Xu dared not speak and could only look at Xu Wanli.
Xu Wanli was furious. What was the point of looking at him? What good was it?
"Apologize now and explain yourself to everyone," Xu Wanli snapped.
Xu had no choice but to stand up, bow her head, and explain to everyone that it was all a misunderstanding.
"Jiang Hua, you heard it too, your mother apologized, let's just let this matter go," Xu Wanli said, looking at Jiang Hua and Aunt Liu.
Aunt Liu had no choice but to nod. Seeing Jiang Hua nod in agreement, Xu Wanli spoke again:
“Jiang Hua, although your mother has smeared you, you also choked her. Look, there's a bruise around her neck.”
"So?" Jiang Hua asked casually, and before Xu Wanli could reply, she continued:
"There will be a next time, and I can't guarantee I won't let her go. Anyway, there are so many ferocious beasts in Black Wind Mountain. If we just throw the body into the deep mountains and destroy the evidence, no one will find it."
Xu's face turned pale immediately after hearing what Jiang Hua said.
"Jiang Hua, this is Xu Family Village, you can't act recklessly here!" Xu Wanli was startled and then said loudly, the implication being that if she wanted to stay in the village, she should behave herself.
"I can't just do whatever I want, I have to see if I'm as blind as others." Jiang Hua didn't take Xu Wanli's words to heart.
"You!" Xu Wanli felt a pain in his chest from anger and stopped dwelling on the matter.
"Alright, everyone, get out of here and go home." Xu Wanli stopped looking at Jiang Hua, then turned to the crowd behind him and said, "Xu family, next time, don't throw mud at people before you've figured things out!"
Aunt Liu finally breathed a sigh of relief after everyone had left.
"Huahua, you almost scared me to death just now," Aunt Liu said, patting her chest.
I just saw that Xu's face was all red, and I almost thought Jiang Hua was going to strangle her to death.
"Auntie, it's all my fault. I've dragged you into this too," Jiang Hua said apologetically.
"It's nothing, but it's good this way. We've seen what kind of person Xu is," Aunt Liu sighed.
"Stop talking and get to work, it'll be dark soon."
“Mother, Jiang Hua, let me help you,” Liu Tianming said, sitting down as well.
"What's wrong?" Jiang Hua asked, pulling away Jiang Jingyi's hand that was tugging at her clothes.
"Stepmother, please don't go to jail," Jiang Jingyi whispered.
"Don't worry, your stepmother knows what she's doing and won't go to jail," Jiang Hua reassured her.
After receiving Jiang Hua's assurance, Jiang Jingyi finally let go of her hand and obediently sat down to read.
"This child is too quiet," Liu Tianming remarked casually after glancing at him.
"They probably take after Xiao Jiang. Xiao Jiang doesn't talk much either, so the child's personality is the same," Aunt Liu explained.
"By the way, Brother Tianming, why are you back so early today?" Jiang Hua asked.
Aunt Liu also looked at Liu Tianming.
"Brother Tianming, is it because of the braising liquid recipe I have?" Jiang Hua asked, guessing.
"It's not entirely because of that. This shopkeeper is too heartless; he's always deducting from my wages," Liu Tianming said.
"Tianming, what exactly happened?" Aunt Liu asked earnestly.
“Our boss found out that I knew Jiang Hua, so he threatened me that if I didn’t let Jiang Hua give him the braising sauce recipe, he would fire me.”
"I was so angry that I quit." Liu Tianming scratched his head and said, "Jiang Hua, don't take it to heart. I've been wanting to quit working at Guangfu Restaurant for a long time."
"It's better not to be a manager like that, but then we'll have to find new employees to make a living," Aunt Liu said with some regret.
"Brother Tianming, I never expected to drag you into this too," Jiang Hua said.
Guangfulou also made a mental note of it. She would come up with any underhanded tricks just for the braising liquid recipe she had.
"It's alright. Qing Shi Town is so big, we can't not find a single job," Liu Tianming said dismissively.
"Yes, Huahua, don't overthink it. The shopkeeper must be a good person to say that," Aunt Liu comforted her.
"Okay, Auntie." Jiang Hua didn't say much, but just made a mental note of it.
It wasn't until the sun was almost setting that the three of them finished processing the 100 pounds of chicken feet.
"Auntie, don't go back tonight. Stay here for dinner and try my cooking," Jiang Hua said while preparing the chicken offal she had bought.
Aunt Liu was about to refuse when her son preemptively agreed.
"Great, Jiang Hua, I've been craving your cooking," Liu Tianming said.
"You good child, really." Aunt Liu glanced at her good-for-nothing son: "Huahua, let me help you."
"No need, Auntie, I can do it myself," Jiang Hua politely declined.
"Auntie, why don't you go back and invite Uncle Liu over for dinner?"
"Alright then." Seeing that Jiang Hua refused, Aunt Liu didn't insist on helping.
After cleaning the dirt out of the chicken offal, Jiang Hua scrubbed it several times with cornstarch and salt until the water became clear.
"Tianming, you and Ayi wait in the yard first." Jiang Hua carried the cleaned chicken offal and side dishes into the kitchen.
I diced the chicken gizzards and set them aside. I also chopped the pickled peppers I took out of my spatial storage and cut the pickled cowpeas I bought from the market into small pieces.
Now that Jiang Xingzhou is gone, Jiang Hua is making good use of the space's seasonings.
With duck gizzards, pickled cowpeas, pickled peppers, green and red peppers, ginger and garlic all prepared, Jiang Hua started a fire. She put the chopped chicken gizzards into a pot of cold water, added cooking wine she had taken from her space, and ginger and scallions that she had prepared in advance to remove the fishy smell.
Once the chicken gizzards in the pot have changed color, remove them and set them aside.
Cut the pickled green beans, put them in a pan without oil, stir-fry over low heat until the moisture evaporates, then remove and set aside.
In a separate wok, heat oil, add ginger, garlic, pickled peppers, green and red peppers, then add pickled cowpeas and stir-fry until fragrant. Finally, add the blanched chicken gizzards.
Add appropriate amounts of salt and soy sauce, along with oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, and chicken bouillon for seasoning. Stir-fry over high heat until flavorful, then remove from heat and serve.
And just like that, a dish of tangy, spicy, and refreshing stir-fried chicken gizzards with pickled green beans is ready.
Jiang Hua chopped up the remaining chicken intestines and hearts, marinated them with some cooking wine and salt, and then peeled two loofahs she had bought at the market that day to make a chicken offal and loofah soup.
First, wash the peeled loofah thoroughly, then cut it into chunks using a rolling cut. Heat oil in a pan, add chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant. Then add the loofah and a suitable amount of salt and stir-fry.
After stir-frying the loofah until soft, add water, cover and wait for the water to boil. Then add the marinated chicken giblets, stir, and cover again.
