Chapter 53: I'll put on a show so you can have your wish fulfilled.
Before anyone knew it, Easter had already entered the living room, and Pearl followed behind, feeling rather awkward.
“King Felix, I misspoke,” Pearl said.
“It’s alright,” Easter said. “You can say whatever you want about me. I just don’t like you dragging him into this.”
The atmosphere between the two made the young men want to come up but also dare not.
"Little one, what's wrong?" Yun Mu glared angrily at Pearl without any fear.
“It’s alright,” Easter handed over the system rabbit. “Since you like it, you can pet it. We’ll talk later.”
Yun Mu hugged the system rabbit helplessly, "Quick, quick, who's going to take over? I'm afraid I'll strangle him."
Matsushita Yuki walked over, gently took the system rabbit, glanced at Ister, and said, "Don't be wronged."
East gently rubbed Matsushita Yuki's little tuft of hair. "No."
Yunmu slapped Guagua's hand away, "You're so clumsy, don't scare the little rabbit."
Easter found it amusing, but when he turned to Pearl, his smile faded slightly. "I'm in trouble today. It's almost lunchtime. Would you like to have lunch together?"
“No need. I need to go back and discuss the matter with my tribe regarding Serenel. Regardless of the outcome, our tribe will offer an apology. I hope you won’t refuse,” Pearl said.
“No,” Easter said, “then I won’t send any more.”
Pearl turned and left. It was clear that those ordinary women were not to be expected to catch Arip's eye. This was probably not the outcome Randall would like.
Easter sat down on the sofa in the living room, and a group of little firemen surrounded him.
Matsushita Yuki handed the system rabbit back to East, saying, "You've taken good care of him."
Easter took the system rabbit back and stroked its soft white fur. "I'm glad you like it."
"Little one, what do you want to tell us?" Yunmu reached out her little hand and carefully touched the system rabbit, her eyes filled with joy.
East laid out Serrenl's proposal in its entirety, saying, "The decision is yours."
"No problem, this looks like it will be really interesting." Yun Mu's eyes lit up immediately. A mission, and a very interesting one at that.
Matsuue Yuki asked, "What if the place we go to is different from where his sister lives?"
“We just need to lead the way; whether the outcome is good or bad is none of our business,” Easter said with a smile. “Just treat it as a trip.” His whole statement exuded a hint of detachment.
Matsushita Yuki seemed to sense something, but instead asked, "How many little firemen do you need?"
The king has treated players differently from others more than once or twice. The king has his own standards of measurement, and the players are fortunate that they are within those standards.
“Two or three will do,” East said. “They’re just there to lead the way, not to help him kidnap people.”
"You can discuss who you want to go, and I'll tell him our answer." East wanted to resolve this matter as soon as possible; there were other things to do after lunch.
Serenel handed over a box. "Inside are five hundred high-grade magic crystals. This is the reward."
“That’s too much.” Ister didn’t intend to refuse the payment. He knew that for people like them, if something could be solved with money, they shouldn’t involve personal favors. However, five hundred high-grade magic crystals were ultimately too much.
“It’s not much,” Serenel said. “You agreed to the deal with me, so it’s nothing. We merfolk are not short of money.”
Easter accepted it, "Thank you very much."
“You’re welcome. We each got what we needed,” Serenel replied.
"How do you plan to leave later?" East put away the box containing the magic crystals.
"Perform a play."
Ister had some suspicions, which might be why Serenel was willing to pay more magic crystals.
“Okay,” East has already agreed to the deal, so he will naturally do his best to cooperate when necessary. “You can make a big fuss, but don’t make me lose too much.”
“Don’t worry,” Serenel said.
“Aren’t you afraid your sister isn’t there?” East asked.
“I’ve said it before, I won’t let go of any possibility.” Serenel said it calmly, but that did nothing to hide his determination.
Easter, "I hope you get what you want."
Serenel raised his eyes slightly. "Thank you for your well wishes."
“I’ll go make the arrangements,” Easter said. “You can try the food made by the Little Fire People; it’s delicious.” With that, he turned and left the room.
Serenel looked down and saw the exquisite desserts on the plate. He carefully picked up a piece and brought it to his lips. He opened his lips and ate it. It was sweet but not greasy. Suddenly, two pearls rolled to the ground.
Serenel looked down at the two pearls that had rolled to a distance, and with a flick of his finger, two thin blue threads wrapped around the two pearls. He held them tightly in his hand. He would bring his sister to eat the desserts made by King Felix's summoned creature. His sister loved sweet things the most, and he was sure that his sister would come back and taste this delicious dessert.
...
The rain stopped, but thick clouds still hung in the sky, dark and gloomy, as if it could rain again at any moment.
East saw the three little fire people walking towards him: Yunmu, Guaguagua, and Meimeibumei.
“Little one, we’ve made up our minds, it’s the three of us.” Yun Mu walked up to East.
“It’s fine as long as you’ve reached a decision,” East said, never intending to interfere with the players’ decisions. “Let’s go in.”
"Don't worry, little king. With Meimei around, Lady Luck is definitely on our side," Guagua patted its "chest" to assure us.
A smile spread across Esther's lips. "I believe in you."
Meimei glared at Guagua and said in a low voice, "Haven't you noticed that my luck isn't that effective in this game?"
"That's still better than ours," Guagua said dismissively. "Don't forget what happened before. Let's not even talk about the 'Little Abyss' for now. Just look at all the battles we fought against the monsters. Have you ever counted how many monsters died right in front of you by sheer bad luck? If you say that's just bad luck, then what about us who were even less lucky than you?" As Guagua spoke, he really got carried away, and you could hear the deep resentment in his voice.
Meimei thought about it carefully, "Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit like that." Although it's not as good as before, it doesn't seem to be that much worse.
East listened for a while and was somewhat surprised. Unless there were interesting or special battles that the system would share with him for him to watch, East didn't have that much time to watch the daily battles between ordinary players and monsters.
"Host, didn't I tell you? The top ten players all have a certain amount of luck about them." The system noticed the expression on Ister's face and spoke up.
“Did you say that?” Easter asked back.
"Oh, I think I forgot~" the system said sheepishly. "But it's not too late to tell you now."
East stepped inside, no longer paying attention to the system conversation, and said to Serenel, "How about just the three of them?"
The plates in front of Serenel were all empty. It was unclear whether he had eaten them all or put them away.
Hearing Esther's words, he glanced at the three little firemen beside Esther. "No problem, but they are probably the three strongest of all your summons. Aren't you afraid that if you encounter danger during this time, they won't be able to protect you in time?"
“Don’t worry about that,” Easter said with a smile. “All my summons are very powerful; they can protect me.”
Serenel clapped his hands and stood up. "Don't worry about it."
East took out a magic wand and handed it to Serenel, saying, "Return it to its rightful owner."
Serenel didn't take it. "If you like it, you can keep it, or you can use it for your summoned creatures later."
East threw her wand at Serenel, "You've given me enough. Any more and I'm afraid I won't be able to handle it."
Serenel caught the wand and twirled it in his hand. "Alright, I'll take it with me if I have the chance..."
“If you want this journey to go smoothly, I advise you not to finish what you’re about to say,” East interrupted Serren, a standard move of setting a flag, better safe than sorry.
Serenel didn't continue with what he hadn't finished saying. "Until we meet again," he said, and began chanting a magic spell.
Ister stepped aside and instructed the system to record everything that was about to happen, so that the players could also see the first proper magic demonstration.
A thick fog enveloped everything, obscuring even things that were right next to you. But that state lasted only a moment. Once again, Ist could see clearly. The fog was still there, but Ist had changed.
Easter pursed his lips. The truth would come out sooner or later. It was too much of a hasty thing to worry about now, and it would only make things difficult for himself.
Through the thick fog, East observed the unfolding events. A water sphere, no bigger than a basketball, contained the three little firemen.
"Boom!" A small water ball hit the door, blasting it open. The ground shook, and a thick fog spread out. All of this happened in the blink of an eye.
When East stepped outside, Serenel and the players had vanished without a trace, leaving behind only a thick fog that had not yet dissipated, which suited the current weather conditions quite well.
Many little fire people quickly surrounded East, chattering and asking questions.
"Your Majesty, how is the plan progressing?"
"Has the mermaid already escaped?"
"Your Majesty, did he hurt you?"
"Your Majesty, what should we do now?"
...
The players were aware of the plan and found it extremely interesting. Special missions always come with special rewards, but unfortunately, their levels were too high to accept them. To avoid any complaints from the players, the system implemented a level restriction for this special mission.
“Little Fireman Warriors, now go and find the culprit who broke into the manor and kidnapped your companions,” Easter said.
Players are quick-witted.
"I'll stay here to protect the king. What if the bad guys come again?" the husky said seriously.
“Follow your own wishes,” Easter said.
A gentle breeze swept in, and the thick fog slowly dissipated.
Nearly a hundred little firemen ran out of the manor and scattered to every corner of the city, ready to search.
Ist didn't have as much energy as the players and seemed listless.
Just then, a faint yet incredibly crisp sound rang out.
East closed his eyes. The sound came and went quickly, and when he searched carefully, he could no longer hear it.
"System, has a new player logged in?" Ister asked in his mind.
"Yes," the system replied, "After investigation, the situation regarding the loosening of the monster seal this time is almost identical to the second and third times."
East simply grunted in response. Having just finished acting out a scene, he didn't want to rack his brains anymore. There were plenty of other things to do, so this one wouldn't make a difference.
