Chapter 2 I With My Blood

The attacker and defender switched sides, and the pursuer became the murderer. The threat of the gun only faltered Wang Jinling for a moment. She quickly regained her composure and even looked at Chen Tinghan with interest. "I've been wondering what tricks you'd come up with to deal with me. I've thought of many possibilities, but I'm still a little surprised by this."

Chen Tinghan held the weapon, but his face didn't show much of a vicious, cold-blooded look. Instead, he looked a little strangely sunny. He said, "You haven't arrived yet. When I was sitting alone at the door of the restaurant, the owner would look at me from time to time."

"A delivery driver passed by five times in half an hour, taking his time during peak meal times. He walked into the same store each time, took the same package, and then drove to the other side of the bridge to smoke a cigarette."

"That young couple over there was leaning against the railing biting their ears for over an hour. I was paying attention to them when I first arrived, but I was so absent-minded that if you didn't know better you would have thought they were just a couple of strangers who happened to be standing together."

Wang Jinling blinked and sighed.

Chen Tinghan smiled slightly and said, "As expected of the boss of Wanghai, you bring so many bodyguards with you when you go out. It's so grand, just like a spy movie. But now they are all too far away from you."

As they were speaking, many people rushed to this corner, rushing in a hurry, thinking that they could do it without anyone noticing.

Wang Jinling sighed helplessly and waved her hand to stop their frantic actions. "I'm not actually worried that you'll shoot, but I'm really afraid they'll scare you. If your hand shakes, it would be too unfair for both you and me."

"You don't believe I will kill you?" Chen Tinghan said.

"I don't believe it. This isn't the first time you've had the chance to kill me in the past fifteen years."

"Even if you forced me to lose both my parents and leave everyone behind?"

"I never pushed you. It was you who pushed me. It was your pathetic sense of morality that pushed me to do that." Wang Jinling sneered, "You're not the kind of person who would resort to any means necessary when desperate. You don't want to become like me."

"I'm just curious now, where did my good man Chen Tinghan get the gun?"

Chen Tinghan smiled slightly and said, "You must know it. Think about it again."

Wang Jinling's gaze narrowed slightly, and she tilted her head slightly to examine the gun. She said in surprise, "A police pistol... that officer's? No wonder they've been searching for it for fifteen years without finding a single clue. Even I thought some reckless member of the Wang family had secretly taken it. They nearly plowed the entire Wanghai area for this gun."

Chen Tinghan said, "Back then, we all believed that your father, Wang Kai, was the mastermind behind this incident, and that you were a poor girl who suffered from domestic violence from your scumbag father. To save you, he was willing to risk his own life and take risks. I'd be disgusted if you forgot about him."

"He is a good policeman." Wang Jinling praised sincerely.

"This good policeman had a question that remained unanswered until his death: If he had always held on to his bottom line, could he have possibly outplayed the likes of you?" Chen Tinghan sighed.

"A dead man certainly can't think anymore, but I can help him think, so this gun is not meant to kill you."

As Chen Tinghan spoke, he spun the pistol in his hand and put it into Wang Jinling's hand. He leaned very close, looking ambiguous and charming, but it was just an appearance. In fact, he was using a lot of force, almost forcing Wang Jinling to move forward.

Wang Jinling remained calm and asked, "Then what are you going to do?"

As they walked, he whispered in Wang Jinling's ear, "I used to wonder, can anyone truly live their entire life without making any mistakes? Even you're bound to reveal some flaws, right? And it turns out you haven't. You've been so flawless, so precise, that I've come to admire you."

"But after my parents passed away, I realized something: no matter how powerful Wang Jinling was, she was still a mortal, and couldn't escape the mundane affairs of the world. If you want to get things done, you have to use people, and those people you use are bound to have weaknesses."

"That's a very good idea." Wang Jinling praised, just like praising a child who showed off his high-scoring test paper to her. In essence, she still didn't take it seriously, and there was a hint of arrogance in her voice, as if criticizing him for not getting a full score.

Chen Tinghan didn't take it seriously. He smiled and said, "I definitely can't just tell you this trick dryly. It will be revealed in the future. Just wait and see. Now, there is something important. Can you tell me about it?"

Wang Jinling said, "I'm all ears."

The two gradually left the deserted parking lot and returned to the bustling coast.

"For all these years, I've had a question. So many people who tracked you down have died. Anyone who showed even the slightest sign of harming you would be immediately eliminated. So why, after all these years, am I the only one still alive and kicking?"

Wang Jinling's smile suddenly froze. She opened her mouth but had nothing to say. If it were just now, she would definitely smile and say: Because I like you.

But now she couldn't say this, she smelled an unusual smell of danger.

Chen Tinghan looked at her, smiled, and said, "Is it because I'm smart? Is it because I'm cautious? That's not a good enough reason. I am a little clever, but if someone like you really wanted to kill me, I definitely wouldn't be alive today."

"This question is even more troubling to me than how to bring you down. So, I just deliberately stayed out of your sight. On the one hand, the people around me really couldn't stand your threats anymore. I had to cut ties with them completely before I could fight you. On the other hand, I really wanted to know how you would react if I stopped pursuing you."

Wang Jinling was silent for a moment, then suddenly raised the corner of her mouth and said playfully, "You are very self-indulgent."
