Chapter 67 Herb Gathering

At home, Wang Li gazed at Xu Chen with tender affection, patiently listening to him recount his past: from his birth, to Tianquan Star, to the Tianquan Sect, to coming to Earth, to his cultivation level, to being mistaken for Xu Nan's younger brother and ending up living in the Xu family by chance, to helping Wang Rong get pregnant, and after learning that he had used puppetry to deal with the thugs harassing his sister, Wang Li smiled gently. She stared at Xu Chen and teased, "So, I'm sitting next to an alien?" Xu Chen nodded. "Yes, Lili, you won't mind, will you?" "How could I? Now it's my turn to worry about whether you'll mind me, after all, my Chenchen is a high and mighty immortal." Xu Chen smiled and continued, "How..." "Lili, after hearing all I've said, what are your thoughts?" Wang Li looked at Xu Chen, then at herself, and whispered, "Can I really become an immortal? Isn't it about qualifications and such?" Xu Chen gently took her hand and said, "Don't worry about that, I'll take care of it." Wang Li nodded and asked her second question, "Then... can my sister become an immortal?" After hearing Xu Chen talk about his terrifying three thousand years of lifespan, Wang Li thought of her family. Her parents would always leave her first, and Xu Chen had said that they were too old to cultivate immortality. Only her sister remained, and she was the person Wang Li worried about most. Xu Chen was stumped. "You mean Xiao Zhi'er?" Wang Li nodded. Xu Chen hadn't observed Xiao Zhi'er's constitution before, so he could only say, "I'll observe her carefully when I go home for National Day." Wang Li breathed a slight sigh of relief and said, "Okay, I have no more questions." Xu Chen said in surprise, "You mean... you've agreed to be with me?" Wang Li rolled her eyes at him, her pretty face slightly flushed, and said, "You've stolen my heart, what can I do if I don't agree?" Xu Chen was overjoyed and picked up Wang Li, showering her with kisses. But in that instant, a strange change occurred within his body.

Xu Chen put Wang Li down and quickly sat down to meditate and regulate his breathing. Wang Li, seeing Xu Chen's bodhisattva-like posture, curiously moved closer, feeling a warm breeze flowing around her. Xu Chen introspectively examined the spiritual energy in his meridians; it was surging yet restrained, flowing continuously. "Master said that becoming mortal means following one's true nature, entering the Dao through one's own perceptions, experiences, and insights—effortless and natural. It seems Lili's cultivation problem has been initially resolved, relieving a great weight from my heart. It seems I truly entered the Dao through love?" After a long while, he opened his eyes, looking at Wang Li who was curiously observing him. He gently stroked the hair beside Wang Li's ear and said softly. "Lili, you're truly my lucky star." Wang Li asked in confusion, "What's wrong? What happened?" Xu Chen grinned mischievously, "As my lucky star, I'm going to reward you." He then picked up Wang Li and carried her into the bedroom. After a while, Wang Li lay down beside Xu Chen, drenched in sweat, and whispered, "Chenchen, if you want it, don't worry about me." Xu Chen touched her forehead and channeled a wisp of spiritual energy into her, "Silly girl, I said I'd let you cultivate immortality, how could I bear to take away your primordial yin now?" Wang Li poked Xu Chen's chest with her finger and asked curiously, "Chenchen, what is primordial yin?" Xu Chen slowly explained it to her, and the two gradually fell asleep during their conversation.

A few days later, Xu Chen and Wang Li embarked on their return journey. As they locked the small villa, Wang Li playfully said to Xu Chen, "Chenchen, how about we just fly back? We can mail our luggage and gifts home?" Xu Chen stroked her pretty face. "That's exactly what I was thinking, but not home. We're going to find two things that are most important to you." The two left their luggage at a nearby courier station and mailed it back to Xingcheng. Wang Li looked at Xu Chen and asked, "Where are we going?" Xu Chen thought for a moment and whispered in Wang Li's ear, "It's getting late. Let's go eat first, and then I'll take you to a few places when it gets dark." Wang Li nodded, and the two headed to a nearby restaurant. On the way, Xu Chen saw a senior colleague on duty and greeted him warmly, "Senior, on duty?" Qin Ziyue With interest, Qin Ziyue glanced at Xu Chen and Wang Li beside him, nodded, and said, "I'm catching a suspect in a shooting. He fled to this area." Xu Chen was speechless; it seemed Beijing was indeed very large, as he hadn't even heard of a shooting. Wang Li, however, became interested. "I know, I know! There's a trending topic on Weibo about the guy who stole his policeman friend's gun and killed his boss, right? I heard his boss framed him, causing his family to break up, which led him to commit this heinous act." Qin Ziyue nodded. "Yes, that's him." Suddenly, her gaze sharpened, and she waved her hand, saying, "I can't talk to you anymore. My colleague used tear gas to force him out. I have to go arrest him." She then disappeared around the corner of the building. Xu Chen and Wang Li watched Qin Ziyue leave before entering the restaurant. An hour later, Xu Chen took her to the park, and they flew into the sky through the woods. Looking at the flashlight Xu Chen had given her, Wang Li asked, "Chenchen, where are we going?" Xu Chen carried her on his back and flew quickly, simultaneously using his spiritual energy to protect Wang Li, saying, "Kunlun Mountain, we're going to find spiritual herbs." Along the way, Wang Li chattered excitedly to Xu Chen about the night views of the cities they passed. Half an hour later, Xu Chen landed with Wang Li at the foot of Kunlun Mountain. Wang Li rubbed her eyes, as if she couldn't believe the sight before her. "Half an hour? Chenchen, we only took half an hour to get here?" Xu Chen nodded. To be honest, if it weren't for Wang Li's sake, he could have arrived here in seconds. "Alright, Lili, follow me." Xu Chen waved, and Wang Li turned on her flashlight. The two started from the foot of the mountain. When they encountered a cliff and steep slope, Xu Chen carried her up. The altitude increased and the temperature decreased, but Wang Li didn't feel the cold at all. Slowly, they approached the summit. Xu Chen saw a small platform, then put Wang Li down and drew an array around her. He told her, "Lili, I'm going to check the summit again. Wait for me here, I'll be right back." Wang Li nodded. Xu Chen flew to the summit and scanned the area with his divine sense again and again. "Found you!" On the edge of the snow-covered cliff, a snow lotus swayed in the wind. It was as white as jade and emitted bursts of spiritual energy. Xu Chen put it in his storage bag, then left the place to find Wang Li and fly back to the capital together.

"Have you forgotten that you're in the Mortal Transformation stage?" Xiaobai rarely spoke. Xu Chen glanced at the sleeping Wang Li and continued, "Sister Xiaobai, you even know these things?" Xiaobai smiled and said, "After all, I spent a long time in the Tianquan Sect." Xu Chen replied, "The so-called Mortal Transformation is nothing more than merging into the mortal world, deceiving heaven and earth, and finding one's own Dao within it, thereby breaking through to the Divine Transformation stage. I have already found my Dao." He looked tenderly at Wang Li, then sped up and flew back to the capital. Xiaobai remained silent.
