Chapter 161 Medical Disputes

Grandpa's illness gradually improved, and the doctor was not sure what was going on. However, since the old man's various physical indicators had improved significantly, it was obviously not appropriate for him to stay in the intensive care unit. After discussing with Wang Yuanchao, he was transferred to a regular single room.

The old man regained some energy and, seeing his son and daughter-in-law busy at work, quickly raised his voice and said, "Yuanchao, Gongyan, don't delay your work. I have Lili and Xuchen here, that's enough."

"Can they manage?" Gong Yan asked with some concern.

"Mom, you two go first. Grandpa is much better, what are you worried about?" Wang Li didn't want her parents to stay in the hospital either. After all, the doctor had already explained Grandpa's condition, and all that was left was to wait for him to be discharged.

Wang Yuanchao and Gong Yan exchanged a glance. "Dad, I'm leaving. Lili, take good care of Grandpa."

Wang Li nodded, and Wang Yuanchao led Gong Yan out of the room, patting Xu Chen on the shoulder before leaving. Everything was understood without words.

Xu Chen looked at the old man who was sizing him up, then took a stool and sat down by the hospital bed. Before he could speak, the old man said, "Thank you, Chenchen. Is it appropriate for me to call you that?"

“That’s appropriate, sir. But are you thanking me? Why?”

"I feel that the reason I got better is because of you and Lili. After all, as soon as you came back, the cancer that even the doctors couldn't cure suddenly disappeared."

“Grandpa, you can’t say that.” Xu Chen made a shushing gesture, and the old man understood what Xu Chen meant.

"Lili, how are your studies? Are you doing well in Beijing? Look at you, you've lost weight."

"Grandpa, it's good to be thinner, it's healthier. After you get better, I'll go for a run with you every morning to help you lose weight."

"Yes, health. I never thought I would get any disease before, but now I realize how important health is." The old man fell into deep thought. Wang Li checked the time, took out the food she had prepared, and set up the small table on the bed.

"Grandpa, these were all made by Chenchen. See if they suit your taste."

Looking at the dishes, the old woman held Xu Chen's hand and sighed, "You've suffered. You live together, so you must be the one cooking. My granddaughter is as lazy as a pig, so please bear with her."

"Great minds think alike, Grandpa. I also think Lili is a little lazybones." As soon as she finished speaking, Wang Li slapped Xu Chen's shoulder. Xu Chen smiled and continued, "Grandpa, try it first. If the taste isn't right, I'll try to adjust it tomorrow." This was Xu Chen's first time cooking for the elderly, and he didn't know if the old man would like it.

"What's the difference between suitable and unsuitable? This old man isn't picky about food."

After serving the old man his meal and putting him to bed, Xu Chen took Wang Li downstairs at the hospital.

"Lili, the old man seems to be getting better and better."

"Let him rest for a few more days and then be discharged. What do you think?"

"That's true, we should stay in the hospital as little as possible."

As the two were chatting, a middle-aged man with a gloomy face but who seemed fine walked in through the hospital entrance. Xu Chen didn't pay much attention; after all, no one is happy in a hospital. However, what happened next shocked everyone present. The man pulled out a steel knife from his pocket, rushed forward, and held it directly to someone's neck.

"Dr. Wang, what a coincidence! I just entered the hospital and you're leaving work when we bumped into each other," the man said to the hostage doctor with a gloomy face. The doctor's legs trembled, and he saw stars. He mustered his courage and began to negotiate with him, and the scene descended into chaos.

Five minutes later, the police arrived at the scene. After all, it was a hospital, and they would be furious if they didn't come quickly. As soon as Xu Chen arrived, he looked at Li Yue, who was nervously watching the robbers and doctors, standing at a distance talking on a walkie-talkie.

Reporters, members of the public, negotiation experts, and hospital security guards all gathered downstairs at the hospital. Seeing this scene, Wang Li tugged at Xu Chen's sleeve.

"Chenchen, what should we do?"

"Do you want to be a heroine?" Xu Chen ruffled Wang Li's hair and asked seriously.

"A heroine?" Wang Li didn't understand Xu Chen's meaning. "Chenchen, do you mean I can save that doctor?"

"BINGO, correct answer. This scenario is perfect for the gravity technique I taught you. Try it and use the gravity technique to take the knife from his hand," Xu Chen transmitted his voice. No matter how good the techniques and spells are, they are only interesting in actual combat.

"I'll give it a try." Wang Li's expression became excited. She was a cultivator after all. She concentrated her mind, and a large hand made of spiritual energy slowly appeared from her right hand, heading towards the knife in the man's hand who had kidnapped the doctor.

The robber was busy threatening the doctor and didn't notice Wang Li and Xu Chen at all. Even if he had noticed them, he probably wouldn't have been able to do anything to Xu Chen and Wang Li.

"Dr. Wang, you who raped my daughter, did you ever think you would end up like this?"

"What... what are you saying? I don't understand. Please let me go, please!" Upon hearing the man's words, the expressions of the onlookers changed, and a murmur of discussion arose among the crowd.

Li Yue was contacting the sniper, and the negotiation expert was also negotiating with the man. When Wang Li heard the man's words, her spiritual power hand paused and stopped in mid-air.

"What's wrong, Lili?" Xu Chen asked softly.

"He raped his daughter, Chenchen, should we still save him?" Wang Li was furious when she heard this, so she stopped what she was doing.

"It's your decision. Whatever you choose to do, I will support you."

Wang Li fell into deep thought. If she saved this scoundrel, would he harm more women in the future? If she didn't save him and waited for the police to intervene, would the man be shot on the spot? She had seen many videos online of police officers and robbers breaking down in negotiations and resorting to shooting in desperation.

Have you thought it through?

"I've made up my mind." Wang Li slapped the knife out of the man's hand and onto the ground. The police rushed in and apprehended the robber.

"Lili, what are you thinking about?" Xu Chen asked, looking at Wang Li who was standing there in a daze.

"Xu Chen, I feel like I did the right thing, but I also feel like I made a mistake," Wang Li said softly, hugging Xu Chen.

Xu Chen looked around and, finding few people, kissed Wang Li.

"Ugh, there are so many people."

“Lili, you did nothing wrong. As for whether that doctor committed such a crime, I think we can ask Uncle for help.”

Wang Li suddenly realized that she had forgotten her father, who was the top official in the district. She immediately took out her phone and called Wang Yuanchao.

"Chenchen, we don't seem to know this doctor's name," Wang Li said helplessly before dialing the number.

"Wu Xiangfeng".

"Chenchen, do you know him?"

"It seems he didn't take off his name tag; I glanced at it."

Wang Li knew that it was the function of divine sense, but little did she know that Xu Chen had only found out everything about this person through Xiao Bai.
