mind told him that he had to take the money because his mother couldn't wait any longer, but his emotions told him that he didn't have the face to accept the money.

He worked so hard just because he didn't want to bother him. He trembled and said, "I, I don't want that much. Just lend me 50,000. There's still some time before the next chemotherapy. I'll save some money during this time. That'll be enough."
