Xu Chen was so busy training martial artists that he missed his final exams. He was constantly on the go, leaving early and returning late, and even felt that he was much busier than the team members who were being trained.
After Zhou Yuting took the Youth Preservation Pill, her appearance underwent a tremendous change. Her skin became fair, and her figure began to change from flat to curvaceous. It's unclear whether the alchemist who developed this Youth Preservation Pill liked long hair, but both Wang Li and Zhou Yuting's hair became exceptionally long after taking it.
"Alright, that concludes my lesson for today. Now, those whose names are called, come up to receive your awards. This is a list I compiled based on my observations over this period. If any of you disagree with someone receiving an award, you can beat them up or take it away."
After the prizes were distributed, the team members would conduct their own training. Xu Chen packed his luggage and was about to go home when Zhou Yuting ran up and stopped him.
"Colonel, are you leaving?"
"You seem to be looking forward to my departure? Hmm?"
"No, no, I wanted to ask for your contact information." Zhou Yuting was the quintessential well-bred young lady from a prominent family, the kind often depicted in TV dramas and novels, especially after her beauty had returned. Her shy, blushing appearance stunned the training team members nearby.
"You're making it easy for me to misunderstand, you know?"
"No, it's not a misunderstanding, ma'am..."
"Call me Xu Chen. I'm no longer your instructor."
"Xu...Xu Chen, please give me your contact information!" Zhou Yuting suddenly shouted, startling Xu Chen.
"Focus on your cultivation and don't let your mind wander." Xu Chen patted Zhou Yuting on the shoulder and went to Tang Tiancheng's office.
"It's finally over, old man Tang, you have to reward me properly!"
Tang Tiancheng smiled and said, "The title of senior colonel is already an excessive reward. Don't be ungrateful, kid."
"Old Tang, if I'm not mistaken, this expansion of the team was your decision, wasn't it?"
"You figured it out after all, haha."
"Aren't you afraid that the cultivation method will spread to the common people? In the capital, right under our noses, no one would dare to do this, but in the military region below, can you guarantee that it won't be leaked?" Xu Chen asked doubtfully.
"I can't guarantee it." Tang's expression gradually became serious. He had thought about this as well, but he was overwhelmed by another, bigger factor: the benefits of promoting this method far outweighed the drawbacks.
"Alright, I'm off now, old man Tang."
Back home, Xu Chen called out to Wang Li several times, but received no response. He activated his spiritual sense and discovered that Wang Li was still at school, her exams unfinished. He opened the door, intending to bring the luggage he'd brought from home to the base into the bedroom, when a figure on the sofa caught his attention.
"Hello, my name is Shui Xin." The figure slowly stood up and greeted Xu Chen. He had dark skin, a slender build, and handsome features, but an unsightly scar ran from his right eye to his left shoulder, ruining his appearance. Xu Chen silently put down his luggage, sat on the sofa, and invited him to sit down as well.
"Hello, fellow Daoist." Xu Chen lit a cigarette and greeted him first.
"Hello, I've come here to retrieve my master's belongings." The man got straight to the point, hoping Xu Chen would return something. Xu Chen probed the man's strength; although his divine sense was instantly thwarted, the man's oppressive aura wasn't as strong as Qin Ziyue's, suggesting he was likely at the Nascent Soul stage.
"May I ask, who is your master?" Xu Chen had just asked when Qin Ziyue arrived at the small villa. She flew in directly from the second-floor balcony and subdued the man almost instantly.
"Senior, senior, I meant no harm, senior!" the man exclaimed loudly, but Qin Ziyue remained unmoved. She looked at Xu Chen and asked, "Junior, what does this person want with you?"
“I might have some of his master’s belongings, but I don’t know him.” Xu Chen was puzzled.
Qin Ziyue released the man and sat down with Xu Chen, looking at him and asking, "Who is your master?"
The dark-faced man rubbed his shoulders and then said very politely, "My master is Daoist Muxin. A thousand years ago, my master and we encountered a powerful enemy and fought a bitter battle in a nearby star field. She ultimately defeated her opponent at the great cost of burning her lifespan. To prevent us from being hunted down, she sealed us away. She disappeared alone. Some time ago, my seal was just broken, and after some deduction, I found this fellow Daoist."
What is her strength?
"Early stage of fusion".
Xu Chen took out the sword left behind by that senior from his storage bag. "I can't believe you based on just your word. If the sword spirit is familiar with you, I'll return the sword to you."
"good!"
As soon as the sword left the storage bag, the sword spirit transformed into the appearance of a little girl, looking at Xu Chen speechlessly, "Hey kid, I was sleeping soundly, why did you wake me up?"
"Look, this might be someone you know from the past!"
The sword spirit turned its head, looked at the dark face, and after a long while exclaimed, "Shui Xin!"
Having confirmed Shui Xin's identity, Xu Chen returned the sword to her.
"We apologize, we also stumbled into the senior's cave by mistake and obtained this sword after communicating with her. This is the small world teleportation array mechanism that she gave me."
Shui Xin took back the sword and played with the copper coin Xu Chen handed her. "It really is my master's handiwork. Seeing this makes me miss her a little. She was a strong-willed person all her life, determined to break through the immortal gate, searching everywhere for traces of immortality, and cultivating like crazy. To meet her ideals, we disciples were also tormented quite a bit. We all hated her. That time when the enemy attacked, she could have abandoned us and fled for her life, but... but she still... stood in front of us without hesitation... I..." As Shui Xin spoke, tears streamed down her face.
