The sky made of nebulae hangs high in the sky, and the hot and humid vapor from the sea settles down, combining with the hormones from competing in the stadium in the morning, forming a distracting restlessness on the playground at night.
Many foreign guests who arrived in the afternoon left early and had dinner outside the school. After dinner, some of them felt that the event was boring, while a larger number of them knew very well that they came just for tonight's intermission performance.
Although most of the performances organized by the classes only focused on participation, students did not have much time and opportunities to hone their talents. The performances of the first few classes were mediocre. The occasional outstanding ones were mostly art students from the exclusive teaching building. They were all good at singing and dancing and stole all the attention.
There is only one exception.
In order to wait for this exception, the audience sat on the grass for two hours, from the opening to the finale.
The grand finale was nominally to be performed by all the students in Class 1 of Grade 3. However, they later decided that they did not belong to the climax of the evening, so they moved the group program forward and finished it early as a warm-up program. The grand finale was dedicated to the moon, which was well-deserved in the hearts of the students of this year's Haiyi Middle School.
Wang Jinling wore a light blue dress that gradually changed to dark blue from top to bottom, just like the deep starry sky. She had light makeup on her face, and sequins emitted fluorescent dots. The lights on the podium that served as the stage gradually brightened after she appeared on the stage, until the soft light illuminated her face, and boiling cheers came from the playground.
She only sang one song, dancing while singing, and was on stage for no more than five minutes. In just these five minutes, she overshadowed all the other accompanying stars. If nothing unexpected happens, this performance will become the deepest and perhaps the only memory of the Haiyi Middle School Sports Meet for all the audience today, tomorrow and in the distant future.
Many people thought so, including Pei Chengan and his group who were sitting away from the crowd.
After the quarrel at dusk, his father Pei Ziming lost interest in continuing the outing, but he still planned to wait until Wang Jinling went on stage to perform before leaving.
However, for some unknown reason, after Pei Ziming received a phone call, his expression suddenly changed, becoming extremely ugly, and he left the school in a hurry.
This made Pei Cheng'an feel uneasy. Perhaps something happened over there, but he didn't associate it with Chen Tinghan.
In his opinion, Chen Tinghan was just an ordinary citizen who was lucky enough to get close to the powerful Lin family. He was worthless and not worth mentioning.
This invisible worry only gradually dissipated after Wang Jinling took the stage.
"She is so beautiful." After the song ended and everyone dispersed, a second-generation man next to him exclaimed as if he had just realized what was happening.
Pei Chengan's eyes were full of admiration, and he said, "She is indeed very outstanding. I underestimated her before, thinking she was just a beautiful canary locked in a cage. However, she is so beautiful that even if she is a canary, she is still a top canary.
There is also surprising talent, which is good, very good.”
His tone was arrogant, as if Wang Jinling was within his grasp. However, the second-generations around him were willing to flatter him, saying, "Her father used to hide her away and protect her so well. He finally agreed recently. Otherwise, who would dare to pursue her?
Even if you want to pursue her now, you have to consider whether you have the ability and courage to become the son-in-law of the Wang family."
Pei Cheng'an looked at the girl who walked back behind the scenes, shook his head, and thought to himself, this canary is just beautiful and is too well protected. She has no scheming and no ability. It should be quite easy to make her nod, but her attitude is not the key at all.
The only one who can dominate her is her father Wang Kai.
So he and his father must come out on top in this game.
Just as she was thinking about it, a few people nearby started discussing again: "I heard that there really is a fearless person who has evil intentions. He's from Haiyi Middle School, a grade below her. His surname is Chen, I guess. He's been quite famous recently."
Pei Chengan laughed, shook his head, and said, "There's nothing to worry about. A child of an ordinary person who got a little bit of bad luck can make a little noise, but he won't know how he will die in the future."
"That's true."
A crowd of people echoed the voice. They had all seen or heard about Chen Tinghan's domineering behavior in front of the food stall that day. They were afraid of him and perhaps did not dare to offend him in person, but they could not avoid slandering him behind his back.
In fact, they looked down on Chen Tinghan from the bottom of their hearts, and all their fears were just speculation about the Lin family's attitude.
"Let's go," Pei Cheng'an patted the dirt off his legs and said, "She's finished singing. There's nothing interesting to see next. Let's leave early."
"Okay." Many of them yawned. After all, it was really late. Not only them, but many students on the playground also thought that this was the end.
But they forgot that the finale is the penultimate act. After the finale, there is another show, which is the real farewell performance that the school has been keeping secret about before and believes can best represent the school culture and bring the most face.
The students sitting cross-legged on the grass let out sporadic exclamations, which attracted their attention because the lights on the podium suddenly changed again, becoming deep, blue and elusive.
Six students from Class 8 of Grade 12 came on stage, three boys and three girls. The awkwardness on their faces could be seen even from a distance.
They were really nervous. They actually received a last-minute notice saying that Class 8's performance and mural display would be left to the last show. So the end result was that they were actually ranked behind senior Wang Jinling.
