Chapter 35 Visiting a Museum

"Chenchen, where are we going today?" Wang Li lay on the sofa, looking tired, as if she had just woken up. Xu Chen glanced helplessly at Wang Li, who had stayed up all night again. "Lili, your night owl nature has really come out since the college entrance exam." Wang Li smiled sheepishly. Seeing Xu Chen pick up a cold towel and walk towards her, Wang Li leaned in, and Xu Chen gently wiped her face. Then he slowly said, "Today we'll go to the Beijing Museum and see some artifacts from five thousand years of Chinese history." Wang Li nodded. After breakfast, the two left the hotel. As Xu Chen walked along the street, he noticed that the men who had followed him yesterday were nowhere to be seen. He thought Tang Tiancheng was a man of his word. The two reached the street corner... Just then, a stranger blocked Xu Chen's path. The man looked shrewd and capable, and said to Xu Chen, "Young man Xu Chen, my master wants to thank you for helping him retrieve his wallet yesterday. He's over there." Xu Chen patted Wang Li's hand. "I'll go over there and be right back. Lili, wait for me a moment." Wang Li nodded, and Xu Chen followed the strong man. As expected, he saw Tang Tiancheng. He smiled and said, "Haha, Old Tang, you're really in a hurry, waiting for me here so early in the morning." He then took out a cultivation manual that looked like an ancient book from his backpack. Tang Tiancheng took the manual, apologized to Xu Chen, and the two walked away until they disappeared from sight. Xu Chen turned around and walked towards Wang Li.

"Wow, this place is huge, Chenchen!" Wang Li exclaimed, looking around the museum. Xu Chen, holding Wang Li's hand, said, "Today we'll see all the treasures of China's five thousand years of civilization." The two walked further into the museum. "Chenchen, look! There's a suit of armor lying here, it looks like it's made of gold." Wang Li pulled Xu Chen towards the armor. Xu Chen glanced at the description. The two then took many photos of the artifacts. Suddenly, Xu Chen spotted a huge ding (a type of ancient Chinese bronze vessel). He stood before it for a long time. The bluish-gray body of the ding, along with the mysterious patterns, seemed to tell the world of its antiquity. "I've seen this ding in history books, it's very famous!" Wang Li exclaimed in surprise. Seeing Xu Chen standing in front of the ding, Wang Li's interest was also greatly piqued. She took out... The phone clicked away at the camera. "I need to send a few more back to Dad," Wang Li said. Seeing she'd finished taking pictures, Xu Chen took her hand and led her through the museum again. "Chenchen, what should I do? I feel like my phone's memory isn't enough for all the photos," Wang Li said, glancing around, wanting to take pictures in front of every artifact. Xu Chen smiled. "Silly girl, even if you take ten pictures of each artifact, your phone will have enough." Xu Chen knew she wanted to take many photos. The two had seen many famous artifacts together, even though many were models, it was enough to deepen Xu Chen's understanding of Chinese civilization. Among them, Xu Chen also saw models of the Terracotta Army. Although made of clay, they still exuded a sense of the solemnity of an ancient army. After leaving the museum, it was already afternoon. Wang Li's stomach rumbled a few times, so Xu Chen took her to a restaurant.

"Chen'er, let's go back tomorrow." The two were having dinner in a restaurant when Wang Li inexplicably brought up this matter to Xu Chen. Xu Chen asked in confusion, "What's wrong, Lili? There are still so many sights we haven't seen." Wang Li shook her head and continued, "Chenchen, if we see all the sights in this time, we won't have anywhere to go when we come to Beijing to study." Hearing this, Xu Chen took out his phone and booked return tickets for tomorrow. After finishing their dinner, the two strolled around the streets to digest. "Lili, since we've decided to leave tomorrow, let's go shopping in Beijing tonight and buy some things for your parents to take back." Xu Chen discussed this with Wang Li, who agreed, "Okay, Chenchen, let's not delay, let's go to the mall now." Hearing about shopping, the woman's shopping instincts instantly kicked in. The two got into a taxi, asked the driver for recommendations on nearby famous malls, and headed straight for their destination.

Soon after, the two entered the mall. Wang Li looked around, seemingly wanting to buy many things. Suddenly, her gaze lingered on a shop window display featuring a mannequin in a snow-white dress. After glancing at the store's name, Wang Li reluctantly looked away. Xu Chen, witnessing this, pulled Wang Li straight into the Diao store. "Hello, sir and madam," a pretty sales assistant greeted the student-looking couple with a smile. Wang Li was still a little dazed. "Chenchen, you..." Xu Chen pointed to the snow-white dress in the window and said to the sales assistant, "Could you please get one in my girlfriend's size for her to try on?" Wang Li covered her mouth, her jaw nearly dropping in shock. She quickly tugged at Xu Chen's sleeve and whispered in his ear... "Chenchen, this dress is very expensive, didn't you see the price?" Xu Chen said softly, "Don't worry, I still have money in my card. Besides, who was it that couldn't resist this dress just now?" He looked at Wang Li teasingly. Wang Li was a little embarrassed at this moment. Xu Chen continued, "This is my apology gift for being with you for so long, but only giving you a bracelet." Wang Li hugged Xu Chen, looking quite moved. At this moment, the sales assistant brought the dress, and Wang Li took it into the fitting room. After a while, she came out. Xu Chen clapped his hands and said seriously, "My wife is beautiful." At this moment, the sales assistant also thought that Wang Li looked good in the dress. After a while, Wang Li carried the dress she had changed out of, and she and Xu Chen, who had paid the bill, walked out of the store together.

"Chenchen, you're so good to me, I feel a little ashamed," Wang Li said shyly, her face flushed. Xu Chen patted her hand, "Lili, we don't need to be so polite between us." Wang Li quickly said to Xu Chen with a serious face, "Chenchen, don't buy me such expensive gifts anymore. We're just ordinary people, these brands aren't suitable for us." Xu Chen nodded, and the two bought things for their families at the mall. Xu Chen also bought extra baby clothes for their soon-to-be-born baby. Afterwards, they returned to the hotel together.

"Remember to go to bed early tonight, don't stay up late again, you little night owl." Xu Chen helped Wang Li carry her things to her room, playfully flicked her nose, and earnestly reminded her. Wang Li nodded, "Chenchen, see you tomorrow morning, goodnight." A little while later, seeing that Xu Chen didn't seem to be leaving again, Wang Li asked suspiciously, "Chenchen, what's wrong?" Xu Chen suddenly hugged Wang Li and kissed her lips. Wang Li instinctively struggled for a moment, then became completely absorbed in the moment. After a long while, they separated. Wang Li's body temperature was high, her face flushed, and she feigned anger, saying, "Chenchen, when I confessed to you, I thought you were a gentleman. Now it seems I was wrong, you're just a pervert." Xu Chen laughed, "Regretful? Little Lili? Even if you regret it, you can't escape." Wang Li quickly pushed Xu Chen out of the room, and as she closed the door, they said goodnight to each other.
