Less than a hundred meters behind Xi Bao, a wild beast with long fangs and black fur was chasing after her.
It's a wild boar!
Little Xibao is small, and her steps are small too.
"Ouch!" she cried out, tripping over a small stone and falling to the ground, sobbing in pain.
Lu Qiqi was quite a distance from Xiao Xibao, about a hundred meters away, and there was no time for her to pick up Xibao and escape.
Damn it!
Lu Qiqi cursed under her breath, her sharp eyes fixed on the wild boar that was running wildly toward Xibao.
She picked up a stone from the ground and ran towards Xibao with all her might.
She couldn't let anything happen to Xibao!
The wild boar was getting closer and closer to Xibao, and Lu Qiqi couldn't keep up with its sprint.
Lu Qiqi suddenly stopped in her tracks, stood still, raised her hand high, and hurled a stone at Xibao.
The stone slammed into Xibao, frightening her so much that she closed her eyes with tears in her eyes.
Several strange cries rang out.
Lu Qiqi breathed a sigh of relief.
The wild boar fell to the ground and remained motionless.
Lu Qiqi rushed forward to check the situation. She was afraid that the wild boar was just stunned by what she had done and might still go berserk and attack at any time. She had to prevent such a situation from happening outside!
She reached out and poked the unresponsive wild boar a few times, confirming that it was dead, and then stored it in her spatial storage.
Lu Qiqi lifted Xibao up from the ground, patted the dirt off Xibao, and carefully checked for any injuries.
Fortunately, Xibao was wearing thick clothes, so there were no bruises or abrasions. There were just some scratches on her palms, with tiny grains of sand mixed with a little blood, making her look pitiful.
Little Xi Bao was too frightened by the commotion to cry anymore, and was now quietly staring at Lu Qi Qi.
Lu Qiqi said sternly, "Xibao, it's my fault for not keeping a close eye on you, but you can't run around like that, you know! Otherwise, if a wild animal carries you back, you won't be able to see your parents, uncle and aunt, or your sister!"
Little Xi Bao blinked and stared intently at Lu Qi Qi, nodding as if she understood, then took a small purple wildflower out of her pocket and gave it to Lu Qi Qi, saying, "Sister, wear this."
Looking at the little flower in Xibao's hand, Lu Qiqi felt a surge of tenderness and put it on herself.
"It looks good," Xi Bao said.
Xi Bao's hand was slightly cut, but it wasn't a big problem. However, Lu Qi Qi didn't ignore it. She took out a bamboo jar of spiritual spring water from her space and gave it to Xi Bao to wash her hands.
The spring water had some special properties, because Lu Qiqi didn't hear Xibao cry out in pain even once.
Xi Bao's hands were clean, and the broken skin on her hands was completely healed, as if she had never been injured.
Xi Bao looked at her little hand again and again, still unable to understand, and happily said, "Sister Qi Qi, it doesn't hurt."
Lu Qiqi also took the opportunity to brainwash Xibao, saying, "This is a magical medicine. Let's keep it as our little secret and not tell anyone, okay?"
Xi Bao didn't understand what a secret was; she just agreed to anything.
After making such a commotion, Lu Qiqi lost all interest in taking Xibao up the mountain to pick mushrooms.
He packed up the hoe and went into his spatial dimension, then took Xibao back to the veterans' village.
Back in the veterans' village, Lu Qiqi released the wild boar, and they happened to run into Zhang Weiguo, who had come back to get rooting solution.
"Wow! Such a big wild boar, did you hunt it?" Zhang Weiguo asked in surprise.
Lu Qiqi nodded and said, "Uncle Zhang, let's have some wild boar meat for everyone today. Find two people to cook the meat later."
Zhang Weiguo gave a thumbs-up and praised, "I didn't expect you to be such a good hunter. I have a fine sandalwood slingshot that I'm sure you'd be interested in. I'll bring it to you tomorrow, so it can be put to good use."
Just as Lu Qiqi was about to refuse, she noticed Zhang Weiguo's empty sleeve, nodded, and smiled, "Alright, then thank you very much, Uncle Zhang."
After lunch, Lu Qiqi handed Xibao over to Li Shi and went up Shishan alone.
Having climbed halfway up the mountain, Lu Qiqi took out a wooden whistle, blew it loudly, and summoned Xiaohua and the three tigers to come out.
A moment later, Lu Qiqi heard a noise and then saw the mother and child slowly walking towards her from the bushes.
The three tigers all had dejected faces, as if they had suffered some great injustice.
Seeing this, Lu Qiqi became even angrier!
She picked up a stick about the size of a pointer and pointed it at the three tigers, saying, "Hurry up and come over here!"
The three tigers dared not delay any longer, quickened their pace and walked up to Lu Qiqi, lying down on the ground and trying to please her.
"Trying to be cute won't work; they still need to be taught a lesson!" Lu Qiqi was completely unmoved by the three tigers' attempts to charm her.
She was furious whenever she thought about how the three tigers had driven the wild boar down the mountain, putting Xibao in danger.
"If I don't show up at the foot of the mountain, will you still have to send the wild boar to the veterans' village?"
Lu Qiqi couldn't believe the thought of three tigers chasing a wild boar appearing in front of her house.
I can't even imagine what that scene would look like!
The whole family would be so scared they'd have a heart attack!
Upon hearing this, Rainbow immediately looked up, as if to say that was exactly what she meant.
Before Lu Qiqi could react, Rainbow was pushed to the ground by Xiaohua, and Snowball opened its mouth wide at Rainbow to scare it.
Rainbow could only reluctantly get up again and wait to be trained.
Lu Qiqi, however, changed her fierce expression and threw down the wooden stick, saying, "I'll let you off this time, but if there's a next time, I'll shave all your fur off and make your whole family bald, hairless tigers! Let all the beasts in the jungle laugh at you!"
When the three tigers saw that Lu Qiqi had thrown away the stick, they ignored what Lu Qiqi had said and immediately surrounded her, nuzzling their heads and begging for petting.
Lu Qiqi stroked the tiger's fur for half an hour before she calmed down.
She figured it was getting late, so she said goodbye to the three tigers. Knowing that Lu Qiqi wouldn't take them back to the village, the three tigers stared intently as Lu Qiqi went down the mountain, reluctant to part.
When Lu Qiqi returned to the veterans' village, she smelled the aroma of meat.
These are the wild boars hunted today!
"Seventh Sister is back!" Lu Dahai shouted happily.
Approaching the large pot, where the broth was bubbling and steaming, Lu Qiqi finally spoke up, "Third Uncle, this meat smells so good!"
"Of course!" Mrs. Li walked over carrying a wooden basin.
Lu Qiqi saw the bright yellow mushrooms in the wooden basin and exclaimed in surprise, "So many mushrooms?"
A whole bowl of matsutake mushrooms, added to meat broth, tastes incredibly delicious.
I can't think about it, because it makes my mouth water.
Li said with a smile, "There are quite a few thunder mushrooms on the edge of the earthen hill, so your aunt and I picked some back."
Lu Qiqi, as if remembering something, asked, "Are there many more on the mountain?"
Li thought Lu Qiqi wanted to pick more, so she said, "There's so much. Your aunt and I can't pick it all. After we finish here, there's another big patch next to it."
Your aunt is still gathering in the mountains. If you're curious, go look for her; I'm afraid she might get lost again.
Lu Qiqi picked up a pine mushroom and said, "There are so many thunder mushrooms this year, the crops should have a good harvest. Third Aunt, I'll go find my eldest aunt now!"
