Chapter 500 Military Rations Stolen

The next morning, it was broad daylight.

Tadar suffered a severe injury to his right shoulder yesterday. The witch doctor treated him promptly and applied a poultice of black medicine.

However, due to excessive blood loss in his right shoulder and the long ride back to camp, he suffered severe depletion of qi and blood.

Therefore, even as dawn broke, Tadar still showed no signs of waking up.

His maidservant, who had stayed up all night wiping away Tadar's sweat, was tending to him.

Seeing that it was broad daylight and Tadar showed no signs of fever, the maid was relieved and carried a basin of water out of the tent to pour it out.

As soon as she lifted the tent flap, she saw a group of people running frantically to the west.

He also made a hurried sound.

"Hurry! Go now!"

The maid watched the group of people run away into the distance, feeling a little puzzled, but she didn't dwell on it. She poured the water from the wooden basin onto the ground, then lifted the curtain and went back to take care of Tadar.

"What's wrong? What happened?"

Lombas, who was in charge of guarding the grain, was hurriedly led by his men to the main camp where the military equipment was stored early in the morning.

Anger surged within him; if nothing serious happened, he would definitely make people so flustered they couldn't speak!

But just as he shouted those words, the tent flap was suddenly lifted.

Through the blinding light, Lombas had to squint. When he finally saw the scene inside the armory, his legs went weak.

Lombas was a burly man, capable of killing a wolf with a single punch, but the sight before him truly frightened him.

The tents that should have been filled with military equipment and weapons have all disappeared!

Inside lay dozens of corpses, their eyes wide open, their deaths gruesome.

To find out what was going on, Lombas walked toward the camp where the weapons were stored, and the closer he got, the more chilled he felt.

The reason was that the corpses in front of him were actually soldiers he had arranged to guard the camp.

The soldiers' blood was sticky underfoot, but Lombas felt nothing at all.

He seemed to be suddenly awakened, and hurriedly ran to check the seven large tents next to him where grain was stored.

As he expected, the camp was already empty, with nothing left.

No matter how valiant Lombas was on the battlefield, his blood ran cold when the food supplies of seven large camps and the weapons of one large camp were stolen overnight.

This matter is of great importance and cannot be delayed.

Lombas cursed inwardly, but dared not keep the information to himself.

He ordered a soldier beside him, "Summon all the soldiers who patrolled last night to the Prince's tent and await their fate!"

"yes!"

Lombas hurried toward Tadar's tent, but when he appeared outside the tent, he was told by the guards that the eldest prince was still asleep.

Upon hearing this news, even a burly man like Lombas broke out in a cold sweat.

Unable to inform the soldiers who had reported the theft of food and weapons, Lombas had no choice but to risk being chopped up and fed to the eagles by recklessly barging into the eldest prince's tent.

He had just barged into the tent, and before he could even see who was inside, he was met with a barrage of reprimands.

"Lombas, you dare to barge into the Crown Prince's tent? Do you have a death wish?"

The speaker was Jamu, a confidant of the eldest prince.

Lombas and Zhamu have always been at odds, and they would blow up even the smallest things. But today was different; he didn't have time to waste words with Zhamu.

He stated his purpose directly: "Zhamu, tell the eldest prince that all the grain and ironware were stolen last night."

Upon hearing Lombas's words, Zhamu's expression immediately changed. His eyes widened in disbelief, and he took two steps forward.

Although he and Lombard were at odds, he knew Lombard and dared not lie on such an important matter.

The commotion the two made in the tent was so great that Tadar, who was fast asleep, was awakened by their conversation.

The maidservant quickly walked to the center of the two men and said, "The eldest prince has ordered that you two be summoned for questioning."

Tadar was pale, and his lips looked as if they were covered in frost. He slowly got up with the help of a maid.

"What happened?"

"Your Highness," said Lombas. "Last night, all the food and weapons in the eight tents were stolen."

Tadar had just regained consciousness when he learned that the food and weapons had been stolen. He was an easily angered man, and his anger overwhelmed him, causing him to cough rapidly.

The maid, who had served Tardar for many years, heard the cough and patted Tardar's back.

Tadar, who had stopped coughing, had his originally pale face regain a sliver of color from anger.

He spoke with great authority, "Speak! What happened?"

Lombas explained what he had just seen, saying, "All the guards were killed in the large tent where the weapons were stored."

"The soldiers on patrol last night didn't hear a single sound?"

Zhamu's question was also what Tadar wanted to ask.

"The soldiers who patrolled last night were all outside the camp," said Lombas.

Zhamu received a signal from Tadar and rushed out of the tent. Just as he was about to grab a soldier by the back of the neck and bring him into the tent...

But then he saw two men running toward him.

They left and then returned.

Zhamu then led three men into Tadar's tent.

Just as Tadar was about to ask a question, two of the men suddenly knelt heavily on the ground with a thud.

Only then did Tadar get a clear look at the faces of the two men.

"Your Highness, two hundred horses in the west have all vanished overnight!"

"Your Highness, the cattle and sheep raised by the army have also disappeared overnight!"

Shocking news followed one after another. Tadar was already seriously injured, and when his anger reached its peak, a metallic taste gushed out from his throat.
