She took the shoes from the aunt and said calmly, "Thank you."
The shoes in her hand seemed to be of good quality and had neat stitching. Han Wanying first compared the size of the shoes on Luo Yue's feet.
The aunt was observant and saw that Han Wanying seemed quite satisfied, so she quickly said, "You can let the child try on the shoes. These are new shoes, we just made them."
Han Wanying nodded. She knew that she had to try on the shoes herself to know whether they were of good quality. She squatted down, put Luo Yue on one of her legs, and took off the little girl's shoes. She found that the child went out without socks, and the shoes on her feet were very hard.
The little feet were mostly bruised, and the heels were rubbed raw. Han Wanying paused as she looked at the hand holding the shoes and said to the little girl, "Why didn't you tell your sister? Doesn't it hurt to walk on your feet?"
Luo Yue nervously curled up her feet, her hands twisted together in confusion, "It doesn't hurt much, actually. Sister has done a lot for me, I don't want to trouble her anymore."
Han Wanying looked at the little girl's red eyes and sighed softly. It was the first time she met such a little girl. She had met many children over the years, but Luo Yue and Luo Xing were the ones she loved the most.
Although Duan Fanglin was in a similar situation as them before, at least he still had his parents who cared about him. But these two children had no family, no one cared about them, and their situation was not good. But they were able to survive until now. Han Wanying really felt that they were two remarkable children.
The aunt was also shocked when she saw Luo Yue's feet. The little girl seemed to be well dressed, so how could her feet be in such a state? She felt heartbroken just looking at it.
Seeing Han Wanying's expression, she quickly said, "My mother-in-law just happened to make a few pairs of socks for my sons these past two days. They've never been worn. If you don't mind, I'll bring them to you."
Then, fearing that Han Wanying would overthink things, he continued, "Don't worry, I won't charge you for these socks."
Han Wanying looked up at the aunt, picked up Luo Yue, and said to the person in front of her, "Then I'll trouble you, Auntie. I think your shoes are all good, but I don't know if you can make shoes with velvet inside."
The aunt nodded quickly, "It can be done, it can definitely be done."
Han Wanying: "Then please help me make four pairs of size 45 fleece-lined shoes and three pairs of size 45 plain shoes, and two pairs of women's size 37 plain shoes. I will take the four pairs you brought. I will go back and make them for you after I measure the sizes."
Hearing Han Wanying's words, the aunt almost didn't react. She paused for a moment and then quickly said, "Okay, okay. I'll write it down later. I'm afraid I'll forget the code when I get back."
Then I watched the aunt take out a notebook and pen from her pocket and start writing it down.
Han Wanying held Luo Yue in her arms and waited for her aunt in front of her to slowly write it down.
After she finished writing, he asked the aunt, "Let's make the one without velvet first. How many days will it take to make it?"
The aunt thought for a moment and said, "If you need it urgently, it will be made for you in about four days. Don't worry, my family all work in the textile factory, and we are all very skilled in this craft. With my mother-in-law, my sister-in-law, and I, we may be able to finish it in less than four days."
Han Wanying calculated the time in her mind; four days seemed to be about right. She would stay in the imperial capital for another week at most. Once things were done, she would probably have to rush back immediately. The things she had done in the imperial capital were a bit big, and she was a little worried about her elders in Heilongjiang Province.
So I said to the aunt, "Okay, can I wait for you here at 2pm four days from now?"
The aunt nodded and said tentatively, "But young comrade, you want quite a lot of shoes, so I might have to collect a deposit from you."
Han Wanying understood and said, "Sure. Please calculate how much these shoes cost first."
The aunt wrote in the notebook, "The shoes you have now are 2 yuan a pair, and four pairs are 8 yuan. Don't worry, we use high-quality materials, and they will last a long time."
"As for these pairs you ordered, can you give me five dollars first?"
Han Wanying nodded, hugged Luo Yue with one hand, and then took out a wad of money from her pocket with the other hand. This was the change from buying clothes. She handed the money to Luo Yue and said softly, "You count out 15 yuan for me."
The lady quickly said, "13 yuan is enough, no need for 15 yuan."
Han Wanying took the money that Luo Yue had counted out, handed it to the aunt, and said, "The remaining two dollars are for socks. Please pack the socks for us as well."
Who would refuse money that comes right to their doorstep? Although he said to Han Wanying, "I don't feel comfortable doing this. I told you it's a gift, and you're still paying for it," he took the money with his hand and quickly put it into his arms.
Then he smiled and said to Han Wanying, "Then you wait here. I'll go get you some socks from our house. Don't worry, I'll be quick."
But what this person said was true, and she was indeed very quick. The two of them came back in a short while, with the things wrapped up neatly.
Han Wanying looked at her backpack and asked, "Auntie, do you need anything later?"
The aunt shook her head and said, "It's okay. I'll go back and make shoes for you later."
