Chapter 5: It turns out that Zhi Beiyou is a young man without any school or sect. …

It's not a dog, it's just someone imitating the barking of a dog.

Li Zhou didn't know what was so scary about this, so he went out with his sword in hand.

There was nothing outside the door.

There was a creaking sound behind me.

Li Zhou suddenly turned around and saw a young child hugging an old woman, their teeth chattering.

Look how scared they are, they're all paranoid.

Li Zhou shook his head with pity.

The village is so small, where can the snake demon hide?

She pushed open the gate and looked back at the two people who were unable to walk: "Lead the way!"

"What's your name, kid?"

The pace of the young child and the old lady was so slow that Li Zhou had to find a way to divert their attention.

"My name is Zhenzhen." The child looked at the old lady and said timidly.

"What about you?" Li Zhou thought that since his aunt got married early, it didn't matter that she didn't know the younger generations, so he asked the old lady's name with confidence.

Although the old lady was an adult, she was led by a young child. She blinked and stammered.

Li Zhou was suspicious: "You don't know your name?"

The child's eyelids twitched, and he smiled sweetly: "Grandma is getting old and confused. She even forgot her last name is Chen and her nickname is Ah Xiu?"

The old lady quickly responded: "When you mentioned it, I remembered that my name is Chen Axiu."

Li Zhou looked at them and said, "I have only seen children forgetting the names of elderly people before. This is the first time I see an elderly person not remembering his own name, but the child remembers it clearly."

When these words were spoken, the grandfather and grandson felt as if they had lost their parents. They thought that she had seen through all their affairs and were waiting for her to make trouble.

Unexpectedly, after she finished speaking, she didn't say anything else. She looked around with great interest and continued to look for the snake demon.

The grandparents and grandchildren finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Li Zhou asked all kinds of questions not for gossip, so he naturally wouldn't get to the bottom of things.

She followed the two men, whose legs and feet had regained their mobility, and moved around the village.

The doors of every household were closed, but Li Zhou could feel that when she walked over, there were eyes observing them through the crack of the door.

After walking through half of the village, it was almost dark, but there was still no sign of the snake demon. Zhenzhen and Old Lady Chen refused to look for it any further.

Li Zhou had no choice but to follow them home.

On the way home, she poked the bushes unwillingly a few times and chopped down a few dead trees, hoping that her luck would explode and reveal the snake demon's hiding place.

Unexpectedly, nothing was found except that the sword was made black.

"Is there any water?" she asked Old Lady Chen depressedly, wanting to wipe the sword.

"Yes." Old Mrs. Chen seemed to be really tired and moved her steps strangely.

Zhenzhen was squatting in the corner, carefully picking vegetables, probably preparing to cook dinner.

Li Zhou wiped the dirt off the sword with his sleeve and saw three traditional Chinese characters under the hilt:

Travel to the North

It turns out this sword has a name.

This name is nice and fits her cool personality.

Li Zhou thought happily.

"My lord, the water is coming."

Old Mrs. Chen's voice rang in her ears. Li Zhou raised her head and found that the other party had walked in front of her at some point.

And she didn't even notice it.

Li Zhou rationally thought that she should be afraid, but somehow her heart was not moved at all. She took the water, picked up the rag beside her, and wiped off the remaining stains on Zhi Beiyou.

Old Mrs. Chen just stood quietly beside them.

She looked at Li Zhou's focused profile. His old body cast a long shadow on the ground. The wind blew through the hall, distorting her shadow.

She stuck out her forked tongue, licked her lips, and looked up respectfully at the Bodhisattva on the wall. The Bodhisattva lowered his eyebrows, with a smile on his lips. Where Li Zhou couldn't see, he opened and closed his mouth, and it was unknown what he said.

"I'm going to make dinner." Old Mrs. Chen said, hunched over, as she slid out of the house.

Zhenzhen picked up the huge basket with her tiny hands and followed her, skipping and jumping: "Grandma, let me help you."

After wiping the sword, Li Zhou put down the rag, looked up at their backs, and then looked at the kind-hearted Bodhisattva hanging high on the wall.

She waved her hand and gestured twice to the Bodhisattva.

Isn’t this unlucky?

She turned her back and waved towards the door.

The Bodhisattva in the painting smiled from ear to ear and stared greedily at Li Zhou's back.

Under the lotus pedestal, the legs of many missing children once again transformed into snake tails, eager to climb out.

The next moment, the Bodhisattva held down her boys.

Haha, you want to use sting operation again.

The Bodhisattva narrowed his eyes and returned to his neutral attitude.

It's not difficult to deal with this guy, just don't be impatient.

She stuck out her forked tongue, licked her lower lip, and retracted it in time before Li Zhou turned around.

Li Zhou looked at the three dishes and one soup in front of her with embarrassment. This was free food and accommodation, and she definitely couldn't let the grandparents and grandchildren suffer.

"Don't worry, I will definitely get rid of the snake demon for you."

Old Lady Chen and Zhenzhen's movements of picking up food froze. Old Lady Chen slowly raised her head, looking up at Li Zhou. Maybe it was because of the light, but her pupils seemed to have shrunk a lot, becoming like a vertical crack.

Li Zhou was serving soup when he noticed her gaze. When he looked back, she had lowered her head again.

"Auntie, where did you learn these skills?" Zhenzhen's childish voice sounded, asking curiously.

But his head was still buried in the bowl, and no expression could be seen on his face.

The child probably has never been to school, has no manners, and doesn’t know to look at the person he is talking to.

Li Zhou didn't care and patted Zhi Beiyou who was beside him: "He is self-taught."

"Wow, my aunt is really amazing."

It turns out that he is just a young man with no school or sect.

Old Mrs. Chen couldn't help but laugh twice.

Li Zhou glanced at her and thought, there's no need to admire her so much.

The three of them didn't say anything after that. They finished their meal quietly. Old Lady Chen collected the dishes and chopsticks. Li Zhou walked around the yard and said, "You guys should go to bed early. I'll be on guard tonight."

Didn't they say there would be some strange noises? She couldn't wait.

Old Mrs. Chen and Zhenzhen lowered their heads, nodded, turned around and went back to their room.

Li Zhou was just about to practice sword for a while when she suddenly smelled a fishy odor. She followed the smell to the kitchen and saw a basin of black water with a layer of gray scales floating on the water.

Hey, did you have fish tonight?

“Hehehe.”

Before Li Zhou could recall, a soft laugh rang in her ears.

Then, someone blew into her ear.

"I heard you were looking for me?"

The voice was so gentle and tender that it could make one's bones soften. A cold and slippery touch slid across Li Zhou's face.

Li Zhou turned his head suddenly, and his impatient look made the floating mist stop for a few breaths.

"Snake demon, why don't you show your true form?"

Li Zhou said with deep disappointment and dissatisfaction when he found that there was only thick fog behind him which had appeared at some unknown time, and not the huge snake head as he had imagined.
