The one who uttered the insults was Aunt Jin. She had finished cooking, but her daughter Lu Changping had not returned for a long time, so she went out to look for her.
I was worried about her getting into trouble along the way, and also angry that she was running around recklessly.
When she saw her daughter lying on the ground, with Lu Qiqi behind her, her face grim, she became even angrier.
"You little bastard, how dare you hit your sister!"
Lu Qiqi was still furious. She thought that even one person was a lesson, and she didn't mind teaching both of them a lesson.
"We should be grateful she doesn't bully us. Don't you know what kind of person your own daughter is?"
"You two sisters are jinxes. Not only did you bring death to your parents, but you're also going to bring death to your sister?"
"Everyone, come quick! This is outrageous! These two sisters not only steal, but now they're even hitting people! Unbelievable!"
Jin sat down on the ground and wailed loudly, as if she wanted to ruin her sisters' reputations and make them unable to get married.
It quickly attracted villagers to gather here.
Lu Qiqi watched her make a scene with cold eyes, but when she saw her grandmother also come to join in the fun, she spoke up sternly.
"The grain that my third uncle delivered yesterday was shared by both the eldest and second sons of the family, but my cousin insisted that we stole it."
From a young age, my mother taught us not to take even a needle or thread from others, unlike my aunt who stole my grandmother's dowry jade earrings to exchange for a bracelet.
“You’re talking nonsense,” Jin immediately retorted. “Mother’s jade earrings were lost by her own care. What does it have to do with me!”
She hid the bracelet in her sleeve, but hiding it only confirmed that she had stolen her mother-in-law's dowry.
This is a huge no-no!
What family would want a mother-in-law or mother-in-law who steals their dowry?
Grandmother Lu stepped forward and twisted Jin's ear hard, wishing she could rip it off. "You shameless hussy, you dare to steal my dowry! I'll have the eldest son divorce you today!"
Jin covered her ears with both hands and begged loudly, "Mother, Mother, I was wrong, I will never dare to do it again."
People around whispered among themselves.
"It turns out that the Jin family had an extra hand. They kept accusing the two sisters of stealing, but it was actually a frame-up. I wonder how many times these two sisters have suffered injustices."
An aunt grabbed her son and said, "That's right, stay away from their family in the future."
The eldest uncle was a man of pride, and upon seeing this, he immediately went over, separated the fighting mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, and then scolded Lu Changping to leave.
Lu Changhu couldn't stand it, knowing that all this trouble was caused by Lu Qiqi.
He picked up a stone in the dark, went around behind Lu Qiqi, raised his hand and smashed it into the back of Lu Qiqi's head.
With a "bang," the stone fell to the ground.
"Third Uncle." Lu Changhu's wrist was grabbed by Lu Dahai, who was so strong that he wanted to break his hand.
Upon hearing the news, Lu Dahai rushed over from his lodging in the neighboring Lijia Village.
She had just arrived when she saw her nephew throwing stones at her niece; how could she not be angry?
"Tiger, what are you doing? That's your own cousin!"
Normally, Lu Changhu would definitely not take Lu Dahai seriously.
A man who becomes a live-in son-in-law can never hold his head high, whether in his own home or his wife's.
But now, he felt the strength in his wrist from his usually honest third uncle, whose face was grim.
Lu Changhu felt a chill run down his spine. He begged for mercy, "Third Uncle, I was wrong. I misjudged you."
After all, he was his own nephew, so Lu Dahai couldn't do anything to Lu Changhu. He sternly reprimanded him and then let go of his hand, saying, "If you dare to cause trouble again, I'll deal with you on behalf of your father!"
Lu Changhu was so frightened that he ran away without thinking. He tripped and fell, but he didn't dare to stop. He immediately got up and ran away.
Lu Qiqi was startled when she heard the sound of the stone hitting the ground, and cursed herself for being careless.
However, the original owner had weak hearing in her left ear since childhood, which was beyond her control.
"Thank you, Third Uncle," she said, putting her arm around Lu Yao and thanking Lu Dahai. Luckily, her Third Uncle was there, otherwise her head might have been cracked open by now.
"Seventh Girl, what happened? I heard there was a fight over there, so I rushed back."
Lu Qiqi told Lu Dahai about the family division and how Lu Changping had bullied her and her sister.
After listening, Lu Dahai's expression was inscrutable, and it was unclear what he was thinking.
After a long pause, Lu Dahai finally spoke, "Didn't your grandmother try to stop her?"
Lu Qiqi didn't speak. Her grandmother had never liked her mother, Chen, and by extension, she didn't like her and her sisters either.
They turned a blind eye to the family division and pretended not to know anything.
Lu Dahai knew what his own mother was like, so he didn't ask any more questions. He sighed and made a decision, "You two sisters come back with me. As long as I have food to eat, you will definitely not go hungry."
Knowing Lu Dahai's hardships, Lu Qiqi often brought food to her family as her son-in-law.
Now we have to take two mouths back with us. Even if someone has a good temper, they'll still cause trouble.
Lu Qiqi didn't have a deep impression of her third aunt. She only knew that her third aunt had an older brother who had some difficulty walking, so the Li family kept her at home to find a husband.
Lu Qiqi wanted Lu Dahai to leave, so that having a man to support the family during the escape from famine would reduce a lot of trouble.
But Lu Qiqi knew that being a live-in son-in-law would not be easy. Her third uncle had always been very good to her and her sister, and she did not want to be a burden to him.
Just as Lu Qiqi was about to refuse, Lu Dahai reassured her, "Don't worry, the grain was sent by your third aunt. She's not a difficult person to get along with."
After saying that, Lu Dahai started to help them carry their things. The two sisters didn't have much stuff, so Lu Dahai easily carried it on his back.
Lu Qiqi hadn't cooked the savory porridge yet. She carried the pot in one hand and held Lu Yao's hand in the other, following behind Lu Dahai as they headed towards their lodging in Li Family Village.
Fortunately, the two villages were not far apart, and we arrived in no time.
The people of Lijia Village had eaten dinner early and were resting now. A few strong men were left to keep watch at night, and several bonfires were lit in the corners to prevent wild animals from harming them.
