Chapter 112 Utter Disappointment

"Meng Xin, have you forgotten whose surname you have? What is the relationship between the Meng family and your father? And what is the relationship between them and you?"

"Xinxin, what did your mother mean by that?" Liu Yan's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly asked.

"What, didn't Xin Xin tell you that her deceased father married into our Meng family?" Madam Meng said with a light laugh.

"So what? Xinxin is your only daughter. After you die, the Meng family's assets will still go to her." Liu Yan paused for a moment, then said.

"Meng Xin, is this the good man you chose? He's already plotting to take our family's assets on his very first visit!" Madam Meng said, looking at Meng Xin.

"Stop trying to control Xin Xin's mind. I'm doing this for Xin Xin's own good!" Liu Yan answered first.

"Meng Xin, have you forgotten why I only have one daughter?" Madam Meng sneered.

"When you were seven, you said you didn't like having younger siblings, and that you were afraid they wouldn't love you anymore once you had them. Have you forgotten all of that?"

"I was young and didn't understand things back then," Meng Xin said, looking away and pursing her lips.

"What era are we living in? Madam Meng is still young. If the first one is ruined, just have another one," Jiang Hua said calmly.

Jiang Hua's words stunned everyone present, with Madam Meng being the first to react.

"Dr. Jiang is right!" Madam Meng nodded in agreement.

"Meng Xin, I already said, if you've made up your mind about him, then don't acknowledge me as your mother!"

"Mother, you shameless woman! You're so old, and you're still thinking about finding someone else!" Meng Xin blurted out in a panic.

"Who's shameless here? She's not even married yet, and she's already pregnant with someone else's child." Madam Meng sneered.

“Your father has been dead for so many years, it’s only natural for me to find someone else!”

"How can you face my father?" Meng Xin suddenly felt that her mother, who had been by her side for sixteen years, was a complete stranger.

"Meng Xin, I think you've lost your mind. Don't forget that you cried in front of me when your father brought a woman from a brothel into the Meng family's gate!"

Madam Meng looked at Meng Xin with cold eyes. She had lived for so many years, and the only thing she had done wrong was to her parents and marry such a useless man.

As for the rest, she had been worthy of everyone. She had always vividly remembered what her father had done.

She carried him for ten months, risking her life to give birth to him, and has no right to accuse her of wronging that dead man!

Upon hearing this, Meng Xin burst into tears and fell silent.

"In the end, you just look down on us poor people. You think you're all that because you have a little money. All your philanthropy is just for show!" Liu Yan accused sharply.

“You don’t even acknowledge your own daughter, you don’t deserve to be a mother. Xin Xin, let’s go!” Liu Yan hugged the heartbroken Meng Xin tightly and said with heartache.

"Mother, you're leaving now. Take good care of yourself. I'll come back to see you." Meng Xin knelt down and kowtowed, saying:

"I will prove to you that Brother Liu Yan is not that kind of person. I will definitely be happy with him!"

After saying that, he got up and left the Meng family with Liu Yan without hesitation.

Madam Meng watched Meng Xin's departing figure with utter disappointment, and sadly wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes with a handkerchief.

"Madam, don't be sad. Miss is just blinded by him right now," the old woman behind Madam Meng comforted her.

"Miss will see through that man's true colors."

"I hope so," Madam Meng nodded.

"Dr. Jiang, what should we do about Xin Xin's baby? Will that second-rate scoundrel Liu Yan delay until the baby is born?" Madam Meng asked worriedly.

“Madam Meng, you don’t need to worry. You saw Liu Yan’s behavior just now. Once he realized he couldn’t get any benefit from Miss Meng, his true nature was quickly revealed,” Jiang Hua judged.

"Dr. Jiang, I'm sorry you had to see my daughter like this," Madam Meng said with a sigh.

Even without the charade she staged with Jiang Hua, Meng Xin's actions and every word she uttered today had already broken her heart.

I never imagined that my daughter, whom I have always cherished, would betray me like this, talking back to her mother for the sake of a lowly man.

Madam Meng was filled with disappointment. No matter what, she could not accept that her daughter spoke of her like that and even spoke up for that irresponsible father.

After offering a few words of comfort to Madam Meng, Jiang Hua made an excuse to leave the Meng family.

After leaving the Meng family in a huff, Liu Yan took Meng Xin back home.

Meng Xin's eyes were already red and swollen from crying, so she didn't notice the fleeting look of disgust in Liu Yan's eyes.

"Brother Liu Yan, what should I do? I spoke without thinking just now, and my mother must be very upset." Meng Xin belatedly realized her mistake and regretted it.

“Xinxin, you did nothing wrong. The one who is wrong is your mother. She still wants to control your life the way she always has, and wants you to live like her.” Liu Yan put away the disdain in his eyes and coaxed her gently.

"You still have me, don't you? After we get married, we can live the life you've always wanted."

"Brother Liu Yan, you're so good to me!" Meng Xin nodded in agreement.

“Xinxin, I have to go out to do business during the day, so what about my mother…” Even though Mengxin was puzzled, Liu Yan patiently explained:

"Now that you've married me, my mother is your mother-in-law. Shouldn't you learn to take care of her?"

"Of course, Brother Liu Yan." Meng Xin thought about it and realized that her sweetheart was right.

"Brother Liu Yan, when shall we get married?"

"Xin Xin, we don't have any money right now. But once I have some, I'll give you an unforgettable marriage!" Liu Yan tempted her.

...

On the way back to Shili Village, Jiang Hua and Jiang Xingzhou sat in the carriage, looking at each other in silence.

"Huahua, is the matter resolved?"

In the end, it was Jiang Xingzhou who broke the silence.

"Soon, I think," Jiang Hua replied.

"I just overheard you and Shen Qingchuan talking about how you're leaving again in a few days?" Jiang Hua asked.

"Yes, I still need to keep an eye on the border."

Jiang Hua nodded slightly and didn't ask any more questions.

"Don't you want to know my identity?" After thinking for a moment, Jiang Xingzhou slowly asked.

"If you want me to know, you will tell me."

Jiang Hua didn't have much of a feeling about these identities. She had learned a little about them from the system and could basically guess them.

However, she was unaware of Zhou Yingxuan's identity, and the dog system had never mentioned it.

Jiang Xingzhou was taken aback, looked at her carefully, and found that it was indeed as she said.

The carriage soon arrived at Shili Village, and Jiang Hua got off the carriage nimbly.

The servants that Chunniang bought last time have been delivered. Before sending them back to the village, she also instructed that Granny Luo to discipline those maids properly.
