The man coaxed her for a long time, and when someone saw the fire and came to watch the fun, Bai Chi finally put away the sadness on his face.
"Aren't you leaving?"
The bags have been packed. If it weren't for the delay in rescuing him, we would have reached the town by now.
The man waved his hand and said, "Don't worry. I wanted to go back to my hometown, but there's no one left there. I'd be all alone if I went back."
The village chief came over at this time. When he saw the man, there was still a smile on his face, but when he turned around and saw Bai Chi, his face suddenly turned cold.
"Lin, I heard you scared the village kids just now. They went home crying. You're such a grown man, how could you be so mean to them?"
Just one meeting was enough to tell how bad the villagers' attitude towards the original owner was.
Before Bai Chi could say anything, the man became unwilling.
"Hey, village chief, those guys pushed me into the river and threw stones at me. Open your eyes and take a good look. If I hadn't gotten there in time, I would have been killed by them!"
The man pointed at the scar on Baichi's forehead and glared at the village chief indignantly.
"Such a young child dared to kill someone. It's fine if nothing happened, but if something did happen, wouldn't they be afraid of being killed by evil spirits? If this kind of kid is not taught well now, who knows how much trouble he will cause when he grows up!"
The village chief was obviously a little afraid of the man. After being sprayed, he just moved his lips a few times. Finally, he glared at Bai Chi and turned away.
After he left, the man frowned and said, "Why didn't I notice this before? Why is the village chief like this? As the village chief, he didn't even ask about the fire in the villagers' houses?"
Bai Chi gently tugged at his sleeve and whispered, "My grandma picked me up. I'm not from this village."
So it is understandable that the village chief ignored him.
"Your household registration is not in the village?"
Bai Chi quickly said, "Yes, in the village."
The man snorted, "That's it. Your household registration is in the village, so you belong to the village. As the village chief, he shouldn't just sit back and do nothing!"
But seeing Bai Chi looking sad, he guessed something and looked up and touched the boy who had just reached his shoulder.
"Is it because of your hair?"
The young man under his palm trembled, and the man frowned. He always felt that the young man should not be so timid, he should be full of vigor and vitality.
"Although there are fewer people with white hair, they do exist. I've seen them at the border before. There are also people with red hair, yellow hair, and even charcoal-black skin. It's quite normal."
The boy suddenly looked up, his eyes filled with shock and disbelief: "Really? Isn't white hair a monster?"
The man frowned.
"Of course they're not monsters! They're all human beings, with flesh and blood, who eat and drink just like us. No one has ever stipulated that people must have black hair and black eyes."
The boy burst into laughter immediately: "So I'm not a monster."
The man felt sad for a moment, but when he saw the smile on the boy's face, he felt much better.
Then the young man perked up, looked up at him with a smile, and said, "Brother, my name is Lin Baichi. What's your name?"
The smile was so bright that the man was dazzled for a moment.
"My last name is Hu, Hu Yunxiao. You can just call me Brother Hu."
The smile on Bai Chi's face grew even bigger. Hu Yunxiao felt dizzy, and then he saw the young man's red lips slightly open.
"Brother Hu, my house is completely burned down, and your package seems to have been lost in the fire. What should we do now?"
Hu Yunxiao was suddenly alert and his eyes widened.
"Yes! A package, a banknote! My banknote!"
