Chapter 40 A New Journey: Arrival at Port Manhattan, a period of rest. ...

Three days later, East boarded a carriage to go out. The sky was beginning to lighten, and the rising sun pierced through the thick clouds, revealing rays of sunlight.

Easter gently stroked the system rabbit, a warm and peaceful smile on his face. "The weather should be nice today." The system rabbit obediently rubbed against Easter's hand.

"It's rare to see the sun," said Yunmu, who climbed onto the carriage with her short legs. "The weather has been rainy and gloomy all the time, there's never a sunny day."

"Yes, yes," quack quack echoed.

"Good morning, Your Majesty!" It wasn't as polite as roasted sweet potato and Meimei's greeting.

"Good morning," Easter replied.

Fortunately, the carriage was spacious enough to accommodate one person and four little fire people.

The carriage slowly began to move. Yunmu leaned against the window and looked out curiously. "Riding with the king, this is an experience that can only be had in a game."

"What a wonderful journey!" Mei Mei exclaimed. The exotic scenery, the mysterious magic, the strange races, and the world hiding countless secrets—every aspect of it was captivating.

"Your Majesty, have you ever seen mermaids? What do they look like? Are they really beautiful?" Unlike Yunmu and Meimei, who had many thoughts, Guagua Guagua leaned over to Esther and asked the question that he was curious about.

Easter laughed and replied, "Very beautiful, the stronger the beauty." The last sentence was quite meaningful.

The quack shuddered inexplicably. "What do you mean?"

"It doesn't mean anything. It's just the literal meaning." Easter looked completely innocent.

"Won't we know once we see him?" Yun Mu turned back to join the conversation. "Asking now, no matter how much the little king tells us, it won't feel real, will it?"

“That’s true,” quack quack muttered, “I just thought the journey was boring and wanted to find something to talk about with the king.”

"How about we play cards?" Yunmu pulled out a deck of cards, which was very exquisite and beautiful. It was made of stiff cardboard, the same kind of stiff cardboard used to make invitations for banquets.

"Where did this come from?" Guagua asked curiously, "This card doesn't look cheap."

“Cai Die helped with it,” Yun Mu replied, “So, are we playing cards?”

Easter put the system rabbit aside and said to Yunmu, "This looks a lot like a tarot card."

“I remember there is such a saying,” said Ru Ru Kao Di Gua, “that playing cards evolved from tarot cards.”

"All I want to ask is whether you play cards or not? I don't want to know the origin of card games." Yun Mu was slightly speechless. Being with overly knowledgeable people always made her feel a bit stupid.

"How do we play?" Easter asked. He was certainly familiar with the common ways to play; shouldn't he know that now that he was in this position?

"I'll explain it to you, it's very simple." Yun Mu enthusiastically explained the rules of the game to Easter.

And so the game began. A game only requires three people, and two people will be watching.

“Little King, can I touch it?” Yun Mu asked, pointing at the system rabbit. She took out the cards but didn’t participate in the game in the first round, saying that she would direct Ister to play.

Easterly glanced at the cards in his hand and answered Yunmu's question, "Of course, he's very well-behaved." After all, he's not just an ordinary rabbit.

Yunmu stroked the rabbit's fur and chuckled foolishly, "It makes me want to raise one too."

"You're always holed up in the game, do you even have time to raise your pet?" Guagua Guagua, while playing cards, still managed to find the time to complain about Yunmu.

"Can't I talk about it? Look at your cards properly, don't lose without even knowing how." Yunmu was in a good mood, petting the rabbit, and didn't bother arguing with Guagua.

Easter smiled and put down the last four cards in his hand. "I won." He hadn't played cards for a while, but isn't playing cards just about calculation and a bit of luck?

“This doesn’t make sense,” Guagua said, unwilling to believe it. “It must be the newbie protection period.”

Easter usually wins seven or eight out of ten games. Later, it was discovered that he went too far, so he toned it down. But apart from not being as good as Roasted Sweet Potato, he lost to the point of questioning his life.

In this cheerful and pleasant atmosphere, they arrived at Port Manhattan.

Guagua threw down the cards in his hand, "We've reached our destination, I'm not playing anymore, I'm not playing anymore."

Yunmu rolled her eyes at Guagua with disdain, "Look at you, so pathetic." But she carefully put away her cards. Her son's luck was unbelievable; every hand was either a royal flush or a straight. A few times, he didn't even give her a chance to play. She silently wiped away her cold sweat and made up her mind that she could never play cards with her son again, or she would question her life.

Easter looked slightly embarrassed. People who had played cards with him before usually wouldn't play with him again, which made him lose control just now.

“The capital should have been located here in Manhattan Port.” East lifted the carriage curtain, and a lively, noisy atmosphere drifted in. The people here were clearly in better spirits than those elsewhere.

"Then why did you choose this place? I remember the name of the royal city was Esther, right?" Yunmu said after a difficult thought.

“Because twenty years ago, Manhattan Port was very dangerous,” East said, his tone complicated. “The monsters in the ocean are generally more powerful than those on land. Twenty years ago, many ‘small abysses’ appeared here all at once, each containing at least tens of thousands of monsters, and mid- to high-level monsters made up 60% of them.” It was this danger that led to Felix’s complete decline. “There are probably still treasures belonging to my family in the ocean. We can try to find them if we have the chance.” East tried to ease the tension.

"My little king!" Yunmu cried out, her eyes brimming with tears.

East patted Yunmu's little tuft of hair. "That was a long time ago. I wasn't even born then. This is what my father told me." He realized that this little player was overly sentimental.

"Does Esther mean stars and hope?" Meimei asked.

“Hmm, isn’t the meaning very good?” East replied. This is also why Manhattan Port is not far from the royal city. Even at the end of life, there is always hope left, and that is a star of hope.

“Very good,” Yun Mu nodded emphatically, “Zai Zai’s city will become the most dazzling star.”

East couldn't suppress the smile on his lips. "Alright, we've arrived. It's time to get off the carriage."

"Sigh~ I can never resist a gentle baby." Yun Mu sighed, but her tone sounded so irritating.

The quack quack was the first to jump off the carriage. Why does it look like a cult den?

East was the last to disembark. After getting off the carriage, he could hear the sound of the sea crashing against the rocks and smell the salty smell of the sea. Looking around, he saw a manor built by the sea, with an antique and exquisite architectural style, but it had already shown the marks of time, which made it even more charming.

"So beautiful!" Yunmu exclaimed. Under the sunlight, the seawater shimmered. Standing on tiptoe and looking into the distance, the view was expansive and boundless.

East gazed at the vast blue ocean, momentarily lost in thought, and touched the pendant hidden by his clothes. Before they met, he hadn't felt much longing or yearning, but now, he almost thought he was deeply in love.

"Your Majesty, welcome!" It was the manor's butler who led the male and female servants out to greet you.

Esther gathered his thoughts and noticed that Yunmu and the others had gathered around him at some point. "Let's go in."

The green lawn, the fountain, and the beautifully trimmed evergreen trees create a vibrant scene that doesn't seem like something you'd expect in autumn.

East felt that he had been cooped up for too long and that going out for a walk had refreshed him.

The most surprising thing is that there is a tall tower on the seaside. You can imagine how beautiful the view will be from the top.

Easter and the four little firemen went up to their bedroom to rest for a while before having lunch.

Other little firemen also arrived one after another via location teleportation, adding a vibrant touch to the quiet manor.

"System, they're all very energetic." East pushed open the window and could see the colorful little fire figures playing on the lawn, giving him a strange feeling of an old father watching his children.

[Host, you're only twenty years old. Even by Earth's standards, you're only twenty-five. The way you're making these remarks makes it sound like you're seventy or eighty.] The system retorted.

"System, have you been corrupted by the players?" East pinched the back of the system rabbit's neck.

"Host, I'm doing this for your own good. Men definitely prefer vibrant, passionate life." The system pleaded earnestly.

Easter grabbed the System Rabbit by the scruff of its neck and held it up to his eyes, asking in surprise, "Tell me, who are you? How did you manage to take over my system's body?"

The system rabbit kicked its chubby legs, its plump body wiggling, and said, "Host, I was wrong."

East hugged the system rabbit back into his arms and rubbed it soothingly. "System, didn't you disapprove of me being with him?" He seemed to be trying to break up the couple.

As long as he treats the host well, I'm not intolerant of others.

East felt that what the system said was strange, like how a first wife treats a concubine.

"I'm telling you to watch out for the players' behavior and not to copy everything they do." As Easter walked out of his room and downstairs, he was still lecturing the system in his mind, trying to give him back the obedient, naive, and somewhat stupid system he used to know, instead of this one that seemed to have evolved some kind of hooligan personality somewhere.

The players inside the room were all well-behaved, without making a fuss or speaking loudly. Ister stood at the corner of the stairs, and the colorful little firemen and the ancient hall blended together to create a wonderful picture.

"Little King, it's time to eat." Cai Cai came out of the kitchen and was about to go upstairs to call Easter when they happened to meet.

East continued down the stairs, saying, "Thank you for your hard work, I'm coming right now."

"It's not hard work," Cai Cai said. The little king is so easy to take care of. He eats whatever you give him and isn't picky at all. She would rather the little king had some demands, but he never does. He's so well-behaved that it's heartbreaking.

Cai Cai and East walked into the restaurant side by side. The table was set with food served on expensive and exquisite plates, which reminded East of that lavish but impractical meal. There was no way around it; it was too memorable. However, East had unconditional faith in Cai Cai's cooking skills. After eating, he was not disappointed at all; it was even more delicious than he had imagined.

“It’s delicious.” Easter didn’t hold back his praise.

"If the little king likes it, eat more." Cai Cai could tell that the little king was not very happy since the man left, so she made more delicious food for him to cheer him up.

After enjoying the delicious food, East was in a wonderful mood; food truly has the magic to heal the soul.
