The day before, late at night, passenger ship.
Zhang Keqi had a splitting headache and woke up from his coma. His first thought after regaining consciousness was not panic, but a kind of absurd gratitude, gratitude that he could still have thoughts. What he breathed in through his mouth and nose was the slightly fishy and salty sea breeze, and he was actually choking on sea water.
Fear belatedly forced him to open his eyes.
Then he saw a man with blood all over his hands. The more he wiped them with a tissue, the dirtier they became, and his entire body was stained. Zhang Keqi was so scared that he almost fainted.
It's not that he hasn't killed anyone before. He has countless lives on his hands. He has used cruel methods and even skinned and broken bones. But if the same thing happens to him one day and his identities are swapped, he won't be afraid just because he has done it. It is precisely because he has done it that he is more afraid.
The perpetrator is no braver than the victim.
Seeing him frantically groping his body, the man wiping the blood felt sick and rolled his eyes. He said, "The blood is my own. The wound was caused by glass. Your hands and feet are all there, but you only hit your head. You won't die."
Zhang Keqi gasped for air and turned his gaze to Lu Qing, looking at him with some anger, but more like he was about to cry but couldn't. He said, "I have no grudge against you, why are you plotting against me? Who ordered you to do that?"
"There are so many people out to plot against you," the man sneered, adding, "No one wants you to live. Take Wang Kai, for example. You've been with him for so many years, and you know all the bad things he's done. How could he let you leave Wanghai so carefree?"
Zhang Keqi wiped the blood that was about to dry on his face, spat, and asked curiously, "Then you guys are an exception. You let me fall here but didn't kill me?"
"I won't kill you, because you are useful." The man said with a smile.
Then Zhang Keqi looked around and found that he was relatively safe. His men and the guys who were already on the boat were tied up and thrown behind a pile of buckets like garbage. It looked like there were several people. It would be good if even the boat driver was not tied up.
"Is this all your plan? How dare you cheat me?" Zhang Keqi looked at Lu Qing who was sitting on the side and made up his mind.
He was wrong. Lu Qing trembled and said, "You think too highly of me. I'm just following orders. And I have to trick you. If someone has something on me, I can trick you to make sure he doesn't hand me over to the police."
Zhang Keqi's eyes suddenly widened. He looked at Lu Qing, who was squatting on the ground, then at the man, glancing back and forth. Then, exhausted, he lay back down and said with a self-deprecating tone, "After a lifetime of wandering around, I finally fell into the hands of such a blind idiot. It's kind of retribution, I guess."
Lu Qing was a little confused and asked curiously, "What do you mean? You have something else to say."
"Do you know who he is?" Zhang Keqi asked, pointing at the man.
"I don't know him." Lu Qing shook his head.
Zhang Keqi's heart was broken as he spoke slowly, "His surname is Qin, Qin Yehai. There's a big boss in Wanghai City who's also surnamed Qin, Qin Ye. Their family is famous for having three generations of police officers, both men and women. It's a family of police officers."
Lu Qing widened his eyes and looked at Qin Yehai as if he had seen a ghost.
Then he became a little more cheerful and said, "It's okay. It's good to be in there. If you're lucky, you can spend ten or twenty years in prison. It's better than being shot dead on the street."
"You're different," Zhang Keqi struggled to get up and said to Lu Qing, "Those things you sold are all punishable by death. Just wait for death."
Lu Qing understood this logic very well. He took the risk of offending a big shot in the underworld, just to be spared a chance to live. But now he realized that he was at a dead end.
He suddenly jumped up and was about to go crazy, but Qin Yehai predicted it in an instant and immediately hit the black muzzle of the gun, and then squatted back in great frustration.
Qin Yehai smiled and said, "Whether Lu Qingchen is redeeming himself for meritorious service, it's hard for you to say."
Zhang Keqi looked at him and suddenly said with a sarcastic smile, "You want me to 'accomplish merit'? You're trying to kill me. Even if I really accomplish something that would make up for the loss of a lifetime, how can you guarantee that I won't 'commit suicide' in prison at some point?"
"If I hadn't shown up, what would have happened to you?" Qin Yehai laughed heartily and said, "Don't harbor any illusions. If all these people on this boat were mine, why would I tie them up? Honestly, there are only two people here brought by Lu Qing. Whose are the rest? As for Wang Kai, let me be clear: they belong to your old subordinate Cui Lixue."
Zhang Keqi gasped heavily, and his trachea seemed to be frozen.
He closed his eyes in pain and said, "Please leave me a way out. They know me, Zhang Keqi, best. I won't betray anyone, and I won't say a word that I shouldn't."
"Of course there is a way to survive. Times have changed. This is not the last century when you big brothers in the underworld could do whatever you want and kill anyone you want." Qin Yehai patted his shoulder and went to the group of people who were tied up.
He pointed a gun at a man's head and said, "Wake up, you're in charge. I need you to do me a favor. Just nod if you're willing to cooperate. You'd better be sensible. We're at sea. I'll take the rag out of your mouth. You can't shout to get anyone to come. If you scare me so much that you fire a bullet, it won't be worth it."
Everyone had an indescribable expression on their faces. Could this guy really be a cop? He'd taken them all down in two or three minutes, and then he'd smashed the window and taken the gun, seemingly completely insensitive to the pain.
Now he is acting so aggressively, as if he is going to sink someone to the bottom of the sea if they have a disagreement with him.
