Chapter 120 Miscarriage

Once the door to the west wing was closed, Zhao Lishi, who had been lost in thought, finally came to her senses and anxiously began to tell Aunt Wang what had happened.

Dazhuang is about to finish work and go home. If anything happens to Peiyun's baby, how will she explain it to him?

"Mrs. Zhao, it's alright. She might have just had a miscarriage. Doctor Jiang is watching her inside." Although she sensed something was wrong with Mrs. Zhao, no one wanted this to happen, so Aunt Wang could only try her best to comfort her.

Fifteen minutes later, Jiang Hua's voice came from inside the house, asking Granny Luo to fetch a basin of hot water.

"Aunt Wang, the hot water is almost ready! Could something have happened to the baby in my Peiyun's belly?!" Zhao Li was extremely flustered.

"Don't worry, Zhao Lishi, there's no use in being anxious here." Aunt Wang's eyes were getting blurry from her pacing back and forth.

Half an hour later, Granny Luo came out, her forehead covered in fine sweat. Upon seeing this, Madam Zhao rushed over to her.

"Granny Luo, how is the baby in Peiyun's belly?"

"Aunt Zhao, the baby in Peiyun's belly is fine, but Peiyun hasn't woken up yet." Granny Luo frowned slightly. Shouldn't the focus be on the mother's health first?

"Can I go in and take a look?"

"Granny Luo, let them in."

Just as Granny Luo was hesitating, Jiang Hua came out from inside with her medicine box. She gave Zhao Li a meaningful look, and Zhao Li, who met Jiang Hua's eyes, looked away guiltily.

"Aunt Zhao, is that a pregnancy-preserving medicine you're holding?" Jiang Hua asked casually, glancing at the medicine packet that Zhao Lishi was carrying.

"Yes, it's the medicine for preventing miscarriage that Peiyun and I got from the pharmacy in town today." Zhao Li hurriedly hid the medicine behind her back.

"Yes, Dr. Jiang, we saw Zhao Lishi taking Peiyun to see a doctor in town early this morning," Aunt Wang chimed in.

"Oh," Jiang Hua replied softly, then stepped aside, leaving the doorway open.

"By the way, your daughter-in-law is too weak to move around. She should stay with me for the next few days to rest."

"Dr. Jiang, won't this cause you trouble?"

Zhao Li's expression froze instantly. What would happen to the medicine that the bamboo sorceress had prescribed for her if she didn't go home?

What if I cook it at home and bring it over, and it gets discovered?

"If Aunt Zhao is worried that your daughter-in-law won't take her pregnancy-preserving medicine on time, you can brew it at home and send it over," Jiang Hua said kindly, amused by her ever-changing expression.

"Miss, do you still need to go to Mingdetang to get the medicine from the prescription you just gave me?" Granny Luo asked at the right moment.

"Mrs. Zhao, you should put aside this pregnancy-stabilizing medicine for now. You should drink the medicine prescribed by Doctor Jiang first, since it's the right medicine for your condition," Aunt Wang advised.

“Yes, Aunt Zhao, I think Peiyun is too weak. Let’s listen to Doctor Jiang first,” Huaihua chimed in.

Listening to Aunt Wang and Huaihua's back-and-forth conversation, Zhao Lishi could only smile awkwardly and paused as she was about to step into the room.

"Since Peiyun hasn't woken up yet, and Dazhuang will be back soon, I'll go back first to help Dazhuang cook, and I'll also make some chicken soup to bring over later for Peiyun to drink when she wakes up."

Aunt Wang and Huaihua were a little surprised. Shouldn't they go in and take a look?

Before they could say anything, Zhao Lishi had already left, clutching the medicine packet tightly in her hand.

The two had no choice but to go in and see for themselves. Looking at Peiyun lying on the bed with her pale face, Huaihua couldn't help but feel sorry for her.

She vaguely remembered that Peiyun wasn't this thin when she first married into the family. Could it be that everyone becomes like this when they're pregnant?

Huaihua blurted out her innermost thoughts, and Aunt Wang, who was standing nearby, couldn't help but think deeply. If her daughter-in-law hadn't spoken up, she really wouldn't have noticed Peiyun's change.

"Huaihua, don't overthink it. When you get pregnant, your mother will kill a chicken to nourish you. Peiyun is just feeling unwell because of her pregnancy," Aunt Wang comforted her, not wanting her to be traumatized by someone else before she even gave birth herself.

"She just had a miscarriage before and didn't take good care of her body, which left her with health problems. Plus, she didn't rest properly during her pregnancy, so that's why she's like this," Jiang Hua explained softly as she walked in.

"Her condition is so serious today because she had a miscarriage and ate something she shouldn't have."

Seeing Huaihua looking at Peiyun on the bed with a troubled expression.

"Everyone's physical condition is different. Some women can still work in the fields while pregnant, while others might lose their baby if they sneeze. Just be careful."

Giving birth is like walking through the gates of hell. It's not that I don't agree with having children, but she can't interfere in this kind of thing and tell others not to have children. She can only understand and respect it.

"Yes, locust flowers. When you get pregnant, you must tell your mother," Aunt Wang said repeatedly.

The two stayed for a while before returning home. Granny Luo and Shuanghua came in and looked at the woman on the bed, their eyes filled with heartache.

Jiang Hua mentioned Shuanghua to her, asking her to take special care of her, so Granny Luo basically took her under her wing.

"Alright, put away your pity and concern. Go and cook some nourishing porridge, and try to keep it light."

As for the chicken soup that Zhao Li mentioned, Jiang Hua didn't expect it either.

Sure enough, by the time Granny Luo had finished cooking the medicinal porridge, the sun had already set, and Zhao Lishi still hadn't brought over the chicken soup.

"Peiyun, Peiyun!" Zhao Dazhuang strode in from outside.

Fang Peiyun slowly woke up and saw her husband whom she hadn't seen all day. She burst into tears, which worried Zhao Dazhuang greatly. Didn't his mother say that having a child meant everything would be alright?

Seeing this, Jiang Hua wisely stepped out of the house, leaving space for the young couple.

"How are the people inside?" Jiang Xingzhou asked casually as he saw her come out.

"It's all over now. Let's go eat first. They can probably chat for a while longer." Jiang Hua gave Granny Luo a wink, signaling her to instruct the others to serve the dishes.

At the dinner table, Jiang Xingzhou was very attentive, constantly putting food on her plate, afraid that she would go hungry.

"Eat more, you're so thin."

Jiang Hua paused, picking up food with her chopsticks, and looked down at her body. She was much better off than when she first transmigrated into this body. The original owner of this body hadn't had enough to eat or wear, which had left her with many ailments. Jiang Hua had cured them all with the spiritual spring water, and she had even gained weight, no longer as thin and bony as before.

"Oh, right, Aunt Liu and I have set the date. You can tell the chef at Mingyue Tower." Jiang Hua suddenly remembered that she and Aunt Liu had set the date today.

"Okay, I'll go to town tomorrow to pick A-Yi up too." Jiang Xingzhou nodded and put another piece of pork rib on her plate.
