Thanks to Li Xuanzu, the leader of the Sai Kingdom was replaced by someone who was relatively clear-headed, or at least someone who could get things done.
As a result of Li Xuanzu's reckless blood-draining, the population of the Sai Kingdom has decreased by nearly 30%.
Most of them were children, which is undoubtedly a huge blow to Serbia.
Why would Eris, the goddess who loves to stir up conflict in mythology, make such a sacrifice for the people of Cyprus?
In layman's terms, the gods in mythology are not so cold and heartless; on the contrary, they treat their followers like children treat their parents.
The gods are the ones who take, so naturally they will consider the needs of the believers who summoned them.
If they don't even love their own followers, how can their followers continue to provide the power of faith?
"Actually, bringing you back to the Dragon Kingdom was just to be a hostage. Don't worry, your faith power can be absorbed normally. I went a bit overboard with that act just now, so I apologize."
Li Xuanzu changed his arrogant tone and adopted a gentle one.
Even though they were all enveloped in a huge blood-red dome, the atmosphere was extremely eerie.
Eris was clearly not buying it; she merely glanced at Li Xuanzu sideways, her face remaining expressionless.
"To be honest, why are you going to all that trouble? Your psychic combat strength is inferior to that of the Dragon Kingdom, and your reserves of faith power are not as good as those of the Nordic region. Is winning against that chosen one really that important?"
Li Xuanzu asked, puzzled.
Eris seemed to have a nerve touched, and suddenly turned to look at Li Xuanzu.
"What do you know? How can you, a nation without gods, possibly comprehend the concept of divine selection?"
Seemingly realizing that his tone was inappropriate, a hint of fear flashed in Eris's eyes, but it quickly disappeared, and he continued with that listless, lifeless expression.
"The Chosen One is your Dragon Kingdom's breeding of Gu poison, to determine the most powerful god and absorb the faith power of the entire Blue Star."
"The fate of the remaining gods is to be used as nourishment, offering up their divine power to feed the victors."
"Shouldn't you and your brothers and sisters be fighting your own battles? Why are you acting like you have a deep bond?"
This was something that puzzled Li Xuanzu.
"That's why you don't understand. We all come from the same lineage. In the end, it's just a matter of who has the greatest ability. The rest will contribute voluntarily. Don't think of everyone as being too selfish."
Eris's tone was undisguisedly sarcastic.
"Haha, bound by a hollow bloodline, you think you're so selfless? If I were your brother, I would also have a deep bond with you."
"Heartless, cold-blooded, and selfish, I have never seen a human being as wicked as you. You are simply..."
"He's a complete scumbag. Isn't he?"
Li Xuanzu finished speaking for Eris.
"I'm not being mean. You become stronger by relying on others, so you have the right to experience emotions. But what about me?"
Li Xuanzu pointed to himself.
"I have no family, no friends, no partner, and I can only rely on myself. It would be a lie to say that I don't feel sad when I see others gathered together, but I am never envious. The path I pursue will never have any companions."
“I know my story is very old-fashioned, and you old folks who have witnessed the changes of the world won’t be interested in it.”
Li Xuanzu relaxed and gently lay down on the protective wall of the blood shield.
"Hehe, how could I not envy human freedom? At least they have flesh and blood, real feelings, and understand joy, sorrow, anger and happiness."
And we, seemingly omnipotent 'gods,' even the things we've done, the abilities we possess, and even our personalities are determined by those who write our myths—that's truly pathetic.
Eris looked at Li Xuanzu with a mixture of pity and envy.
"No, why would I tell you all this? Anyway, you're just a piece of trash."
Eris seemed to have suddenly seen things clearly, and she didn't back down at all when mocking Li Xuanzu.
“You’re right, but the ‘scum’ you’re talking about has a terrible temper. He might turn around right now, grab a few people, and torture them to death in front of you to vent his anger.”
Li Xuanzu did not refute, but simply stared at Eris and calmly said these words.
"You...are beyond redemption!"
Eris was so angry that her eyebrows shot up and her delicate, slender fingers trembled with rage.
"Alright, stop looking so pitiful. A prisoner should act like a prisoner. I don't care how high and mighty you used to be. Once you're in my hands, I'll make you lower than a sow in this world."
"Chatting with you is just boring. Do you really think you can be my equal?"
"Take my word. You're no different from those prostitutes now. I'm not so desperate as to use your body to relieve my boredom, but I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to serve me."
Li Xuanzu has always been capricious, and Eris has witnessed it firsthand today.
He dared not say anything more, and Li Xuanzu did not speak to him again afterward.
Fortunately, the journey was not far, and four hours later, Li Xuanzu arrived directly in Kyoto.
I explained the situation to Mr. Huang on the way, but he was very slow to respond.
After all, you've directly kidnapped a deity; anyone would find that hard to understand.
"I...I'm in heaven! Ancestor, this...this is the goddess of discord you were talking about...Eris?!"
Old Huang's voice trembled, for the woman beside Li Xuanzu was simply too stunningly beautiful.
“Yes, I’ve brought the main body here. He was an accomplice in the Kyoto incident. I’m leaving this place to you. Ask him whatever you need to ask. If he disobeys, call me to teach him a lesson.”
Li Xuanzu tugged at the chains on his hands, and a force came from Eris's neck, causing him to lose his balance.
Li Xuanzu also put a new pair of shackles on his hands, and his feet were pierced through by two thick, sharp chains with barbs.
"Don't use dirty interrogation methods. Also, absolutely do not kill him. I don't care how you torture him, just don't use those low-down methods."
Li Xuanzu's unspoken meaning was quite clear: even he would find Eris's appearance unsightly, let alone Huang Lao and his subordinates, whose emotions and desires were even stronger than Li Xuanzu's.
"Uh, what kind of person do you take me for?"
Old Huang looked so righteous and indignant that Li Xuanzu would have actually believed him if his eyes hadn't kept glancing at Eris's face.
"Hehe, you better not try to act like an old man and act disrespectfully, I'll be watching."
Li Xuanzu glanced at Elder Huang with a slightly disdainful look, then handed the chain in his hand to Elder Huang.
Old Huang blushed at these words, but thankfully he didn't continue looking at Eris.
However, one end of the chain looked like a red-hot branding iron, and Old Huang refused to take it no matter what.
"Isn't it wrong of you to treat Him like this?"
"Suit yourself. If you don't want it to be like this, then find a way to take Him away yourself, find a way to pry something out of Him. If you have the ability to turn Him against His will, then I will truly admire you."
Li Xuanzu spread his hands, and the chains on his hands and the collar around Eris's neck disappeared into thin air.
