Chapter 28: Strange Beasts

Luo Yan took Shi Liuli and escaped several miles away under the cover of the forest. Shi Liuli barely broke free from the dragon's might and struggled to swallow a pill.

"They didn't catch up?" Shi Liuli asked nervously.

Although the lady is very smart, she has too little experience in life-and-death situations, and her psychological quality is a bit behind.

Luo Yan gently stroked her back and nodded:

"Um."

"Why?" Shi Liuli asked with a frown.

It’s not that she wanted those dragon monks to chase after her, but she was worried that there might be some conspiracy or trap here.

"Because they think I'm very strong." Luo Yan laughed.

Shi Liuli was silent for a moment and asked:

"The Peacock Clan?"

Forget it, my attempt to show off failed.

This lady is too smart, which is not a good thing sometimes... Luo Yan could only nod and admit it, saying:

"If a human cultivator learns the innate five elements chaos divine light, will anyone believe it if they tell others about it?"

"Indeed." Shi Liuli sighed.

It's just like when a human cultivator throws out talismans as if they are free during a fight, everyone will immediately think that the other party is a cultivator from Penglai. This is a stereotype that has accumulated over the years.

"So what should we do now?" Shi Liuli continued to ask.

"Why don't you do the math, ma'am?"

"It's a matter of life and death, so we should be more cautious." Shi Liuli shook his head and refused. "What if the other party sees us again and follows the Qi Qi to find us?"

"Hmm..." Luo Yan thought that made sense, so he decided to scan it.

When he scanned over there, he found that there was no trace of Shi Yao and the others within the range.

Running so fast?

Luo Yan looked around again and was surprised to find that the two of them had already arrived in a valley.

The reason why I was surprised here was that along the way I had traveled, there were only wildly growing trees and weeds everywhere, and there was almost no place for people to rest comfortably.

But there was an open space in this valley. The trees on the outside grew to the edge of the open space and did not invade further, as if they were blocked by some invisible barrier.

Shi Liuli also noticed something strange here, and guessed thoughtfully:

“There may be a treasure hidden here.”

"Hmm..." Luo Yan thought, how could I not know? Seeing that the trees outside couldn't get in, it was obvious that there was a treasure that could restrain the trees!

I scanned over and over, but I didn't find any traces. There wasn't even any spatial fluctuations. Can you do this, Jing?

"Stupid!" Kunlun Mirror laughed at him, "The reason why the trees avoid this place is not because there is a rare treasure hidden here, but because some kind of rare treasure has been here before, and the trees are afraid of the aura it left behind."

"So that's it!" Luo Yan suddenly realized, and seeing Shi Liuli still frowning and fortune-telling, he reminded her, "Madam, is there a possibility that some kind of strange treasure came here and left its aura, causing the trees to grow around this area?"

"Oh oh oh." Shi Liuli also understood and cast another divination, which confirmed this statement.

"In that direction." She pointed ahead and said, "It should be heading in that direction."

The two of them ignored the dragon monks and just quickly moved forward in the direction where the strange treasure had gone.

After a while, a similar open space appeared again in front of us, and trees could only grow around the edge of the open space.

"Liuli." Luo Yan thought again and said, "You said... if this treasure moves in a straight line, then the area without trees should be in a straight line, connecting the open space just now directly to the open space here."

"But, in fact, they are two unconnected empty spaces." Shi Liuli pondered for a moment and said, "So, it is a movement similar to jumping?"

"Every time the magic weapon landed, it destroyed the surrounding trees and vegetation, then 'jumped' up again, swept through the air, and landed in the next place, creating another treeless area."

"In that case, it may not be a magic weapon." Luo Yan said doubtfully, "Could it be some kind of strange beast?"

He flew up on his sword and soared above the treetops.

In the green forest in the distance, there were still similar circular open spaces, but there were no signs of any strange beasts jumping around.

Shi Liuli squatted down, looked at the ground at his feet, and said:

"Outside it's all dirt, but this open space is all sand."

"Sand is produced by burning soil?" Luo Yan asked in surprise.

"Yeah." Shi Liuli put two fingers together, inserted the Zi Ji Han Yuan Sword into the ground, and quickly shook the sand to both sides.

"Look, my dear, even several feet underground, it is still this dry sandy soil..."

"The opponent is not jumping in the air." Luo Yan also reacted quickly, "but moving underground."

"Every time it breaks out of the ground, it destroys the surrounding trees. This makes sense."

"If the other party is hiding underground, it will be difficult to find him." Shi Liuli began to tell fortunes.

Luo Yan also scanned the area and found that the ground around him was all soil, but the ground here was sandy and it kept winding downwards. The soil quality was obviously different from the surrounding area.

"I can't figure it out." Shi Liuli sighed, "Maybe I calculated too much today."

Luo Yan suddenly felt strange: Is your magic powered by batteries? Will it run out of power after using it for a long time?

As if seeing her husband's doubtful thoughts, Shi Liuli explained:

"To put it in an analogy, the fate of all things is arranged by heaven, and some people can guess the subsequent arrangements of heaven by observing heaven."

"So-called spying is, after all, just taking advantage of the loopholes in the Way of Heaven. If you spy too much in a short period of time, the Way of Heaven will inevitably react. If you force yourself to probe again, it will easily lead to trouble."

"In that case, ma'am, don't worry about it for now. Leave it to me." Luo Yan said quickly.

He rubbed his hands together, and five-colored divine light came out and shot rapidly toward the ground.

Soon, the sand and soil under the ground were completely dissolved by the five-colored divine light, and condensed into a golden and iron corridor around it, which fixed and supported the tunnel and prevented it from collapsing.

Shi Liuli looked down and saw that Luo Yan was so considerate as to give her a way out, which really warmed her heart.

The two walked down the stairs, and Shi Liuli suddenly asked:

"Husband, is the temperature around you a little high?"

"Yes, the fire spirit energy is a bit too active." Luo Yan also nodded and said, "I think it is either some kind of fire treasure or a fire beast."

After walking down for several hundred feet, the surroundings suddenly began to tremble strangely.

"Be careful!" Luo Yan immediately activated his true energy, and the five-colored divine light suddenly became stronger, surging in all directions.

Shi Liuli also used the Taoist techniques to activate the Taiwei Gouchen Yaopo Star Sand to form a thick and solid barrier around the two of them, ready to defend against attacks from all around.

A moment later, the corridor in front suddenly collapsed.

Three pairs of scarlet round eyeballs appeared from the gap in the wall.
