Wen Shu stiffened upon hearing his voice.
She then casually put away her spoon, saying, "Grandma, the doctor said you can't eat too much right now."
Wen Rou Rou, wearing a bib, faced the wall, obediently lying on a small stool, eating with a spoon.
Wen Shu took the bowls and chopsticks her grandmother had used to wash them. She deliberately dawdled and refused to return to the ward, just because she didn't want to face Li Duo.
Her phone suddenly rang. She picked it up and saw a text message from Li Duo: "Wait for me at the car downstairs."
Wen Shu looked at the text message; it was from that afternoon when Li Duo had saved his phone number.
Wen Shu hesitated for a moment, but didn't dare to refuse.
When she washed the dishes and returned them to the ward, Li Duo was already gone.
She told Rou Rou to eat obediently, and then hurriedly went downstairs to find Li Duo.
The silver Bentley blended into the crowd of cars, appearing remarkably understated in the silent underground parking garage.
Wen Shu found the car and nervously knocked on the window: "Mr. Li."
The car window rolled down, and Li Duo sat inside with a gloomy face. "I told you to wait for me, where are you?"
Wen Shu moved her lips, "...I'm sorry."
"Get in the car."
Wen Shu was startled, "The child is in the ward, I can't leave..."
Did I say I left?
Wen Shu was taken aback. She looked at Li Duo's face as the car window slowly rolled up and the door opened. "Get in."
Wen Shu took a deep breath and sat down.
The car windows automatically have blinds, and the driver's seat automatically folds up to make room.
Wen Shu's face turned pale. "Mr. Li, wasn't this afternoon..."
Li Duo firmly extended his hand, "I never said it would be divided into several sessions throughout the day!"
In the evening, Wen Shu took Rou Rou back home for a bath. The chubby little guy sat in the bathtub, playing with the little ducks in the water.
Wen Shu washed his hair, smiling as she said, "Our Rou Rou is a sweet-smelling little boy..."
No sooner had the words left his mouth than the sound of glass being smashed came from outside.
Wen Shu immediately stood up to check, and then she heard footsteps and men's laughter outside.
The windows in the yard were smashed.
Wen Shu deliberately made a noise, reached behind the door, grabbed the insecticide, tucked it behind her back, and walked towards the yard.
Who's outside?
A man blocked the door. Wen Shu knew that her grandmother had been frightened by them in this way.
A man peered through the crack in the door. "Oh, a beautiful woman. How much for a night with such a beauty?"
Wen Shu slowly approached, then suddenly pulled out an insecticide and sprayed it wildly into the eye.
The man outside immediately let out a scream: "Aaaaaah... What is that? Holy crap—it's insecticide!"
"Quickly wash my eyes! Quickly wash my eyes!"
Five minutes later, the two thugs squatted next to the laundry tap in Wen Shu's yard. Wen Shu, expressionless, took the hose and rinsed one of their eyes.
The two thugs were sitting, one squatting and the other standing.
Wen Shu asked, "Go to the hospital yourself, you deserve to go blind!"
The kid, whose eyes were bloodshot and could barely open, said, "You're too ruthless!"
"This time it's insecticide, next time it'll be highly toxic pesticide. If you dare to cause trouble again, none of you will escape."
Wen Shu slammed the water pipe back down. "Pay for the glass before you leave!"
The young thug looked to be only in his early twenties. "We didn't want to come, but someone paid us. It's stupid not to make money..."
"Pay up!" Wen Shu held the insecticide in one hand and stretched out the other, demanding money, and said fiercely, "Thirty for a piece of glass!"
The thug, fearing she would spray insecticide again, actually gave her thirty yuan.
Wen Shu forced the two to the door, saying, "Get out, and don't come back next time."
As he spoke, he waved the insecticide in his hand, and the thug immediately ran away.
Wen Shu closed the door and went back inside. Wen Rou Rou was still sitting obediently in the bathtub. "Shu Shu, who is it?"
Wen Shu laughed and said, "They were two boys who didn't study properly and just broke our window."
"Oh dear, you naughty child! What if the glass breaks?"
"They lost money on the glass; we'll buy new ones tomorrow."
Back at the hospital, she lay down on the cot with Rou Rou in her arms and sent a text message: You broke your promise.
At the Kongquetai Apartment, Li Duo saw the text message ten minutes later. He stared at the message and confirmed that it was sent by Wen Shu.
He immediately called back.
Fortunately, Wen Shu was prepared and turned the volume to silent. She took the phone outside the door to answer it.
Li Duo held the phone, his voice languid, "What do you mean I broke my promise?"
Wen Shu lowered her voice, "Mr. Li, you promised to guarantee the safety of my family."
"So they're not safe now?" Li Duo asked rhetorically.
Wen Shu glanced around the ward but didn't say anything.
It is indeed safe now.
but……
"Wen Shu." Li Duo's voice sounded somewhat distorted through the microphone, "Why do you think you're so valuable that I should do everything you want to solve all your problems?"
Wen Shu pursed her lips and remained silent.
"Or do you think your performance has satisfied me?"
Wen Shu was silent for a few seconds, "Their safety is my biggest concern..."
"But one of your requests is that your son be enrolled in school."
Wen Shu fell silent again. "I understand. I'm sorry, Mr. Li."
Li Duo listened to her voice, "Come here now, and I can grant you one wish..."
Wen Shu stared into the ward. "I'm sorry, Mr. Li, it's not possible now."
