"Give us more, there's so much, you can't possibly finish it all," said Madam Xu, looking at the overflowing bowl of wolf-tooth potatoes.
It's foolish not to take advantage of a good deal. Whether it's delicious or not, I've saved on another dish tonight.
Aunt Liu ignored Madam Xu's greedy words and simply shoveled a bowl over her shoulder.
Then he went into the kitchen to get busy.
Madam Xu tasted a piece of the wolf-tooth potato in the bowl, and her eyes lit up. Although it was a little cold, it was still delicious.
"Yan Yan, come and try it!" Madam Xu called out to Lin Shu Yan inside the house.
"Grandma, what's wrong?" Lin Shuyan came out and asked.
"This was made by Aunt Liu's family. She said it's sold at her stall. You should try it, it's delicious," said Madam Xu.
"Did Aunt Liu make this?" Lin Shuyan thought of Jiang Hua again. Recently, Aunt Liu and the others have been getting so close to Jiang Hua, so Jiang Hua must have taught them how to make it.
"Grandma, may I share some with Brother Xuan and that Young Master Ye?" After tasting a piece, Lin Shuyan confirmed that it was indeed a flavor she had never tasted before.
"I was thinking of saving it for dinner as a dish!" said Madam Xu, then remembered that Madam Liu had a lot left.
"Take it, but remember to leave some for Yaozu." Madam Xu didn't forget her precious grandson.
Lin Shuyan divided the bowl of wolf tooth potatoes into three portions, giving one portion to Zhou Yingxuan and one to Xu Yaozu, before finally knocking on the door of one of the rooms.
"Who is it?" A pleasant male voice came from inside the house.
“Young Master Ye, it’s me, Yan Yan,” Lin Shuyan replied in a gentle, soothing voice.
"Miss Lin, is there something you need?" Ye Shaoling asked as he opened the door.
"Young Master Ye, didn't you say you wanted to try my cousin's cooking?"
"This is a new dish she made, wolf tooth potatoes. I specially brought it over for Young Master Ye to try."
Lin Shuyan slowly walked in and placed the bowl of wolf tooth potatoes she was carrying on the table.
Ye Shaoling looked over and saw that it was just oddly shaped potatoes; no matter how good it tasted, it was still just potatoes.
However, under Lin Shuyan's gaze, she still tasted a piece.
"Miss Lin's cousin is truly capable," Ye Shaoling remarked.
Potatoes are good, but the key is the dressing for them.
If we could get our hands on these seasoning recipes and use them in Guangfulou's dishes, the business would surely boom.
Ye Shaoling pondered for a moment before asking, "Miss Lin, where is your cousin now? Can I see her?"
“Young Master Ye, that’s definitely possible.” Lin Shuyan readily agreed, then looked at him with a troubled expression, as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.
"Miss Lin, is there something inconvenient?" Ye Shaoling asked immediately.
"Young Master Ye, my cousin has a rather difficult temperament, and I'm afraid she might offend you," Lin Shuyan said after much hesitation.
"It's alright, I know that not every woman is as good as Miss Lin," Ye Shaoling said with a smile.
"Young Master Ye, please don't say that." Lin Shuyan blushed slightly, then remembered that Zhou Yingxuan was still waiting for her outside, and changed her words:
"Young Master Ye, once you've recovered, I'll take you to see your cousin. For now, focus on healing and let me know if you need anything."
"Then thank you very much, Miss Lin." Ye Shaoling stood up to see her off.
After Lin Shuyan went out, she ran to Zhou Yingxuan's side and walked alongside him.
Ye Shaoling looked at Zhou Yingxuan walking beside Lin Shuyan and wondered why he seemed so irritating.
Although this man saved him, he felt a little uncomfortable seeing Lin Shuyan standing next to him.
"Fine," Ye Shaoling closed the door, turned around and went inside. Suddenly, a man in black appeared in the room.
"How's the investigation going?" Ye Shaoling asked coldly, his demeanor completely changed from before.
"Your Highness, we've found out. It wasn't the Shen family who did it," the man in black reported respectfully, bowing.
"If it's not the Shen family, then who is it?" Ye Shaoling considered the people in the capital, then quickly ruled them out one by one.
His decision to come to Qing Shi Town was sudden. Apart from those around him, no one else knew his whereabouts. Could there be a mole among them?
Thinking about it, Ye Shaoling's gaze fell on the man in black in front of him again.
"Keep investigating until you find out. I refuse to believe those people just vanished into thin air!" Ye Shaoling declared.
"Yes, Your Highness," the man in black nodded in response.
...
"Stepmother, where are you going?" Jiang Jingyi asked immediately when he saw Jiang Hua picking up her basket and preparing to leave.
"Let's go catch river crabs," Jiang Hua replied.
“Those are man-eating insects,” Jiang Jingyi retorted. “Then I’ll go with you.”
So clingy?
However, I'm afraid I won't be able to leave the house today.
As soon as Jiang Hua stepped into the courtyard, she saw Lu Dayong coming over with red flowers and a jar of pickled vegetables in his arms.
"Thank you so much, Sister Jiang, for saving my life." Honghua walked up to Jiang Hua and knelt down in front of her with a thud.
“Village Chief Lu said that if you hadn’t been there yesterday, my aunt and the others would have already taken me to Yingchun Tower,” Honghua said while kowtowing.
"Get up." Jiang Hua helped Honghua, who was kneeling and kowtowing on the ground, to her feet.
“It’s not all my credit; the villagers of Shili Village have also been protecting you,” Jiang Hua said.
She never saw this kind of unity and mutual assistance in Xujia Village, but she had just witnessed them "robbing" each other a couple of days ago.
Thinking about this, Jiang Hua had the idea of moving to Shili Village.
"Sister Jiang, I don't have much to repay you with, but these are some pickled green beans I made. Here, have some." Honghua said, looking at the jar in Lu Dayong's hand.
"The pickled bamboo shoots you asked me to pickle last time aren't ready yet. I'll bring them to you when they're done."
"Okay." Jiang Hua nodded.
"Please don't sit down. You are guests, and please don't mind that my place is simple. Please sit down and have some water."
Jiang Hua gave Jiang Jingyi a look, signaling him to go inside and bring out two chairs.
She went into the kitchen and made two bowls of sugar water. Most people in the village who had some spare money would add sugar to boiling water when entertaining guests. She hadn't bought any tea leaves, so she would just make do with this for now.
"Thank you very much, Miss Jiang," Lu Dayong said as he took the cup of sugar water.
"What are your plans for the future?" Jiang Hua asked, glancing at Honghua. "Will you continue selling pickled beans at the market like before?"
"Mmm." Honghua nodded weakly.
"How about this, you come and help me with my work, and I'll pay you," Jiang Hua said.
"I'll be opening a food stall in town, and I'll need someone to wash the dishes."
"Really?" Honghua looked at Jiang Hua, her eyes sparkling.
"Stepmother, when are you going to open a shop in town? How come I didn't know?" Jiang Jingyi asked Jiang Hua in confusion.
