Chapter 540 Imprisoning Nine Generations

Dark Prison.

The night the city gates were opened, Wu Guangping was sent to the dark prison.

He looked at the impenetrable, dark prison without the slightest fear.

He was even plotting in his mind how to escape.

Unfortunately, his wish could not be fulfilled.

When he saw Xing Zhi remove the white blindfold, revealing his eyes perfectly intact as he stood before him, his expression suddenly changed.

The most ruthless person in the Dark Prison was right in front of him. Even Wu Guangping, a general in his own right, now a prisoner, had to be wary of him.

Wu Guangping sat watching Xing Zhi stand outside the Cold Iron Prison, while his own hands and feet were bound by Cold Iron.

He chuckled self-deprecatingly.

Xing Zhi looked down at him and said, "You look down on my father's ways, but the sins you have committed are unparalleled."

"Now that you've entered this dark prison, the day you emerge will be the day you are beheaded!"

Although Wu Guangping's limbs were restrained, his mouth was still sharp: "Xing Zhi, your father and I entered the army together. Today, he died on the battlefield, and I am a prisoner."

But you failed to inherit your father's mantle and instead serve the royal family in these dark and shady places.

In that case, your father's fate was even worse than mine. At least I once held significant power, while your father remained an insignificant junior officer until his death!

He spoke as if he were making perfect sense, as if trying to convince himself, "In that case, his fate is no different from mine!"

But the next second, he heard a voice of rebuttal.

Xing Zhi's voice filled the dark dungeon, "Of course it's different!"

"You have broken your promise and betrayed your brother. You are unrighteous and heartless to your brother, and you have stood by and watched him die without helping him."

You betrayed your country and your army to your monarch, and you treated the lives of your soldiers as a joke.

"To the people of the Great Jin, you are ashamed before this kind of grain and the taxes you pay every year!"

The sound permeated every corner of the dark prison, and one person was like a thousand troops, attacking Wu Guangping.

Finally, Xing Zhi looked at Wu Guangping and said calmly, "A person like you doesn't deserve to live in this world."

Having said that, he ignored Wu Guangping's expression and strode out of the dark prison, leaving him alone in the dark and sunless prison.

......

The next day, early morning.

Qin Shiyu rushed to the main tent of the camp commander early in the morning to report back.

She entered the tent and saw Lu Qiqi yawning, sitting opposite Song Yanqing, with a sumptuous meal laid out on the table in front of them.

Thinking of the inappropriate scene, Qin Shiyu disregarded social hierarchy and glared angrily at Song Yanqing.

This left Song Yanqing completely bewildered.

Qin Shiyu must have something important to report to us.

Song Yanqing placed a crispy pancake in Lu Qiqi's bowl before putting down his chopsticks and sitting down at his desk.

"Your Highness, the soldiers of the Tatar Third Prince Ajitai who were scouting outside the border city were killed last night by my men."

Song Yanqing nodded. "How badly were the people who went back to report the news injured?"

Qin Shiyu thought for a moment, "This humble general showed mercy and let three people go to ensure everything went smoothly. I believe that it will not be a problem for one of them to return to the Third Prince's side."

Upon hearing this, Song Yanqing nodded in satisfaction. "General Qin, you've worked hard. Please return to the West Camp and rest for a while."

Qin Shiyu didn't move an inch. Song Yanqing knew she still had questions, so he said, "If you have something to say, just say it."

After a moment, Qin Shiyu said, "Your Highness, Wu Guangping has been arrested and imprisoned. I have a matter that has been troubling me for a long time, and I would like to ask Your Highness to help me resolve it."

Upon hearing this, Lu Qiqi put down her chopsticks and turned her gaze to the two of them.

Qin Shiyu's gaze was resolute, as if recalling unpleasant memories. After taking a deep breath, she said, "My husband died a year ago at the gate of Dongying City."

If Wu Guangping had harbored rebellious intentions from the beginning, my husband would likely have fallen victim to his superiors' schemes and died by Kodar's blade.

Undeniably, Qin Shiyu's speculation is thought-provoking.

Song Yanqing said, "I have already sent a memorial to the new capital. You still have time to interrogate him before the imperial decree is issued."

Upon hearing this, Qin Shiyu's eyes flickered, and her voice was slightly nasal as she said, "Thank you, Your Highness."

Just as Qin Shiyu was about to leave the tent, Lu Qiqi picked up a handkerchief from the side, wiped her mouth, and quickly stood up, saying, "General Qin, I'll go with you."

Qin Shiyu hadn't expected Lu Qiqi to make this request, so she gave her a deep look before nodding heavily, "Okay."

After saying that, Lu Qiqi and Qin Shiyu walked out of the commander's tent without looking back.

On the way, Qin Shiyu's mind wandered. He thought of Lu Qiqi in the tent, looking tired, and said, "Princess, you didn't sleep well last night. How about we take a carriage to the Dark Prison?"

Lu Qiqi waved her hand, not caring much, "No need, Wu Guangping stayed up until midnight last night to open the city gates. By the time he made his move, it would be too late."

After I interrogate him, I'll go back and catch up on some sleep.

Good heavens!

After Lu Qiqi explained, Qin Shiyu realized that he had misunderstood Song Yanqing and was speechless for a moment.

The two rode at breakneck speed and arrived at the entrance of the Dark Prison.

After being informed and receiving Xing Zhi's consent, the two were finally allowed to enter the dark prison.

Since Xing Zhi said those words to Wu Guangping last night, no one has come to interrogate him since.

Just as Wu Guangping was wondering what was going on, the sound of a lock being opened came from inside the dark prison.

Soon after, two figures appeared before him.

Wu Guangping said, "I never expected that they would send the two of you to interrogate me!"

As he spoke, he burst into laughter, "The Great Jin Dynasty is doomed, even without my help, it would still be doomed!"

Lu Qiqi waited for him to finish speaking, then said calmly, "You don't need to pretend to be crazy. You can't escape the consequences of your crimes. If you don't want people to know, then don't do it in the first place."
