Chapter 227 Soul Demise (Part 2) Injured, Soul Demise, Dragon Bones

Chapter 227 Soul Demise (Part 2) Injured, Soul Demise, Dragon Bones

Lightning struck Shulton, or rather, struck the Soul Box he was holding.

The small wooden box turned to dust in an instant, along with its contents.

Perhaps that was Shuddon's goal: to use the necromancer's attack on Laiyi to destroy them directly.

A profound sense of alienation overwhelmed Serral; he had lost all contact with Sutherland.

Ignoring the injury to his shoulder, he dragged his immobile left shoulder and quickly went to the spot where Xiu Dun had been hit.

"Shuton, Shuton, wake up, wake up quickly, tell me you're still here, hurry!"

Seral picked up the only remaining upper half of Shuton.

The soul fire in the skull's eye socket was extremely weak, as if it would go out at any moment.

The necromancer quickly put the magical artifact that could help it speak, along with the spirit-gathering gems scattered on the ground, back around its neck.

Hughton seems to have recovered somewhat this time.

"How is Hughton?"

Ray asked Ryan.

"His soul is disappearing."

Ryan stood far away and did not continue the attack.

"Shuton, speak! Speak now!"

The soul fire flickered, as if it had regained some vitality. However, this was most likely a final burst of energy before death.

"Cerar, little beggar."

"I'm here, I'm right here."

"I threatened Ray to steal the Soul Box, so I released him."

"Okay, I promise you, I promise you! As long as you don't die, I'll agree to anything you ask!"

"You've forgotten, I'm already dead."

No! You're not dead!

Serar's voice was choked with sobs.

Xiu Dun's voice grew increasingly indistinct, and his consciousness was fading. As if remembering past events, he began to ramble incoherently.

At the same time, silver specks of light drifted out from Seral's embrace.

"Cerar, we're friends, you can't do this, it's wrong!"

The necromancer's tears are silent.

"I regret it! Go away! Go away!"

Seral held tightly to Shuton's remaining hand, and more and more silver specks of light drifted around them.

"I won't leave, I'll stay with you forever."

"My heart hurts so much, it hurts so much..."

As Xiu Dun finished speaking, the soul fire in his eye sockets finally went out, and no more silver specks of light floated out.

The soul was drawn away and dissipated, and the skeleton, having lost its supporting core, crumbled away with a crash.

Seral held onto Shutton's skull tightly, unwilling to let go.

It was a noisy summer afternoon with cicadas chirping loudly.

Little Shuton, who sneaked out during his afternoon nap, found Celal, who was still a little beggar, not far from his home.

He didn't have his own name; everyone just called him "Little Beggar."

Because of his gray eyes, which were considered ominous, no one liked him and no one wanted to get close to him.

Only Little Hutton, so soft, so beautiful, like it came out of the light.

Where are your mom and dad?

"Don't you have a mom and dad? Would you like to be my little brother?"

Even though he's younger than me, he still insists on being the older brother.

The little beggar became the young master of the Eggrich family's sidekick and spent the happiest three years of his life there.

Later, Seral, who possessed magical talent, was taken away by a mysterious magician; no one forced him to do so.

He just thought that maybe learning magic could save Southdon's life.

Little did he know, this was yet another cruel joke fate was playing on him...

It was seven years later when he finally resolved all the problems and returned to the Elgrich family.

Hughton has grown up and no longer needs playmates to accompany him all the time.

He longed to run freely like other children his age, but due to his mental illness, he was forever trapped in the manor.

Seral felt both heartache and pity for this boy who had been tormented by fate.

He liked the warm and gentle aura emanating from Shutton, which brought a rare sense of peace to his restless heart, and his gaze could not help but follow him.

Finally, as his emotions accumulated, by the time Seral realized it, he had already fallen in love with Hughton.

They are both men, and Hughton is the only heir in their family. How could he do this!

Serra spends every day with Hughton and has to confront his own unspeakable feelings.

Finally, after leaving a letter, he left again.

Time did not cool the boy's surging emotions; his longing for Xiudun grew stronger day by day.

He gained wealth, status, and the respect of others, but he could never forget the soft, cotton-like boy in his memory.

Seral decided to see Hughton again.

When they met again, Hughton gave him a warm hug without hesitation, and he secretly sniffed the pleasant scent of Hughton's hair like a pervert.

Humans are inherently greedy creatures, and he, having crawled out of hell, was even more so.

Unable to suppress his emotions any longer, Serral confessed his love to his boy on a beautiful evening when flowers were in full bloom.

That was the first time he had ever been so emotionally agitated, given his emotional deprivation.

What was his boy's reply to him? Right, it was the one he just said.

"Cerar, we're friends, you can't do this, it's wrong!"

He has forgotten how he left that day.

All I know is that I heard news about Xiudun again a month later.

Southton is engaged.

He ran to confront Hughton about why he was being treated this way, but Hughton simply told him with a cold look that he liked that girl.

It's fake! It's all fake!

Seral held the person who had broken his heart tightly in his arms, sealing his lips with hers, afraid to hear any more words from her that would make him lose control.

"Smack."

Hughton gave him a resounding slap and told him to get out of the Elgrich Manor.

Then, on the eve of his wedding, Hughton suffered a relapse of his heart palpitations and passed away...

He ripped out his beloved's heart, stole his body, and resurrected his lover in another way.

So what if they're skeletons? They'll always be together, won't they?

Lei and Lian quietly watched Seral kneeling on the ground.

He held the skull of Shutton, sometimes crying, sometimes laughing, but he just wouldn't put it down.

Ray couldn't understand what kind of feelings could turn someone who was once high and mighty into this.

Neither he nor Ryan moved; they simply watched them quietly.

"I promised Hughton I wouldn't kill you, now you can leave."

Serar finally spoke.

"Or, please bury us together."

After speaking, Seral threw his staff into the air. Before Ray could react, the staff had already pierced through his heart.

Even at the moment of his death, Serar's right hand was still tightly clutching the skull.

"he......"

"Dead."

Ryan granted Seral's wish, burning his body, along with the skull staff and Shuddon's remains, to ashes.

We are intertwined, inseparable.

"Actually, I've always had a question: Is Celar even human?"

"Yes and no."

“Logically speaking, he was from the same era as Southorn, so he should be over a hundred years old, but he looks like he’s in his twenties.”

"Everything comes at a price; he sold his soul to the devil."

"Sigh, okay."

Lei sighed.

Ryan retrieved a necklace from the ashes using an energy orb.

"That's amazing, it didn't burn out. What are we going to do with it?"

"You really don't want it?"

"No, no, no, not at all!"

Lai waved his hands repeatedly.

"I've lived for two hundred years already, what's the point of living that long?"

Ryan looked into Ray's eyes and smiled, a rare occurrence for him.

"Put it away, don't let anyone else see it."

"Okay, sure."

Lai took a new cloth, wrapped the Spirit Gathering Necklace in it, and put it into the pendant space.

"Things should be all sorted out now, shall we head back?"

Lei asked.

"Okay, let's go."

The bone knife that Temugi gave him still broke, and Lai was heartbroken.

He searched high and low, finally finding all the fragments and carefully collecting them.

"It's beyond repair, there's no point in taking it back."

Lian glanced at it and immediately sentenced Bone Knife to death.

"I'll take it back as a souvenir, and later frame it and hang it in my home in the small mountain village."

Ryan didn't say anything more and led the way for Ray.

After walking for about half an hour, Lai found the remains of the bone dragon whose tail he had cut off on a hillside not far away.

"Its horns and teeth are still usable. Take it back and have that dwarf make you another knife."

"good."

Ray knew that Ryan must have brought him here on purpose, and he couldn't hide the smile on his face.

What an oddball!

"Stop talking nonsense and hurry up and leave."

"Yes! Yes! This is dragon bone that I got for free. I'd be a fool not to take it."

The pendant space was already overflowing with items.

Lai tidied up the two storage containers, barely managing to fit two dragon horns and four dragon teeth inside, all of which were the hardest canines.

The dragon is made of all sorts of valuable items; with this treasure trove laid out here, it's hard not to be tempted.

Lei picked and chose, throwing away some useless old things, and finally stuffed in a leg bone, two ribs, and some toe bones.

"Why do you need so many?"

Ryan was puzzled.

"It hurt me so badly, I'll get some of its bones and sell them to pay for its nutrition."

"..."

That's reasonable, very reasonable.

Leiner became increasingly self-righteous.

Will we encounter the undead?

Ray has a strong curiosity about this race.

A mysterious race born from ancient battlefields seems to possess unique abilities at the soul level.

"have no idea."

"Then how do we leave the Soul Ruins and return to the royal city?"

“Let’s go back.”

"..."

"All right."

Although it was somewhat disheartening, it was still a solution, at least Ryan knew where to get out.

Lai followed behind Him. The Soul Ruins were too quiet, eerily quiet.

Since Ryan was not one to talk to people, Lai couldn't help but chatter on and on about various topics to talk to Him.

"Li'an, may I take some of the plants from Soul Ruins out with me?"

"Do as you please."

"Won't this pose a biological threat to the outside world?"

"Then I won't bring it."

"But I want to study it."

"Then bring it."

"but……"

"Shut up!"

"oh."

A while later.

Do you want an apple?

"..."

“Grandmother, they’re all gone. Two of them died, but their souls didn’t stay.”

The girl blinked her big, bright eyes sweetly, her long, black hair flowing down her back without any adornment, reaching all the way to the ground.

She wasn't wearing shoes; she floated barefoot not far from the ground, as if a gust of wind could blow her away.

"Ling, stop being naughty. You can't keep doing this."

A somewhat aged voice came from behind.

She walked on the already riddled ground, leaning on her cane.

"Why not! I don't want to leave the village, I don't want to materialize and go outside! I want to stay in the village forever!"

"Listen to me, this is a trial that our clan must go through after reaching adulthood."

"Hmph! I don't like Grandma anymore!"

The old man watched his granddaughter's departing figure and shook his head helplessly.

Author's Note: I was torn between including the story of Hughton and Seral in the main story or as a side story, but considering the completeness of the story, I decided to include it in the main story.
