Chapter 83 Seizing the Opportunity
Yan Jing paused in his drinking motion. "Familiar? Who does he look like?"
He had a guess in his mind, but he didn't say it out loud.
The two exchanged a glance and swallowed nervously.
“She looks a lot like…Princess Jinglan.”
"who?"
Yan Jing thought he had misheard; wasn't Jinglan Yunxuan's daughter?
How did she, a little exiled child, end up at a gambling den?
"Commander, we just thought it was impossible for exiled people to be in the gambling den, which is why we haven't said anything."
Ever since the Prince of Jin's family was sentenced to exile, Yan Jing's luck has plummeted.
First, they searched his house but found no silver. Then, rumors spread that Prince Jin had been wronged, and he was directly punished by the emperor and confined to his home.
His face immediately swelled up like a pig's head, and the poison would flare up every two days, each time more painful than the last.
Everyone says that there is no poison that Pei Jishi cannot cure, but he spent so much money to smooth things over, and in the end he was kicked out by that scoundrel Li Dali!
Now he was told that the person Li Dali was willing to offend Fifth Master to meet was actually that little brat Yun Zhao.
Could it be that Yun Zhao came here specifically to ward off him?
Yan Jing suddenly felt uneasy and immediately stood up.
"Let's go, let's get out of here right away."
It's already late at night. Should we not sleep and travel through the night?
The two men found it strange, but they could only follow him and lead the horse away.
After mounting his horse, before he had even left, a tiger's roar came from afar.
"Hugh!"
The horse beneath them was so frightened that it raised its front hooves and neighed, almost throwing the three of them to the ground.
Fortunately, the Imperial Guards were not to be underestimated; they immediately tightened the reins and brought the frightened horse under control.
"This place is no place to stay any longer, let's go!"
Yan Jing squeezed his feet together and sped away.
But this very roar was heard by the tiger, whose hearing was very keen.
"roar!"
The tiger excitedly took a stride, and the people following behind immediately sensed something was wrong.
"Why did it speed up again?"
"I think I just heard a horse neighing!"
Xu Yifei had keen hearing; he heard it even though Lu Xun hadn't.
"Young Master Xu's hearing is truly remarkable, comparable to that of a tiger!"
Lu Xun couldn't help but exclaim, "No wonder he's the man who can break chains with his bare hands!"
"They're probably up ahead, hurry and give chase!"
"Brother Jingchen, you guys go first, Tiger Tiger isn't strong enough!"
Yun Zhao pointed ahead, watching as the tiger slowed down, clearly showing signs of exhaustion.
Wei Jingchen immediately accelerated and overtook Yun Zhao.
"You'd better watch yourself!"
He then left with Lu Xun.
"Uncle, Junior Brother, hurry and chase after them! Don't let them get away!"
Yun Zhao urged the two of them anxiously.
"Then you'll be all alone..."
Xian Pingyan was somewhat worried; it was too dangerous for a five-year-old child to be left alone at the back.
"I'm not alone! I have Tiger protecting me! Hurry up, those Imperial Guards are really powerful!"
He even bullied my mother and me! Uncle, you must catch him and avenge my mother and me!
Yun Zhao waved her little fist and said something that successfully angered Xu Yifei.
"Don't worry, Zhao Zhao, your uncle will catch him for you and let you beat him up to get revenge!"
Xu Yifei is too easily provoked; a single sentence can send him away.
Xian Pingyan hesitated for a moment, while Yun Zhao was extremely anxious.
"Junior brother, hurry up and catch up with him to check if he has been infected with the plague. We can't let him infect Brother Jingchen!"
"I have my tiger protecting me, so I'm fine. It'll help me catch up with you soon!"
After hearing her words, Xian Ping thought for a moment, gritted her teeth, and caught up with Xu Yifei.
"Then be careful."
After sending them away one by one, Yun Zhao patted the tiger's head.
"Come on, let's eat some fruit and then go chase after them over there!"
She took out two fruits from her spatial storage, and the human and the tiger each ate one.
"Have you replenished your energy? Let's go!"
"Waaah!"
The tiger responded and sped off in another direction.
Yun Zhao had already confirmed Yan Jing's location through the tiger, but she had her own considerations.
It was Yan Jing who led the raid on the Prince of Jin's mansion, if Gao Minglang wasn't lying to her.
When Yan Jing received the imperial edict to confiscate his property, the ministers in the court had not yet received any news from Jiangnan.
He might know some inside information.
Yun Zhao poisoned him himself, so she naturally has ways to interrogate him.
She didn't want anyone else to know about this, so she had Tiger lead them on a detour.
After the tiger ate the fruit and regained its strength, it led Yun Zhao over the hillside and took a shortcut to intercept him halfway.
Not long after the chase, Yun Zhao noticed that the tiger had become unusually excited.
"You caught up with them? Where are they?"
The forest kept the night out, so Yun Zhao couldn't see what was happening in the woods, but the tiger could.
Just below the small hill, three people were riding horses at full speed.
"Well done! We must seize the opportunity!"
Yun Zhao took out poison from his spatial storage, clenched the packet tightly, and handed the battlefield over to the tiger.
Tigers possess tremendous explosive power and are excellent hunters.
It soared straight to the top of the hillside, stood there overlooking its prey, and waited for it to approach.
Although Yun Zhao could not see clearly what was happening in the mountains and forests, he could clearly hear the sound of horses' hooves approaching from afar.
As the tiger crouched down, she could clearly feel that its muscles were taut, ready to pounce!
Yun Zhao climbed off its back, grabbed the vines beside him, and slowly climbed down the hillside.
Just as Yan Jing was riding his horse past the bottom of the hillside, the tiger suddenly swooped down and pounced on the man on horseback!
Yan Jing turned his head and saw a flash of green light before he was instantly knocked down by a force!
"Thump!"
He was thrown to the ground and slammed hard against a tree with a loud thud!
"roar!"
The tiger stepped on Yan Jing and roared at him.
The stench of hot, foul-smelling air sprayed all over his face, the stench making him want to vomit.
The horse was startled and reared up on its front hooves as if fleeing.
"Commander, be careful!"
Two of his men drew their swords from their waists, leaped off their horses, and charged at the tiger.
The blades flashed, and just as they were about to strike, the tiger suddenly turned and dodged.
"Commander, let's go!"
One person pulled Yan Jing up, while the other stood in front of them.
But Yan Jing was too badly injured; he could barely breathe, let alone stand up.
Upon seeing this, the two suddenly exchanged a glance and nodded emphatically.
"Whoosh!"
One of them pulled out a dagger from his sleeve and stabbed Yan Jing with a sudden thrust!
Yun Zhao grabbed the grass vines and came down. When she reached the halfway point, she sat down and took out the hidden arrows that had been confiscated earlier.
As soon as I looked up, I heard Yan Jing angrily rebuking me with difficulty.
What are you doing?!
Yun Zhao frantically loaded his hidden arrows, and when he looked up, he saw them raising their daggers and viciously stabbing at Yan Jing!
Yun Zhao's eyes widened, and he quickly raised the hidden arrow.
Without thinking twice, just launch!
"Whoosh whoosh!"
The sound of arrows piercing the air startled the two imperial guards. They dodged the hidden arrows, but in doing so, they inadvertently revealed Yan Jing behind them.
Taking advantage of the moment, the tiger lunged forward and bit Yan Jing's leg, dragging him into the depths of the forest!
"Commander!"
The two instinctively chased after him.
"Whoosh whoosh!"
The sudden attack blocked their path again, forcing them to distract themselves and dodge.
As Yun Zhao watched the tiger's figure disappear into the woods, he immediately retrieved the hidden arrow into his spatial storage and grabbed onto the vines to climb back up.
Everything returned to silence. The horses had run away, and the commander was nowhere to be seen. The two were completely bewildered.
"What are we going to do? How are we going to explain this to everyone?"
They were acting on His Majesty's orders: if they could not bring Yan Jing back alive, they must not let him die at the hands of others.
Now that he's died in the tiger's mouth, does that count as "someone else"?
"Stop watching! Hurry up and catch up!"
One of them pointed at the drag marks on the ground and roared angrily.
