Chapter 145 Invitation

Yan Zi's face was full of doubt and confusion.

Wu Zhiyong just smiled and said, "This thing will eventually be useful to you. Although I don't know why those people want me to give it to you, they have already said that I cannot keep it for myself."

After he finished speaking, he and his teammates left immediately, moving so fast it seemed as if something was chasing them.

Yan Zi stared at the invitation in her hand with a misunderstanding, and then strode away from the area.

Before leaving, she glanced back at the halo of white light. There was no movement or strange sound coming from inside. Could it be that the dragon had simply vanished without a trace?

A-Jiao: "Master, there's no need to worry. That dragon should be dead. I can no longer feel its oppressive aura!"

Yan Zi frowned; she hadn't forgotten the system message that popped up: sacrifice the dragon to release the mermaid...

She resorted to this method to save her own life, not knowing whether it would cause any serious consequences.

Yan Zi was very heavy-hearted. After returning to the shelter, she immediately contacted Mingyue, the new leader of the mermaid clan.

She didn't tell him about the sacrifice, but only asked if the mermaid and the dragon clan had any inseparable relationship.

After a long silence, Mingyue slowly sent out the secrets she knew.

"Our mermaid clan has a place among all races, but we have always prioritized peace and do not wish to get involved in the conflicts of any other race. A thousand years ago, a dragon princess came to our palace for a trial visit and fell in love with our young master Sarapo. It was originally a happy union for both of us, but we were unexpectedly punished by the heavens. Therefore, we were frozen in two places, unable to meet or reunite!"

Yan Zi was speechless when she heard about the story of the dragon princess and the mermaid king's offspring.

Why is their relationship so bumpy?

Mingyue continued in detail: "At first, the relationship between the two races was just bad, but later, for some reason, the relationship between the two races became more and more bad and barbaric, and now it has reached the point of irreconcilable enmity."

Yan Zi: "Last time I showed you those mermaid fragments, do you know what those things are for?"

Mingyue pondered for a while, a hint of struggle on her face, before letting go: "Those mermaid fragments are basically items dropped by you outsiders after you killed the mutated beasts. Perhaps they carry some residual memories. This is just my guess, after all, no one has tested it yet."

Upon hearing this, Yan Zi's heart skipped a beat. Could it be that Mingyue really knew something?

"If that's the case, then shouldn't I pay even more attention to these fragments?"

When Mingyue saw the message she sent, she couldn't help but smile: "Master, there's no need to worry. These things are just material possessions. Besides, my people are truly gone once they die. Even if fragments remain, they are just obsessions and don't need to be taken seriously."

Yan Zi: "Don't you ever miss it?"

When Mingyue saw this sentence, her heart skipped a beat. She panicked a little: "A consciousness possessed by resentment will only repeat what it wants to do until it vanishes into thin air."

Only then did Yan Zi finally understand that the mermaid fragments wanted to perish together with the dragon.

As it turned out, they did indeed perish together.

However, Yan Zi still didn't seem happy upon hearing the news, even though she had received a high-level purple treasure chest.

Mingyue: "Master, those fragments followed you willingly. They felt that you could help them find their obsessions and allow them to pass on, so they kept asking me not to tell you. But they won't hurt you. Master, is something wrong?"

Yan Zi: "No, I just suddenly realized something!"

After much hesitation, Mingyue still sent an invitation.

“Master, this was given to me by my great-grandmother. She said that after reading this, you will understand. We couldn’t help hiding this from you. We knew they wouldn’t harm you, so we let it go.”

Yan Zi's lips twitched slightly, speechless.

She was actually still a little unhappy.

Mingyue was a friend with whom she had signed a renewal agreement, so she knew very well that Miyue would not do anything to hurt her, nor could she.

But she managed to find a loophole that made her resent her.

When Yan Zi didn't reply for a long time, Mingyue secretly realized something was wrong.

“Master, it is true that I should not have told you everything as your partner, and I should not have allowed the spirits of my dead people to haunt you.”

Yan Zi closed her eyes slightly, feeling a little uncomfortable, and then lay down on the bed, still clutching two invitation cards in her hand.

One is of a mermaid, and the other is of a dragon.

This is clearly a trap!

Is this an attempt to force her to choose a side?

Yan Zi's face visibly turned ugly. As soon as the white fox entered the house, it saw its majestic and domineering master lying on the bed with his face closed.

It rushed up to her, raised its paw and covered her mouth and nose, checking her breathing. After finding that she was still breathing, it withdrew its paw, looked at the thing in her hand with a puzzled expression, and then widened its eyes.

Yan Zi didn't say much after noticing it come in, but simply placed the two invitations in a more conspicuous position.

Upon noticing a hint of ferocity in its expression, she immediately got up, hugged it tightly, stroked its head, and whispered, "Little fox, do you know what these two invitations mean?"

The white fox instantly changed its expression, appearing weak and easily bullied.

Yan Zi sneered and tugged at its cheek, instantly shattering its feigned composure.

"Okay, stop embarrassing me!"

Yan Zi looked at it with a sly smile, like an old lady holding a poisoned apple.

"Can you tell me about it now?"

The white fox lay weakly on the ground: "The two invitations offer different battlefields. If you choose the mermaids, you'll probably have to go on an underwater adventure, since their palaces are mostly built underwater. If you choose the dragons, you can consider going to the heavens."

Yan Zi pouted, somewhat speechless: "You know I don't want to hear that. I'm asking if this thing is harmful?"

The white fox raised its head and looked at her several times with some surprise, its eyes filled with the words "How did you know?"

Yan Zi: "Stop beating around the bush, just tell me."

Left with no other choice, the white fox had to reveal everything it knew!

"Choosing a side is equivalent to accepting their invitation and being willing to settle a matter for them. The mermaid is probably related to that young master Sarabo! As for the dragons, it's probably Princess Sevina."

Yan Zi: "Given your qualifications, which one do you think I should help?"
