Chapter 338 Military Pay and Food

Hearing King Yan's question, Liu Neng stepped forward, smiled and bowed.

"I am Liu Neng, following the orders of my master, to deliver food and military pay to His Royal Highness the Prince of Yan."

He said, handing over a letter.

"Your Highness, Prince Yan, you will know after reading the contents of the letter."

The King of Yan took the letter without hesitation, opened it and took a look, his eyes flickered slightly, and then quickly closed the letter again.

He said calmly to one of his generals.

"Send someone to take the things back and put them away properly!"

The young general took the order and went with his men.

There are two people following behind King Yan.

A short, thin, dark-skinned, honest-looking man named Jiang Lan.

The other one was actually following Jiang Lan.

It was the princess's cousin, He Yuqing, who mocked Princess Xinrong in public that year.

He Yuqing no longer looked like the handsome young man he was back then. He had become darker and thinner. He didn't even dare to raise his head, but stood timidly at the back, wearing the clothes of a centurion.

When Jiang Lan saw the extra military pay and food for no reason, she stepped forward and inquired with a smile.

"Your Highness, Prince Yan, this much military pay and food is enough for our army to use for several months!"

King Yan nodded, but his brows were slightly furrowed.

Jiang Lan's eyes flickered slightly, and he asked in a low voice, "I wonder who is so generous! He can provide so much military pay and food!"

The military pay and food fodder sent by the imperial court were all regulated, and these were obviously not regulated.

When King Yan heard Jiang Lan's question, he shook his head and did not answer, but said.

"Jiang Lan, please arrange for them to stay first! We can deal with the rest later!"

Jiang Lan didn't get the answer she wanted, and her expression remained unchanged.

He bowed and accepted the order, then took Liu Neng and the others down to settle them down.

Prince Yan returned to the palace and went to the study alone. After closing the door, he opened the letter again, looked at it for a few more times, then lit it on a candle and burned it to ashes.

On the other side, Jiang Lan led Liu Neng and others to the villa.

Jiang Lan asked in a familiar tone, "Where are you from? You look quite white, so you must be from the south!"

"By the way, my family is from Bianjing City, but I have been here for more than ten years and I haven't been back for a long time!"

Jiang Lan looked very simple and honest, not like a general, but more like a farmer! It made people unprepared.

Liu Neng smiled and nodded, "Yes! I came from the south! What is the general's name?"

Jiang Lan smiled and said, "My last name is Jiang, and my given name is Lan!"

Liu Neng paused slightly, but his smile remained unchanged.

"I'm Liu Neng. General Jiang, please take good care of me from now on!"

Jiang Lan patted his shoulder and said in a familiar manner, "It's just a small matter, you're welcome!"

Liu Neng smiled and handed him a bag. He knew there was silver inside without even looking.

"This is for the general to drink!"

Jiang Lan declined, and Liu Neng said with a smile, "General, don't think it's too little! If we get to know each other better, we will be friends!"

Jiang Lan had no choice but to accept it reluctantly.

After this interaction, the two sides got to know each other.

Jiang Lan came forward curiously, looking silly, and asked Liu Neng.

"Who is your master? He is so rich!"

"This is the first time I've seen anyone able to afford so much military pay and food!"

Liu Neng also whispered to him, "I can't tell you that yet. But my master will be here in two days."

"Then the General will know."

Jiang Lan's eyes flickered slightly, but she still nodded with a smile, "Okay, when the time comes, I will definitely go to greet you in person!"

After sending Liu Neng and the others off, on the way back, He Yuqing followed Jiang Lan and couldn't help asking him.

"General, who are they?"

Jiang Lan thought about it and shook her head. "It's not clear yet, but we'll know in a few days!"

Then he frowned and looked at He Yuqing, "Have you placed all the people I asked you to place?"

He Yuqing nodded quickly, "Don't worry, General, I have taken care of it!"

Jiang Lan then patted his shoulder with satisfaction and comforted him.

"Don't worry, you will get whatever you want! After all, we are loyal to His Majesty."

He Yuqing's eyes lit up and he nodded in agreement.

"Okay, you go back first! I still have things to do!" Jiang Lan said, and went in another direction.

On the other side, after Jiang Lan left, the three people behind Liu Neng collapsed in their seats, motionless.

"Oh my goodness, I'm so tired." Situ Yu closed his eyes. "No, no, I need to get some sleep first, don't call me!"

They had been traveling with so much military pay and food these days. They were very nervous along the way and didn't dare to rest. It took them a full month and a half to get here.

They all couldn't bear it anymore.

Next to Situ Yu sat a little girl, who no longer looked like a girl, lying on her back with her legs spread out. There was dirt on her pretty face.

The little boy said with a tired face, "I can't do it either, but I still want to take a bath, then have a good meal, and then rest."

Sitting on the other side of the little boy was Changying, who had become much more taciturn since Qiu Shanxi's incident.

Although he didn't say anything, he lay in the chair motionless.

Liu Neng looked at these useless people and said speechlessly, "How old are you? You are so tired!"

"I'm already old, and I never say I'm tired!"

He kicked Situ Yu's feet and said, "Move aside, make room for me and let me sit down first."

“Do you know how to respect the elderly?”

Situ Yu didn't want to give up the seat. He looked at the chair at the back and said, "Isn't there one over there? Why are you trying to grab it from me?"

"I won't lead, get out of here!" He kicked Situ Yu again.

Situ Yu had no choice but to get up and sit on the other side of Changying.

After he sat down, the little boy closed his eyes and asked with a frown.

"Is that the man our master told us to be on guard against?"

"Jiang Lan! Is that the person?"

Liu Neng also leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes and rested, "It should be him."

"Next, when we speak in front of him, we must be careful not to let him notice anything."

Several people nodded.

Just as the little girl was about to speak again, Changying suddenly opened her eyes, reached out to cover the little girl's mouth, and whispered in her ear, "Shh! There's someone outside!"
