Chapter 260: Happy Chat 4

Chapter 260: Happy Chat 4

Because we arrived before the movie started and it was already evening, their stall was set up under the street lights, and the sweet potato flesh, which was as golden as gold, was placed in the most conspicuous position.

Under the light, the thick and lingering heat dissipated bit by bit with the wind.

Soon, people who were preparing to go into the factory to watch a movie came to the stall to inquire about the prices.

Chen Xiang and Zhou Dongmeng had a clear division of labor like they did yesterday, one was responsible for greeting customers and the other was responsible for collecting money and roasting sweet potatoes. They were busy for about twenty minutes. As the movie started, the number of customers in front of the stall gradually decreased.

After waiting for a while, the show in Theater 2 was about to start.

The young couple became busy again.

We were so busy that it was almost eight o'clock, when the first movie ended.

People who had just finished watching the movie came out of the theater one after another. Some of them had been enjoying a sweet potato inside, and now when they came out they saw that the sweet potato stall was still there, so they walked over and became repeat customers.

Chen Xiang and his friends continued selling until after eight o'clock. This time, there were fewer pedestrians on the dimly lit street, so they packed up their stall and went home.

We didn't talk much along the way, and after riding for an hour, we finally got home.

As soon as they turned into the alley, Chen Xiang saw that a light was still on in the east room of the Zhou family. Zhou's mother usually refused to light the oil lamp, but the light was still on so late, which meant that Zhou's father and mother were waiting for them.

This kind of waiting, tinged with the warmth of the oil lamp, ironed deep into her heart.

This is a warmth that I have never experienced in my two lifetimes...

As soon as the two of them entered the fenced yard, Zhou's mother, who had been keeping an eye on the activities in the yard, immediately came out of the room with an oil lamp and whispered, "Stop packing and get inside."

Chen Xiang bent down to pick up her wallet and water bottle, then turned around and said to her, "Mom, it's cold outside. Please go back soon. Mengzi and I will be there soon."

Zhou's mother did not go back, but came over and worked with them.

When everything was done, the three of them entered the house one after the other. Zhou's mother walked in the back, closed the door with her backhand, and asked softly, "Are you hungry? Do you want to have some more food?"

Zhou Dongmeng was actually not that hungry, but he was afraid that the little girl was hungry, and he was embarrassed to say it.

He turned around and said, "Mom, I'm hungry."

"Okay, you two go wash up quickly and I'll set the table."

As Zhou's mother spoke, she bent down and lifted the lid of the pot. A burst of hot steam filled the entire kitchen. She took out the warm food from the pot and scooped a few spoonfuls of hot water from the bottom of the pot into the basin, leaving it for her son and daughter-in-law to use for washing.

Then she carried the food back to the east room.

Chen Xiang and Zhou Dongmeng simply washed up and came to the east room and sat at the dining table. She asked in a low voice, "Is my dad asleep?"

Father Zhou heard the sound and opened his eyes: "No sleep."

Zhou Dongmeng asked him: "When did the driver leave?"

"It took a long time to eat before leaving."

Zhou's mother sat opposite them, helping to pick up dishes, pour water and serve rice, and said with a smile: "Your father and the driver are chatting very well. I haven't seen your father chatting so happily with anyone in a long time."

Upon hearing this, Chen Xiang glanced sideways at Zhou Dongmeng deeply.

Suddenly I understood why he asked the driver to stay for dinner. It turned out that he saw that my father-in-law had no one to talk to every day, and he was either weaving baskets or listening to the radio...

Chen Xiang nodded slowly and asked with a smile, "Dad, what did you guys talk about? You seemed so happy chatting."

Father Zhou put down the battery box in his hand, narrowed his eyes, and chatted with his son and daughter-in-law. She could clearly see that the expression on Father Zhou's face was different from usual.
