Chapter 494 Fleeing in Disarray

Inside the makeshift tent at the foot of Yanlian Mountain, Tadar held the beauty in his arms with one hand and gnawed on a sheep's hoof with the other.

Every now and then, she would feed herself a sip of sweet wine with her delicate hand, letting out a sigh of delight.

The beautiful woman, holding a glass of wine, coiled around Tadar like a snake, and said in a soft, coquettish voice, "Your Highness, have another drink."

The beauty in his arms had a hot body, and Tadar was aroused. The roasted lamb was succulent, and the grease on his lips was directly imprinted on the beauty's cheek.

Seeing the blushing and shy look on the person in his arms, Tadar laughed even more unrestrainedly and happily.

Heartfelt laughter echoed from outside the tent.

Suddenly, a hurried, hoarse shout pierced the sky, interrupting the laughter inside the tent.

"Enemy attack! Enemy attack! Be on alert!"

A single cry startled the waves. Hearing that the enemy was attacking, the Tatars who were besieging the foot of the mountain frantically searched for their scimitars, preparing for a tough battle.

Upon hearing the commotion outside the tent, Tadar shattered his wine cup and abruptly stood up, ignoring how the person he had been holding had fallen to the ground and made a cat-like sound.

He picked up the double-scythe-wielding scimitar beside him, quickly lifted the plain white tent flap, and rushed out of the tent to see soldiers outside, holding scimitars and running around in a panic.

Seeing this, Tadar glared angrily and asked, "What's going on?"

The soldier who came to deliver the message dismounted and ran quickly to Tadar to report, "Your Highness, the enemy is leading three thousand troops and is almost at the foot of Yanlian Mountain."

Upon hearing this, Tadar quickly turned his head and looked towards the border city of the Great Jin Dynasty.

In order to intercept the enemy prince outside the pass, he had already sent out three thousand men, but unexpectedly, he not only failed to capture the prince, but also lost most of his men.

Now that the Jin army has brought 3,000 men to the rescue, they must have learned that the Crown Prince of Jin is in the Yanlian Mountains.

Thinking of this, Tadar immediately asked the soldier who came to report, "Who is leading the team?"

The soldier pondered for a moment and said, "A strange face, I've never seen one on the battlefield before."

This is illogical. This place is closest to the West Gate, and the general guarding the West Gate is that hateful woman. Now that the Crown Prince of the Great Jin is trapped in Yanlian Mountain, why isn't she leading troops to rescue him herself?

Several possibilities immediately flashed through Tadar's mind, and he then ordered, "Send men back to camp to bring reinforcements! If reinforcements are not seen within an hour, your whole family can be fed to the eagles!"

The soldier's shoulders trembled involuntarily. He knelt on one knee and accepted the order, saying, "Yes, sir!"

After he left with his men, someone quickly brought over a fine horse. Tadar mounted the horse, took the double-scythe scimitar handed to him by his men, gripped the reins tightly with one hand, raised the scimitar high, and shouted, "Warriors, follow me to kill two-legged sheep to feed the eagles!"

Tadar was met with a chorus of cheers from behind.

The thunderous sound of hooves echoed as more than a thousand men from the grasslands, each with broad shoulders and muscular build, armed with their own weapons, launched an attack on the three thousand troops of the Great Jin Dynasty who had marched out of the pass.

The Tatars had been harassing the border for years, and An Shi had been holding his breath. Once he was able to leave the border to meet the enemy, he was like a mad dog released from its cage, wishing he could kill the Tatars all!

He rode a large horse, brandished his sword, and loudly encouraged the soldiers behind him, "Capture Tadar alive, and you will be promoted and ennobled!"

A chorus of voices erupted behind him: "Capture Tadar alive, and promote him to a higher rank and title!"

Upon hearing this, Tadar, who was facing the enemy, tightened his grip on the reins and immediately accelerated towards the Jin army.

As he approached the Great Jin army, Tadar squinted in the bright light, searching for the face of the one who had dared to speak so arrogantly and wanted to capture him alive.

Tadar paid no attention to the young soldier in the distance who looked like a pretty boy, and snorted disdainfully.

He shouted, "Warriors, there is a great reward for killing a general of the Great Jin! Hahaha!"

The two armies charged at each other on horseback, and eventually their swords clashed.

The sounds of swords clashing echoed down the Yanlian Mountains. The Tatars, riding on horseback, faced twice the number of troops of the Jin army, yet they showed no fear in their mounted combat.

The sounds of swords clashing filled the air as Dark Ten met with Tadar, both thrusting their weapons straight at each other's vitals.

Sparks flew as the scimitar and broadsword clashed and collided. Anju suddenly exerted force from his left hand to his right, causing the broadsword to bounce off the scimitar. The scimitar was instantly deflected, and even Tadar, who was riding on horseback, was forced to take a few steps back.

Tadar was a burly man, as solid as a rock on horseback. Dark Ten predicted that if he tried to fight with all his might, he would only end up falling to the lower levels.

He immediately changed tactics, nimbly standing up on his horse, using his feet for leverage, and thrusting his sword straight at Tadar's forehead.

Previously, Tadar had not taken Dark Ten seriously, but this attack completely ignited his murderous intent. Suddenly, he wielded his twin scythes and leaped to meet the enemy.

Tadar kicked the horse beneath him hard, and it collapsed to the ground instantly, as if it had been kicked in a vital spot, lying there unable to move.

The broadsword and the curved sword clashed once again. This time, Dark Ten used Tadar's brute strength to kick him, then turned his blade and slashed forcefully at Tadar's face.

Tadar wasn't about to let Dark Ten succeed so easily. He raised his twin scythes to block Dark Ten's greatsword, then with a powerful lift, he sent Dark Ten sprawling.

The two landed on the ground, their bodies stained with even more blood. They looked up at each other with hatred, and just as they gripped their weapons and charged at each other again...

Suddenly, a joyful shout rang out, "Your Highness! Your Highness is here!"

Tadar was taken aback. Out of the corner of his eye, he looked in the direction of the voice and vaguely saw a young general with a sword in hand, riding a horse, heading in his direction.

What exactly happened?

Could it be a lie that the Crown Prince of Libei was trapped in Yanlian Mountain?

With this speculation in mind, Tadar couldn't help but suspect that the enemy prince's imprisonment was a ruse, and that they actually wanted to capture him, the eldest prince, once and for all to quickly resolve the border war.

He cursed under his breath, "Damn it, those cunning two-legged sheep!"

Seeing Tadar momentarily distracted, Anju quickly drew his sword and charged forward. This time, no matter how skilled Tadar's muscle memory was, he could not escape being seriously injured.

Despite being parried by the twin scythes, Anju's greatsword resolutely cleaved into Tadar's right shoulder, and blood instantly flowed out like a stream.

Tadar's guards quickly noticed the danger and immediately drew their swords to deflect Dark Ten's blade. A dozen Tatars worked in perfect coordination and suddenly surrounded Dark Ten.

"Withdraw!" Tadar, pale with pain, gave his final command.

The guards led Tadar away first, leaving half of the men behind to buy time for Tadar's evacuation.

Riding a fierce steed, Song Yanqing bent low and slashed left and right, carving a bloody path through the enemy ranks.

With his broadsword soaked in blood, having resolved Dark Ten's predicament, Song Yanqing shouted, "Soldiers, follow me to capture Tadar alive!"

The arrival of the commander-in-chief boosted the morale of the Jin soldiers and demoralized the Tatars. Soon, the Jin soldiers captured the few remaining Tatars.

Led by Song Yanqing, the army ventured deep into the heart of the grasslands in pursuit of Tadar!
