Chapter 123 The Life I Chose

"Dr. Jiang!" Madam Meng looked at Jiang Hua, somewhat at a loss.

"It's alright, Madam Meng, we'll head over to Mingde Hall right now," Jiang Hua reassured her, and the two hurried towards Mingde Hall.

When Madam Meng arrived at Mingde Hall, she almost fainted when she saw Meng Xin lying on the bed with her lower body covered in blood. The nanny beside her quickly supported her.

"Madam Meng, please go out first. I'll help Miss Meng with this." Jiang Hua took the medicine box handed over by Manager Shen and pushed Madam Meng and the others out.

“Dr. Jiang.” Meng Xin’s eyes reddened when she saw Jiang Hua in front of her. “You’re right, I regret it.”

"Mmm." Jiang Hua responded softly, fed her a bowl of spiritual spring water, and then gave her anesthesia...

Two hours later, the door was opened again.

"Dr. Jiang, how is Meng Xin?" Madam Meng rushed in, the anesthesia still hadn't worn off on Meng Xin on the bed.

"The child could not be saved. The injury on the forehead looked like it was caused by being pushed or bumped, and there were also bruises on the body, which looked more like it was caused by being beaten."

I saw it when I was helping Meng Xin change her clothes, and I have to say, she really went all out.

"She should rest at Mingde Hall for a few days before going back. It's not advisable for her to be moved now."

"Okay, thank you very much, Dr. Jiang." Madam Meng nodded repeatedly and then asked the maid beside her to pay the consultation fee.

Looking at Meng Xin on the bed, Madam Meng's eyes were filled with disappointment. Did she have to humiliate herself like this before she would realize her mistake?

Half an hour later, the anesthesia wore off, and Meng Xin woke up again. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw her mother sitting in front of her hospital bed.

Her eyes started to redden again as she remembered all the hurtful things she had said to Liu Yan in order to be with her.

"Xinxin, you're awake? Are you still in pain?" Madam Meng asked in a lukewarm tone.

This attitude alarmed Meng Xin. Why was her mother being so distant from her?

Are you still angry with her?

"Mother, I was wrong. I shouldn't have disobeyed you and insisted on being with Liu Yan." Ignoring the pain in her body, Meng Xin sat up in bed.

"Calm down first, taking care of your health is the most important thing. We can talk about these things later." It would be a lie to say that Madam Meng wasn't distressed, but the things Meng Xin had said to her before had indeed hurt her.

"Your baby is beyond saving," Madam Meng said, observing Meng Xin's facial expressions.

When Meng Xin heard the news that the child was gone, she was stunned at first, and a trace of regret flashed in her eyes.

"It's good that he's gone, so he won't have such a bastard as his father."

Hearing Meng Xin's words, Madam Meng was somewhat surprised, and then she remembered the injuries on Meng Xin's body.

"What happened to your injuries? And how did you end up being brought here from Yingchun Tower?"

“Liu Yan’s mother is dead. Ever since he found out that I had cut ties with you, Mother, Liu Yan didn’t come home all night. He didn’t even care that his mother’s body was stiff.”

“I thought he had gone to do business. After asking around, I found out that he had gone to a brothel. The day I left home, all the jewelry I was wearing was pawned by him, and the money went to the brothel to indulge in debauchery.”

“I went to the brothel to find him, and he pushed me down the stairs.”

Upon hearing this, Madam Meng felt a pang of regret. In just one day, his true colors had been revealed, which showed that Liu Yan was nothing but a complete scoundrel.

"Mother, I know I was wrong. I will be obedient from now on," Meng Xin pleaded, carefully clutching Madam Meng's hem.

"If Liu Yan comes knocking again, what should you do?" Madam Meng slowly stood up, casually pulling out the hem of her dress.

Meng Xin felt a pang of sadness as she watched the hem of her dress being snatched away.

"Should I forgive him?"

Seeing that Meng Xin was still in a daze, Madam Meng continued to ask questions. Just as she was about to be disappointed in her daughter again, Meng Xin answered.

"I never want to see him again. Mother, you can do whatever you want with him."

"Alright, then you should rest and recuperate at Mingde Hall. If you feel unwell anywhere, just go see Doctor Jiang."

Before Meng Xin could respond, Madam Meng left Mingde Hall with her maid, leaving Meng Xin alone on the bed, heartbroken.

"Does the head injury still hurt? The wound is a bit deep and may leave a scar." Jiang Hua walked in slowly.

"However, there is medicine to remove scars."

"It doesn't hurt anymore. Thank you for your kindness, Dr. Jiang. I'll leave the scar on my forehead as it is; it will serve as a reminder in the future."

Seeing Meng Xin say this, Jiang Hua did not insist and respected her choice.

"Dr. Jiang, do you think my mother will forgive me? I really know I was wrong. Could you please put in a good word for me?"

Meng Xin felt increasingly uneasy. Before, when she had a headache and fever, her mother had taken care of her personally at her bedside without taking off her clothes.

This time, I've already lost a child and am still injured, yet her mother still left without any mercy. She already knows she was wrong, and the baby in my belly is gone as she demanded.

Is she still holding onto things from the past? She doesn't remember her mother being like this. She used to tolerate her mistakes, so why not this time?

Jiang Hua listened quietly as she spoke with increasing excitement, then chuckled softly, her face expressionless.

“Ms. Meng, perhaps my words are not pleasant, but since you have confided in me, I should respond to you.”

Whether Madam Meng forgives you or not is not something I can decide with a few words, and besides, you have never understood what you did wrong from beginning to end.

"From what you've said, I can tell that you're still resentful that Madam Meng didn't agree to you being together from the beginning and didn't offer you any help."

"You still believe that Madam Meng controls you and makes you do what she wants?"

“Isn’t that right?” Meng Xin blurted out in rebuttal.

"What did I say? That I wanted you to abort the child? Or that I wanted you to leave Liu Yan? But you didn't do either of those things, did you?"

"Meng Xin, have you forgotten? You chose to sever your mother-daughter relationship with Madam Meng in order to disobey her, didn't you? And you even betrayed her?"

“Meng Xin, you are not controlled at all. Being controlled is not like this. You are very smart, smart enough to know how to hurt your own mother the most deeply.”

"I didn't." Meng Xin said thoughtfully, recalling what she had been doing during this period.

"Now that you've lost your child and left Liu Yan, it was all your own choice. Madam Meng didn't interfere at all, so how could she be controlling your life?"

"Isn't this the life you chose?"

Jiang Hua sat on the soft couch, took a sip of tea, and looked at the ever-changing expressions on her face, which showed both hatred and regret.
