At the hospital entrance, Wen Shu held up a business card and dialed the number on it.
The call connected quickly, and Wen Shu asked, "Hello, is this Mr. Sun? I heard you can help with obtaining a birth permit. Do you only handle birth permits, or can you handle other procedures?"
Old Sun and his companion looked at the incoming phone number with smug expressions in their eyes.
They were just about to call her when she unexpectedly showed up at their door!
What's your child's name? How old is he/she?
"Wen Xingzhou."
"Hey, we had this name before, it was run by an old lady, do you know her?"
Wen Shu replied, "She should be my maternal grandmother. But she's currently hospitalized and can't do it. However, she keeps thinking about this and insists that I get it done, so I have no choice but to contact you again."
Old Sun and his companion exchanged a smile. "How about this? Your grandmother has already paid for the certificate. Considering your grandmother's illness and your own difficulties, I won't charge you twice. Come over and get another set, and I'll tell you how to do it in person."
Wen Shu replied, "Tell me the address, and I'll pick a time to go there."
"Why pick a time? Just come now. The sooner it's done, the sooner you're free. You don't want things to get complicated, do you?"
Wen Shu said expressionlessly, "I'm in the hospital right now and can't come over. I can only do it tomorrow."
Seeing that the other party wouldn't budge, Old Sun had no choice but to change the time, "Then tomorrow at noon, as long as you come before eight o'clock, there will be someone there."
Old Sun smiled smugly. The later they arrived, the fewer people there would be, making things easier and ensuring their safety.
"Okay, see you tomorrow, Mr. Sun." Wen Shu said and hung up the phone.
She had just entered the hospital when her phone suddenly rang. It was a call from the hospital: her grandmother had woken up!
Wen Shu rushed frantically into the ward.
Inside the double hospital bed, Wen Shu, disregarding the family members in the next room, rushed over, "Grandma!"
Grandma's mouth opened and closed, "...Yes...Yes...No..."
Seeing her grandmother wearing an oxygen mask and with her head shaved, Wen Shu held her hand with heartache. "It's okay, Grandma. You don't need to apologize. It's not your fault about getting the certificate. I know you did it all for Rou Rou."
"Also, the police told me to tell you that you are the victim, and those who forged documents are the real suspects. The police were looking for you to understand the situation, not to arrest you. You misunderstood them."
"Just focus on taking care of yourself and don't worry about anything else. My succulent and I are both fine, so don't worry."
Tears streamed down Grandma's face, and her chapped lips moved slightly. "...Really...really?"
"Of course it's true. Would I lie to you about something this important?" Wen Shu carefully wiped away her tears and said softly, "I asked Officer Lin myself. Do you remember Officer Lin? He's the handsome guy who helped me clear things up last time. He looks like an honest man and wouldn't lie."
Grandma nodded almost imperceptibly and slowly fell asleep.
Wen Shu wiped away her tears, then stood up. She still had a tough battle to fight. As long as she could prove that those people were lawbreakers, her grandmother would naturally be the victim!
"What kind of certificate did your grandmother get? A fake one?" a stern-faced middle-aged man from next door suddenly asked.
Wen Shu was taken aback, looked at the other person, and her pupils immediately contracted. "Are you that very famous online content creator with millions of followers—media personality Zou Wei?"
Zou Wei asked in surprise, "You know me?"
"Yes, I know you. I've been following you online!"
...
The following morning, after delivering the meat, Wen Shu went to the police station for mediation.
Zhong Wanwan stayed up all night here, her face was ashen, and she was almost completely drained of energy.
Upon seeing her like this, Su Ying felt a pang of heartache. "Wanwan!"
"Aunt Su!" Zhong Wanwan hugged Su Ying. "You've finally arrived!"
Zhong Tingsong didn't come, but Su Ying did.
Wen Shu saw Li Duo waiting at the door and nodded to him, "Mr. Li."
Li Duo turned to look at her; she looked slightly better than yesterday.
She was wearing jeans with a crew neck t-shirt, her hair in a high ponytail, and a crossbody bag. At first glance, she looked like a student just starting out in the workforce.
Li Duo stood in front of her, saying, "Wanwan has been spoiled since she was a child. You don't need to argue with her. It's your right to make any demands later. As long as they're not excessive, I'll take care of it for you."
Wen Shu lowered her head and chuckled softly. What did he mean by saying all this? Was it to prove that he wasn't biased? To prove that he was selfless?
She glanced at Li Duo and said with a hint of sarcasm, "Mr. Li, thank you very much for allowing me to reconcile with Miss Zhong."
Li Duo frowned. "You know perfectly well that's not what I meant, so why are you arguing with me?"
What's going on?
Wen Shu felt uncomfortable with his words, but she didn't argue with him.
She looked directly into his face. "Mr. Li, I think you have some misunderstandings about me. Let me clarify: I really have no ulterior motives towards you, and you are not my type."
The peace in Li Duo's eyes gradually disappeared, slowly giving way to a sinister look.
His face was grim as he stared into Wen Shu's eyes, then suddenly pinned her against the wall.
Wen Shu barely moved her hand before he pressed it down hard.
"Miss Wen, I think you've misunderstood. A woman like you doesn't interest me. Have you misunderstood something?"
Wen Shu pursed her lips and moved closer, letting his breath spray onto her face.
She swallowed silently. "I didn't misunderstand. I know Mr. Li was just teasing me before, and he was only pitying me because of the child."
Li Duo exuded coldness as he stared into her eyes for a long time before slowly releasing his grip. "Good to know."
