"Chenchen, who are you talking to?" After washing up, Wang Li sat down next to Xu Chen and asked him.
Xu Chen held a small bottle, stared blankly at the two drops of golden liquid inside, and glanced in the direction where Long Hua was.
"The senior I mentioned to you before."
"What's in here?" Wang Li took the small bottle, glanced at the two drops of liquid, and asked curiously. Xu Chen thought for a moment and then gave his guess, "It's dragon blood."
"A dragon?!" Wang Li exclaimed softly, then solemnly placed the bottle in Xu Chen's hands, clasped her hands together, and began to pray. Xu Chen was a little confused. He waited quietly for Wang Li to finish the ritual, then asked curiously, "Lili, what were you doing just now? Praying?"
"The dragon is the totem of our Chinese nation, and is respected just like your sect's ancestor."
Xu Chen patted Wang Li's head and said quietly, "I don't know if that's true, it's just my guess."
The two went into the thatched hut to watch TV shows. Fortunately, the hut was not far from the mountain pass, so the signal was still somewhat available. Otherwise, Wang Li might not have been able to stay there.
"Lili, I might have to go home." Looking at the dragon blood, Xu Chen thought of his third grandfather.
"Home? Star City? Has the barrier disappeared?" Wang Li asked, puzzled.
"No, it's the Tianquan Sect. My purpose in coming out, besides cultivation, is for this little bottle." Xu Chen pointed to the dragon blood placed in the spirit stone. He didn't know how to preserve it, but he figured that placing it in spiritual energy wouldn't cause the dragon blood to lose its efficacy.
As soon as she finished speaking, Wang Li's expression shifted from joy to silence. She recalled the three years she and Xu Chen had spent here, helping him keep it a secret from her parents, building a thatched hut together, farming, and eating at Wang Hui's house. Although life wasn't as good as before, it was incredibly warm and cozy. She never imagined that this beautiful time would end so quickly. With Xu Chen gone, Wang Li thought it might be several years before he returned. After all, the Tianquan Star she imagined was very, very far away from Earth.
"Don't be so disappointed, Lili. It'll be at most six months. I'll be back in six months," Xu Chen said, stroking Wang Li's hair to comfort her.
"Half a year?" Wang Li was a little surprised. "Isn't your place not far from Earth? In my memory, Tianquan Star is almost at the other end of the universe." Xu Chen smiled and said, "Yes, it's very far, but I have Xiaobai."
As soon as Xu Chen mentioned Xiaobai, Wang Li understood what he meant. "Is it that spaceship?" Xu Chen nodded and continued, "Lili, after we return to Earth from Tianquan Star, I will come to marry you."
Wang Li looked at Xu Chen tenderly without saying a word. The two of them hugged each other, feeling each other's warmth.
"Why don't you come back to the sect with me?! It'll be a good opportunity to meet my master and mistress, and a few of my grandfathers." Xu Chen suddenly had a bright idea and excitedly put his hand on the girl's shoulder. He thought that bringing Wang Li back to the sect was a good idea. Wang Li was stunned and said a little nervously, "...Is this okay, Chenchen?"
"Why not?! Lili, what do you think?"
Wang Li was somewhat tempted; she longed for the outside world. However, leaving would mean not being able to go home for several months, unlike when she was studying at university. A mixture of longing and fear perfectly described Wang Li's current state of mind.
Xu Chen glanced at the conflicted Wang Li and said, "Lili, you can think about it first. We still need to go back to Xingcheng to see our parents."
Wang Li nodded, took off her shoes, jumped onto the bed, and tossed and turned in bed while hugging her plush toy. She didn't even watch any Korean dramas. Xu Chen quickly turned off his phone when he saw this, otherwise he would have to comfort her and hand her tissues if this little crybaby wanted to watch dramas again.
The next morning, the two arrived at Wang Hui's house. Wang Hui was preparing breakfast for Xiao Rou'er. When she saw the two arrive, she quickly cooked two extra bundles of noodles. Wang Li saw this and hurriedly went to help.
Breakfast was ready, and the group ate as usual. Wang Li nudged Xu Chen's foot, and Xu Chen, as if on cue, nodded in response.
"Sister Hui, what about the job in Zhengcheng that I told you about before? What's your thought about it?"
Wang Hui was stunned. "I..." she hesitated, then stared blankly at the bowl in her hand, seemingly lost in thought. She hadn't wanted to leave. Although this wasn't her hometown, her deceased husband was here. Coincidentally, Xu Chen and Wang Li were also preparing to leave. An incident that had happened to Wang Hui a few days ago had also made her consider leaving.
Seeing that her mother was not speaking, Xiao Rou quickly nudged Wang Hui.
"Mom, what's wrong?"
Wang Hui patted the little girl's head and said gently, "Mommy is fine, I'm just discussing it with my older brother and sister."
"Sister Hui, how are you?" Xu Chen tried to persuade Wang Hui again. It wasn't that they wanted to bother Wang Hui, but after three years of getting along, they wanted to help her if they could.
After thinking for a long time, Wang Hui nodded and solemnly replied to Xu Chen, "Okay!"
Wang Li breathed a sigh of relief. The mother and daughter were much better off living in Zhengcheng than they were in now. After settling things with the mother and daughter, Xu Chen and his companion set off on their way back to Xingcheng.
In Xingcheng, at Xu Chen's home, Xu Nan, who had just returned home from get off work, opened the door and saw her long-lost younger brother holding her. Her eyes reddened, and she threw down her backpack and rushed over to hug Xu Chen.
"Waaaaah, little brother, where have you been all these years?" Xu Nan, her face streaked with tears, punched Xu Chen's shoulder hard, seemingly venting her frustration.
"I'm back now, aren't I?" Xu Chen smiled and patted his sister's back to comfort her.
"You also said that after graduation you've been traveling all the time and never thought about coming back more often." Xu Nan choked up, and after a while she wiped away her tears and asked curiously, "Little brother, where did you go for the last three years?"
Didn't your parents tell you?
"They're keeping their mouths shut, as if you've disappeared again. Tell me, tell me, where have you been all this time?" Xu Nan picked up the backpack she had just thrown down and put it on the sofa. She grabbed Xu Chen's hand and shook it hard, wanting to get to the bottom of it.
Xu Chen feigned helplessness, "Alright, I'll talk to you, please stop shaking me, my bones are about to fall apart." Xu Nan obediently put down Xu Chen's hand, wanting to hear his story over the past few years. Wang Rong, who came in from outside, froze in place.
"Mom, I'm home."
Hearing "Mom" from that address, Wang Rong was overwhelmed with emotion, even though she knew her son was away on business and couldn't contact home. Business... business?! Why was her son back at this hour?
"Chen'er, you... why are you back now?" Wang Rong asked, her face showing confusion and even worry.
