Chapter 424: Deep Sea Horror 26

The sea level was like a pool of stagnant water, without even a ripple.

The sea water was pitch black in color. At first glance, it looked more like some kind of black sticky liquid, similar to some kind of petroleum. There was a foul smell on the sea surface, which was even a bit irritating to the eyes.

Josh frowned slightly and subconsciously held his breath.

If you look closely, you will find that the sea surface is full of floating corpses of marine creatures, including various dead fish, whales, dolphins, and small fish and shrimps. They must have been dead for a long time, and the smell is scary.

From time to time, bubbles would burst out from some places, making it look like it was about to explode at any time.

A deep voice sounded behind him: "Do you know how long we have survived in this environment?"

Josh turned his head and saw the statue behind him.

She frowned slightly: "How long?"

Statue: "Hundreds of years."

"Since this sea lost its king, the water has lost its ability to purify. The king followed the queen's footsteps and left this sea."

"At first, our days were peaceful, but then, an underwater volcano erupted. The king returned to the sea and used up most of his divine power to freeze the seafloor in order to save us."

"He thought he could protect us, so he left quickly. But later..."

"Humans have destroyed the marine ecological environment, causing global warming and melting glaciers. In order to conduct experiments, humans have discharged batches of nuclear contaminated water into the ocean. Coupled with various man-made garbage, the marine ecological environment has been rapidly destroyed, and our bodies have undergone genetic mutations."

"Without our king, we can only ask humans for help. But when humans saw the mermaids coming ashore for the first time, they went completely crazy..."

"They began to catch a large number of seabed creatures for experiments, and the seabed creatures became more and more bizarre, with the emergence of many new species disrupting the ecological order of the seabed."

"The old and new species began to kill each other. Humans dumped failed experimental subjects directly into the ocean. As the king's subjects, the mermaids fought against those insane experimental subjects for hundreds of years in order to protect other sea creatures."

"Later, the seabed completely turned into hell. Various piranhas appeared, and all the creatures on the seabed were devoured by these brutal species."

Qiao Xi asked in confusion: "Can't you escape? The seabed is much larger than the land, you should be able to escape, right?"

The statue looked at her deeply and said, "Yes, you can. But there is a traitor among the creatures in the sea. The octopus traitor who was executed by the king was revived by humans using modern genes, and was genetically modified into a mermaid species. It dived into the seabed and stole the king's second heart, the Heart of the Ocean. Under the call of the Heart of the Ocean, no species in the seabed can resist being hunted by humans."

"We spent a lot of effort to steal the Heart of the Ocean back. In order to retaliate against humans, we also destroyed two ships, a sightseeing cruise ship and a test ship."

"We also trapped the traitor at the bottom of the sea, imprisoned with the Heart of the Ocean."

When Qiao Xi heard this, a hint of understanding flashed across her eyes. The tentacle monster she killed next to the Heart of the Ocean was indeed the octopus she had killed in the novice copy.

So this copy is the novice copy she entered before!

A new copy timeline has been continued.

This is really too weird...

The statue looked at her and said in a gloomy voice: "Do you know how much effort it took us to get the Heart of the Ocean back to the bottom of the sea?"

"Once the Heart of the Ocean returns to the test ship and is used by humans to gain power, no creature on the seafloor will be able to resist humans, and we will eventually perish."

"Human, do you still want to take the Heart of the Ocean with you?"

Qiao Xi looked at the statue, his eyes flickered: "Yes."

The statue fell silent.

Qiao Xi could feel the air around her pressing towards her, like a solid wall, pressing her hard towards the middle.

The idol was angry.

Qiao Xi said, “Is this God’s judgment?”

The statue said, "No, God's judgment is that if you take the Heart of the Ocean away, you will be responsible for the creatures on the seabed. Qiao Xi, if any creature on the seabed loses its life because of your actions, the entire ocean will become your enemy and hunt you down to the ends of the earth until you die."

"Even so, do you still want to take the Heart of the Ocean away?"

Qiao Xi nodded: "Don't worry, I will be responsible for the creatures on the seabed. I also promise you that as long as you let me take the Heart of the Ocean away today, one day, I will return you a complete king."

The statue stared at her in silence for a long time.

Josh saw the scene around him change.

She returned to the bottom of the sea, her teammates still beside her. Everyone closed their eyes and sat quietly on the ground. They looked like they had entered a meditative state, with calm and peaceful expressions.

Just as Josh was about to speak, everything went dark again.

When she opened her eyes again, the scene in front of her had changed drastically.

The voice of the statue sounded again, but it was different from the previous statue's voice.

"Don't make a decision yet. I want to show you something."

Josh nodded, his body relaxing.

The surrounding scene gradually brightened.

This is a place similar to a laboratory. The laboratory is huge, with tanks of transparent blue-green liquid like fish tanks, which contain sea creatures.

Some are pointed-mouth fish with arms and legs all over their bodies, some are seahorses with antennas on their heads, and there are all kinds of strange monsters that look like they were pieced together.

Qiao Xi looked forward, and the scenery approached her direction with a sense of bliss.

Only then did she see the thing clearly. It was something similar to an operating table, surrounded by fully armed humans in white coats.

A female mermaid was lying on the operating table with a terrified expression on her face. She had a collar around her neck and a sharp metal object on the inside of the collar that pierced into her throat to prevent her from making any sound.

The doctor in a white coat next to him was preparing something.

Qiao Xi's eyes sank slightly, and he had a bad feeling in his heart.

The doctor held two steel plates, similar to a defibrillator. The moment the defibrillator touched the mermaid's abdomen, the mermaid struggled violently.

Josh's abdomen suddenly began to hurt severely. This pain seemed to come from inside the body, spreading from the abdomen to the whole body, even to the top of the head.

She felt as if her body was being torn apart.

Josh groaned, squatted down subconsciously, and covered his abdomen.

But there was nothing on the abdomen except smooth skin.

There were no wounds, no signs of heat, and no discomfort.

The pain in her body gradually faded away, and a layer of fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead.

The scene in front of her eyes changed. A vertical glass column appeared in front of her. There were two fish in the glass column. Judging from their body shapes, they looked more like a pair of mother and baby fish, one big and one small.

Before Josh was ready, he felt a surge of electricity running through his body from the outside to the inside.

As my body was numbed by the electricity, a sharp pain suddenly rose in my body.
