Chapter 1: Still so arrogant even after being expelled?

"Wen Shu, listen to my advice. A person should know their own limitations. Don't you know who you are? You and Jiang Yuanchao won't end up well. You know your sister has high standards. She finally found a man she likes, why are you going to compete with her for him?"

As soon as Wen Shu arrived at her doorstep, she saw Su Ying standing there, carrying a Hermes bag, looking exquisite, elegant, and luxurious.

"I'm an orphan girl, where would I get an older sister?"

Su Ying paused, then continued, "Jiang Yuanchao is career-driven and ambitious; he'd never marry you. Wanwan is different; she has a powerful family background and can help Jiang Yuanchao. What do you have? Besides an illegitimate child, what can you compare to Wanwan?"

Wen Shu looked at the woman in front of her and found it all amusing.

Su Ying was an actress in her youth. After marrying the wealthy Zhong Tingsong, she went to great lengths to cover up the truth about having given birth to a daughter, forcing Wen Shu's father, Wen Mingyuan, to go abroad to make a living.

Five-year-old Wen Shu was abandoned by her grandparents at her maternal grandmother's doorstep and disappeared.

Four years ago, when her grandmother was hospitalized, Su Ying finally returned, but had someone take a picture of Wen Shu and take her away.

A few days later, Su Ying said she wanted to take Wen Shu to the Zhong family to enjoy a life of luxury, but Wen Shu flatly refused...

Later, Wen Shu learned that the Zhong family planned to marry her off to a very important person in order to win him over. This person was over fifty years old, widowed, and older than Wen Mingyuan.

"Shushu?"

Three-year-old Wen Rou Rou, carrying a small schoolbag, looked up at them with her pretty chubby face.

Wen Shu's face immediately lit up with a smile, "Was Rou Rou well-behaved at kindergarten today?"

Wen Rou Rou blinked her big eyes and obediently answered, "Dumb."

The classmate's mother, who was helping with the pick-up and drop-off, waved to Wen Shu from a distance.

Wen Shu nudged the little guy, "Rou Rou, go see what delicious food Grandma made today."

Wen Rourou's tender little face was full of worries. After glancing at them, she pushed open the door and entered the courtyard.

Su Ying complained, "I introduced you to a good match back then, but you didn't want it. You insisted on suffering for yourself."

Wen Shu said, "Such a good match, introduce it to Zhong Wanwan."

"What kind of status does Wanwan have? How could she possibly become an old man's second wife?"

Wen Shu gave a mocking laugh.

Su Ying awkwardly tried to salvage the situation, saying, "Wanwan is different from you; she has high standards."

Wen Shu nodded: "Yes, I should be picking up trash."

Su Ying was too lazy to say anything more. She took out a wad of cash from her bag and stuffed it into Wen Shu's hand.

"I don't want to say anything harsh, but you can keep this money and use it to help with raising your child. When Wanwan marries Jiang Yuanchao, she won't forget your kindness."

Wen Shu held the money and tested it; it was quite thick, probably worth ten thousand.

Su Ying breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Wanwan had accepted the money, knowing that she had successfully completed the task Wanwan had assigned her.

"I'm leaving." She glanced at Wen Shu and turned to go.

"etc!"

Wen Shu opened her mouth.

Su Ying looked at Wen Shu with a puzzled expression, "What's wrong? You think it's not enough?"

She turned to look at her with disdain. This money must be worth two months of her salary, right?

Wen Shu walked up to Su Ying and said, "I've never had a drop of milk from you since I was little, and I haven't spent a single penny of your money growing up, so I certainly won't take your money now. Here you go!"

Wen Shu stuffed the wad of money into Su Ying's arms, "With Zhong Wanwan's abilities, does she need me to give way to a man?"

Su Ying's face darkened: "Wen Shu, a wise person knows when to yield. Your father was blind back then, and now you're being foolish too. Are you going to fight the Zhong family and stand up for your father?"

As soon as she finished speaking, the courtyard door was pulled open, and her grandmother came in carrying a ladle of water, her face ashen.

"Shameless bastard! Not only do you raise other people's children, but you also help outsiders bully your own daughter!"

"If I had known you were such a heartless wretch, I should have drowned you in a chamber pot at birth. If you don't want your own mother to expose all the shameful things you've done over the years to the media, then get out of here!"

Su Ying's expression changed upon seeing her grandmother, "Mom..."

Grandma splashed the ladle of water at Su Ying's feet, "Shut up, I'm not your mother, don't dirty my home. Get out!"

Startled, Su Ying quickly took a step back: "...I can let Wen Shu off the hook, but if the Zhong family wants to make a move, that's none of my business!"

After saying that, Su Ying put on sunglasses and a mask and hurriedly left.

When Wen Shu entered the house, Wen Rou Rou was sitting on the sofa in the small living room watching cartoons and munching on a big steamed bun made by her grandmother.

Wen Shu walked up to him and squatted down, staring at Wen Rourou's face with her eyes.

Wen Rou Rou calmly watched TV.

Wen Shu reached out and cupped his chubby little face, becoming more and more alarmed as she looked at him. Why didn't the son she was giving birth to look like her?

"The bun is delicious."

Wen Rou Rou held up the big steamed bun, and Shu Shu told him not to stare at his chubby face.

Wen Shu took a big bite of Wen Rourou's chubby face and decided to buy some masks for the little guy in a couple of days, so that he would have to wear a mask whenever he went out.

She had already come up with a reason: it's pollen season, and Wen Baozi is allergic to pollen, even if she's not allergic!

Not taking the stack of money soon had repercussions.

The next morning, as soon as Wen Shu arrived at the company, she was stopped outside by the HR manager, who wouldn't let her in.

The HR manager said in a businesslike tone, "Ms. Wen, President Jiang called me early this morning to inform me that you have been dismissed, effective immediately."

When Wen Shu signed the termination and dismissal form, she discovered that it said "dismissed".

She looked up: "Why is it 'fired'? Wasn't it supposed to be 'dismissed'? What did I do wrong to deserve being fired?"

"I'm sorry, I have no comment."

The HR manager told the company engineer, "Take away everything from Ms. Wen's company, including computers and documents, to prevent anyone from deliberately deleting important data."

The other party's words were harsh, cold, and merciless, as if they were treating a stranger, completely trampling on Wen Shu's dignity and self-respect.

Wen Shu felt a chill run through her heart, knowing that the company was doing everything it could to get her to leave.

"Manager Xiao, let's not make things difficult for each other. I'll clean it up myself."

"Excuse me, let us do it. I'm worried you might accidentally take company property."

Wen Shu's mind went blank. They were treating her like a thief, which was simply outrageous!

She suddenly reached out and firmly grabbed the HR manager's wrist, saying forcefully, "Manager Xiao, you're worried I'll take company property, but I'm also worried you'll damage my personal belongings."

“You…” The HR manager’s face turned ashen.

A colleague next to him scoffed, "Still so arrogant after being fired?"

Wen Shu looked at the other person and said, "If you're going to fire me, you should at least point out which company rule I violated. If I'm being fired without cause, why can't I be arrogant?"

The HR manager said, "If you are dissatisfied with the company's decision, you can apply for labor arbitration."

Since the other party had already thrown away the pretense of civility, Wen Shu decided not to be polite anymore.

She forcefully shook off the HR manager's hand.

"You can take company property, but please don't touch a single pen of my personal belongings!"
