Chapter 19: Xuyang County Magistrate

The county magistrate quickly got out of bed, but found that he could not move at all and wanted to die.

I could only bite the bullet and say, "Lian, Lian'er, what's wrong with you? Don't scare me."

Lian Er, now Shen Si, turned stiffly and stared at the county magistrate, saying, "I am not Lian Er, I am Shen Si from Donglin Village. I was wronged in my life, and my soul cannot be reincarnated after death. Watching my enemies go unpunished, I feel as if my heart is being dug out every day."

Then he explained the whole cause and effect, and finally said that if his enemy was not brought to justice, he would never be able to reincarnate and would have to come to "disturb" the county magistrate every day.

After hearing this, Magistrate Luo swallowed hard and said to Lian'er with rapid breathing, "Don't worry, I, as the parent official of Xuyang County, will definitely redress your grievances."

As soon as Magistrate Luo finished speaking, he saw "Lian'er"'s body soften and fall on the bed.

Now that he was able to move again, he quickly got out of bed and ran out without even putting on his shoes.

The villagers of Donglin Village had finished their breakfast in the morning and were preparing to go to work in the fields, but unexpectedly a team of constables entered the village.

The leading constable stopped a villager and asked him how to get to Sun Gui's home. The villagers were a little afraid of the people from the government, so their words were incoherent and unclear.

The captain of the police could only let him lead the way. When they arrived at Sun Gui's house, the door was wide open and the ground was a mess.

The captain of the police walked into the inner room and found a black body lying on the ground. Sun Gui was lying on the bed, unconscious.

The captain saw a wet stain on Sun Gui's crotch and didn't want to move forward. However, he shouted Sun Gui's name twice, but the other party was still lying on the bed, unaware of anything.

He could only go up to him and slap him twice in the face, but Sun Gui still didn't wake up.

The captain had no choice but to order the other two detectives to pull Sun Gui up from the bed and drag him away like a dead dog.

He turned around and went to the home of the village head Zheng Yangping and took his entire family away.

Donglin Village was suddenly in an uproar, and the villagers were talking about it.

When all this happened, Gu Lingze was sitting at the table, eating egg custard spoonfully.

Gu Lingze felt that Aunt Tao's cooking skills had been getting better and better recently.

Take the egg custard for example. It was smooth and tender in the mouth, the marinade was fresh and flavorful, and it was sprinkled with some fresh chopped green onions. He ate two bowls in a row.

Before he finished eating, he heard a knock on the door. Jinzi ran over to open the door and found it was Doctor Li.

Doctor Li came in and said, "Something big happened in the village. A group of constables came early in the morning and directly dragged away Sun Gui, as well as the head of the village and his family!"

Except for Gu Lingze, all members of Uncle Xu's family stood up in surprise. Then, when they reacted, they all lowered their heads to look at Gu Lingze.

Gu Lingze put down the bowl and said slowly, "Let's go to the county government office."

Uncle Xu's family, Gu Lingze's siblings and Doctor Li borrowed an ox cart and rushed to the county government office.

Before setting off, Gu Lingze secretly pasted two pieces of talisman paper on an invisible place under the cart. Sure enough, the ox cart sped along the way and everyone did not feel the bumps and cold wind that they usually felt when riding in the ox cart.

After all, they were anxious. The ox cart was moving fast, and when the cold wind blew, someone on the cart, young and old, plus Xu Mingyan who had just recovered from a serious illness, was bound to get sick.

The crowd didn't care about the awkward feeling. When they were almost there, they heard the voices of the bailiffs in the county government hall shouting in unison.

The court session had just begun, so they quickly got out of the car and rushed to the county government gate.

I saw Zheng Yangping and his wife, as well as Sun Gui kneeling in the lobby. Sun Gui had woken up, but for some reason he could make sounds but not speak.

Also kneeling were Zheng Yangping's two sons. The eldest son was the fat boy's father, and the younger son used to be a student, but he failed the examination to become a scholar, otherwise he would not have to kneel.

Magistrate Luo knocked the gavel and shouted, "Who is kneeling in the hall? Tell me your name."

Zheng Yangping's family each answered their names, except for Sun Gui, who made some noises that annoyed the county magistrate and was scolded to shut up.

When County Magistrate Luo thought about what happened last night, he wished he could beat to death those fools who had implicated him.

"Sun Gui cannot speak. Zheng Yangping, as the head of the village and his brother-in-law, you should let him answer." County Magistrate Luo said.

"I want to ask you, did Sun Gui, the man kneeling in the hall, force to death Chen Si, who was previously married to him?" County Magistrate Luo now broke out in cold sweat whenever he mentioned Chen Si's name.

"Sun Gui didn't force him to death. He had a conflict with my brother-in-law and couldn't think straight and committed suicide."

Zheng Yangping still wanted to argue at this time, which made them so angry that they clenched their fists.

Jinzi's eyes were red, and Gu Lingze put his arms around him and Lingzi's shoulders and held them in his arms.

When Magistrate Luo heard this, he knew that he was still trying to shirk responsibility for Sun Gui, and he angrily shouted, "As the head of Donglin Village, why didn't you report such a serious incident to the county government? What are your intentions?"

These words left Zheng Yangping speechless. He couldn't figure out how County Magistrate Luo knew about this, and why he would help Shen Si make the decision.

Seeing that he didn't say anything, County Magistrate Luo picked up the gavel and was about to hit him.

Suddenly Zheng Yangping shuddered, raised his head, and told the truth of everything clearly.

The family who were still kneeling, as well as the people of Xuyang County who were watching the excitement at the door, were all stunned.

This family has done so many evil things. Not only did they force people to death, they even asked Taoist priests to suppress the souls of the victims to prevent them from being reincarnated.

Death is the greatest thing, and this dynasty also emphasized burying the dead in peace.

Before the people could start cursing, Zheng Yangping said something that made everyone smack their lips and raise their eyebrows.

Previously, his youngest son Zheng Xin studied with Xu Mingyan from the same village. Because Xu Mingyan was extremely outstanding, Zheng Xin was extremely jealous.

He used this as an excuse not to study and even said that he could not pass the examination to become a scholar because of Xu Mingyan's discouragement.

At that time, Zheng Yangping happened to know from others that Taoist Wu was a man of some means, so he went to Taoist Wu, gave him some money, and asked him to think of a way to mess with Xu Mingyan.

Unexpectedly, Taoist Wu not only made Xu Mingyan sick, but also made him seriously ill.

Hearing this, Uncle Xu was so angry that his whole body was shaking. He picked up the drumstick and struck the drum at the door.

When County Magistrate Luo heard the drumbeats, he felt a headache and wanted to ignore it, but then he heard the county magistrate come to report that Xu Mingyan and his father were standing at the gate of the county government office, and it was his father who had been beating the drum just now.

Magistrate Luo had no choice but to wave his hand and let the bailiff bring the two men in. Uncle Xu knelt in the hall. Xu Mingyan was a scholar and according to the law he did not need to kneel.

"Student Xu Mingyan and my father come to pay their respects to Your Majesty." After saying this, Xu Mingyan bowed.

"I know why you beat the drum to seek justice. It's because of Zheng Xin." County Magistrate Luo knew it very well.

"Your Excellency is wise." Xu Mingyan finished speaking, bowed again, and continued, "Zheng Xin was just jealous of me, so he asked his father, the head of Donglin Village, to find someone to cast a spell to harm me. This is simply insane."

Magistrate Luo nodded and motioned for him to continue.
