Wen Shu was so angry that she couldn't speak for a long time. She had already said that she did not want to attract Li Duo's attention. Was he deaf?
"I'll apply to go to another square tomorrow!" Wen Shu said, turning to leave.
She had just taken a step when she suddenly felt a tightness around her neck, followed by a thud as something fell at Jin Chao's feet. "Your things?"
Jin Chao picked it up, glanced at it, and saw it was a pendant. He opened the pendant and found a picture of a young man inside.
The man in the photo has deep, unfathomable eyes and is very handsome.
Jin Chao didn't look closely before Wen Shu snatched it back, saying, "Don't take other people's things without permission."
With that, she stuffed the pendant into her wallet, put it in her backpack, and swayed away.
When returning the dolls that evening, she told the owner she wanted to go to a different plaza.
The owner considered that carrots were very popular, and many people came specifically to take photos with them. He was afraid that if the square were used instead, the effect would not be the same.
"This mall costs 300 a day, other places cost 200 a day. You choose one."
Wen Shu: "Three hundred."
She went to pick up Wen Rou Rou, but the bus was quite crowded, so Wen Shu decided to walk to the next stop before taking the bus.
On the way, she vaguely felt that someone was very close to her behind her. She subconsciously turned around, but found that there were only pedestrians walking normally behind her, and no one else.
Wen Shu stood there in confusion, reaching out to pull her backpack forward, only to find that her precious bag had been slashed and her wallet was missing.
Wen Shu felt her mind go blank. In her wallet, besides the daily wage she had just received, there was also the chain that had been accidentally broken earlier that day.
There's only three hundred in cash, but that chain...
Wen Shu turned around abruptly. Her feeling was right; someone had indeed followed her and stolen her wallet.
She didn't know who it was, but she immediately shouted, "Stop! Give me back my wallet!"
People who were walking normally turned their heads to look, but one person reflexively took off running.
The man who was walking in the opposite direction from Wen Shu when she turned around just now.
Wen Shu took off chasing after him, shouting, "Stop!"
After turning into an alley, Wen Shu was too exhausted to run any further. She leaned against the wall, panting, her chain...
The police officer on patrol called out to her, "Wen Shu?"
Wen Shu looked up, and Officer Lin asked, "Why are you running so fast?"
Upon seeing the police, Wen Shu rushed over, panting, "Officer Lin, my wallet was stolen. It had three hundred yuan in cash and a chain inside..."
Officer Lin looked at her sympathetically. "You're really unlucky. Come on, let's go to the police station to report this."
Exhausted, Wen Shu looked at the sky and realized that her beloved pet dog was going to be waiting in vain again.
Wen Rou Rou was sitting on a small stool in the security room watching cartoons when the security guard opened the door and saw Wen Shu covered in sweat. He asked, "Working overtime again?"
Wen Shu apologized profusely.
Wen Rourou obediently came out, took a tissue in her little hand, and stood on tiptoe to wipe her sweat. "Are you tired?"
"Not tired."
"Shushu, don't run, you'll fall."
Wen Shu almost burst into tears, "Okay, Shu Shu won't run away next time."
That evening, Officer Lin called Wen Shu and said that the person had been caught; he was a habitual thief.
The man took the money, thought the necklace was worthless, and threw it away. The empty wallet was picked up by a cleaner.
The next morning, Officer Lin sent her a screenshot from the surveillance video. The discarded pendant appeared to have been picked up by someone, and the photo only showed a blurry figure.
Officer Lin told him the truth: he estimated that it was probably gone.
Wen Shu saw the screenshot and thought the figure picking up the things looked familiar.
...
"Brother Chao, you're actually using such an antique thing?"
The secretary covered her mouth, looking like she'd just stumbled upon some juicy gossip.
Jin Chao: "?"
Looking down at the chain in his hand, he said, "It's not mine, I found it."
Is it valuable?
"What's this thing worth?" Jin Chao suddenly felt that the pendant looked familiar. He picked it up and examined it. He felt like he had seen it before.
He pinched the pendant at the bottom, opened it, and exclaimed, "Hey? Isn't this hers?"
"Whose?"
Jin Chao walked towards the window and immediately saw the naughty carrot jumping and playing with the children below.
Jin Chao found it funny that she had snatched the pendant from him so fiercely yesterday. How could she have lost such a precious item?
When Li Duo went to the restroom, he saw Jin Chao and his secretary huddled together looking down and discussing carrots. He was furious.
"Jin Chao!"
Jin Chao was startled. "President Li, I found something this morning. It looks like it belongs to Miss Wen."
Li Duo stood at the door, radiating coldness. "She's already bribed you?"
"I really found it."
Li Duo took it and looked at it; there were no markings whatsoever. "How did you know it was hers?"
“I saw it yesterday, and there was a photo inside, probably of her ex-boyfriend.”
Li Duo's heart skipped a beat. His ex-boyfriend?
He reached out and opened the pendant, revealing a picture of a very handsome young man.
Li Duo's eyes darkened, and a strange emotion welled up inside him, making him feel a bit irritable.
He reached out and closed the pendant, then turned and left, saying, "Get ready for a meeting."
Jin Chao stared at the pendant. Was President Li not going to give it to him?
"Mr. Li, if you see Miss Wen, please return it to her. She seems to value this item quite a bit."
Li Duo left without looking back.
Jin Chao silently thought to himself, "It's not that I don't want to pay back the money, but that my boss has control over my mortgage, car loan, insurance, and my savings for my future wife."
At lunchtime, Jin Chao made a special detour to the carrot.
Wen Shu chose a secluded spot and sat on the steps to eat her boxed lunch.
When Jin Chao arrived, he saw her holding a lunchbox in one hand and drinking water in the other.
Wen Shu looked up and saw Jin Chao looking at her through the bushes by the roadside, which puzzled her.
She disliked Li Duo's lackeys, so Wen Shu glared at him and continued eating.
Jin Chao hesitated, but ultimately, for the sake of his job, he shut his mouth and walked away.
He hadn't walked two steps when he accidentally dropped his keys, so he bent down to pick them up.
When Wen Shu saw him bending down to pick something up, she suddenly remembered the figure in the surveillance screenshot that Officer Lin had sent, which looked very much like the person in front of her!
Wen Shu stood up abruptly and rushed over: "Mr. Jin!"
Jin Chao stopped and looked at her.
"Mr. Jin, do you live in the Lingjiang District?"
"yes."
"Did you find a necklace this morning? The one with the pendant on it, the one you saw yesterday."
Jin Chao looked at her.
He didn't answer, so Wen Shu guessed that he must have found it.
"That chain is very important to me, could you please give it back to me?"
Li Duo and several executives came out of the mall. He took out the chain in his hand and saw the carrot at a glance.
Before he even got close, he heard her say to Jin Chao, "...I'm really important to you, please!"
Li Duo suddenly stopped, staring at the two men with a gloomy look in his eyes, and slowly stuffed the chain pendant he was holding into his suit pocket.
She really doesn't discriminate when it comes to food; she casts a wide net!
