Chapter 33

Chapter 33

The chicken was frightened by the danger and its potential was aroused. It panicked and didn't know where to go. Xu Zhao immediately got up and chased after it.

A man and a chicken, one in front and one behind. If it runs away, he will chase it and it cannot fly away even if it has wings.

Jiang Huihan stared at the scene in amazement and couldn't help but squat on the ground, holding her stomach and laughing wildly.

"Oh, I'm dying of laughter, can you do this?!"

Xu Zhao looked embarrassed. He wiped the sweat from his forehead, stared at the chicken fluttering around in front of him, and gritted his teeth.

After a commotion, the chicken was once again strangled by fate. This time, Xu Zhao was ruthless and stabbed it again, making the chicken deader than dead.

Jiang Huihan brought out a basin of hot water and squatted on the ground with him to pluck the chicken. Thinking of the funny scene just now, the corners of her mouth could not help but rise.

"Didn't you say you could kill a chicken? How did you let the chicken run away?"

Facing Jiang Huihan's teasing, Xu Zhao's ears turned slightly red, and he said calmly, "It's inevitable that I will make mistakes when I'm unfamiliar with it."

Too much face.

Jiang Suihan didn't argue with him. After plucking the chicken feathers, Xu Zhao took out the chicken's internal organs and chopped the chicken into pieces.

There is an iron pot and a casserole at home. The chicken is blanched first, and then the washed mushrooms, corn, red dates and blanched chicken are put into the casserole and simmered over low heat.

Jiang Suihan walked out of the kitchen: "There are a lot of dishes tonight, how about asking Captain Zhang to come along? It was quite tiring for him to drive to pick us up yesterday."

Interpersonal relationships are inevitable. Zhang Xiangqian has a good relationship with Xu Zhao, and she doesn't mind giving Xu Zhao face.

Xu Zhao pushed his bicycle out and took a long step forward: "He should still be in the army. I'll go get him."

It takes a long time to stew the soup, so Jiang Suihan is not in a hurry to cook at the moment, and plans to wait until the soup is almost ready before starting.

Jiang Leyun came back with a dirty face. When he entered the door, he smelled a strong aroma of meat. Following the smell, he walked to the kitchen and saw a casserole pot bubbling with steam.

He turned around and ran to find Jiang Huihan: "Sister, do you want to eat chicken tonight?"

Jiang Suihan put down the book: "Yes, tonight we have your favorite chicken soup and chicken stewed with potatoes."

She had finally found this novel from among Xu Zhao's pile of books. His books were all professional books, and for a non-professional like her, it was like reading an incomprehensible book and she couldn't understand it.

Jiang Leyun grinned happily: "That's great."

It would be even better if we could eat meat every day.

Jiang Suihan also smiled and said, "Yes, it's very good."

Such a life was something she had never imagined before. There was no intrigue and deception as in Mingjiang City. Life here was very peaceful. She could sleep in, eat in the cafeteria if she didn't want to cook, and sit in the yard after dinner to enjoy the breeze. It was simply a dream life.

Zhang Xiangqian didn't want to go to dinner empty-handed, so he went home, washed his hands, opened the cupboard, took out five apples and put them in a bag.

Dai Jia had just returned. In the afternoon, she asked for leave an hour in advance and went back to her parents' home to tell her sister-in-law that the officer she had originally planned to introduce to her niece was already married. Her sister-in-law had a very bad look on her face at the time and spoke in a sarcastic tone, blaming her for not doing things well.

It is normal to be blamed for doing good things with bad intentions. Dai Jia was in the wrong and didn't know what to say, but the sister-in-law kept going too far and she couldn't help but retort a few words. She didn't even eat her meal and said, "If you have the ability, don't ask me to introduce you to a date again," and rode away angrily.

"Why do you have so many apples?"

She bought the apples at the supply and marketing cooperative, using the internal price, which was a little cheaper than the outside price. Her son liked them, so she bought some extra to keep at home.

Zhang Xiangqian stroked his hair and said, "Xu Zhao invited me to his house for dinner. It would be bad to go there empty-handed."

Dai Jia said calmly: "Oh."

Zhang Xiangqian looked at his wife and said, "What's wrong with you? You look unhappy. Who made you angry?

Dai Jia threw her bag on the chair and couldn't help complaining to her husband: "It's my sister-in-law. She came to me and asked me to introduce a man to her niece. Fine, I thought we were all relatives and it would be hard to refuse, so I planned to introduce Xu Zhao to her niece. Who would have thought that she would change her mind halfway and get married quietly."

"It's not my control over other people's marriages. My sister-in-law gave me a cold shoulder and complained openly and secretly that I didn't help her wholeheartedly, causing her niece to wait for so long in vain. Do you think I can be blamed for all this? I didn't know anything beforehand. No matter who asks me to help introduce someone in the future, I will never agree to it again."

After a pause, she continued, "If my sister-in-law hadn't kept begging me, praising her niece to the skies, saying that she was good-looking, had a high school education, and especially admired soldiers, so she wanted to find a soldier as her partner, I wouldn't have taken on this troublesome matter. In the end, I was like Zhu Bajie looking in the mirror - neither human inside nor outside."

The more I thought about it, the angrier I got. Her sister-in-law sometimes does things that make you hate her. When she asks you for help, her attitude is so nice that she almost treats you like her own mother. But when you can't help, her face changes immediately and she rolls her eyes to the sky.

Zhang Xiangqian frowned slightly, "Matchmaking is not an easy job to begin with. If you do well, both families will be happy. If you do poorly, both families will blame you. I think there is something wrong with you. You dare to take on such a thankless and offensive job without even thinking about whether you can do it or not."

He did not stand on his wife's side in this matter. Her sister-in-law was also at fault. Both sides should be slapped in the face and no one should blame anyone. The most innocent person in this was Xu Zhao, who was completely unaware of it.

Worried that his wife would not learn her lesson, Zhang Xiangqian could not help but repeatedly remind her: "I have to remind you that this little thing can only be discussed at home, but never tell anyone else, understand? Otherwise, it will affect the relationship between Xu Zhao and Comrade Xiao Jiang, and you will be held responsible for their quarrel."

Dai Jia said unhappily, "I know. I'm not stupid."

Originally, it was something she and her eldest sister-in-law had discussed privately, and she hadn't had time to ask Xu Zhao for his opinion. She was now extremely glad that it didn't happen. With her eldest sister-in-law's personality, her niece from her mother's side would be just so-so and would never be worthy of Xu Zhao. If it was another eldest sister-in-law, wouldn't she be harming Xu Zhao?

Xu Zhao has a good relationship with her husband. She also thinks that if there is a chance in the future, the Xu family will be able to support her husband, so she must not offend them.

After thinking for a while, Dai Jia took the cloth bag that she had thrown on the chair, took out a piece of unopened ham, took it to the kitchen, cut out a piece and wrapped it in paper: "Take this too."

Zhang Xiangqian's eyes lit up: "Where did it come from? This ham smells delicious."

Dai Jia put away the remaining half of the ham: "My mother gave it to me, you can take it to Xu's house."

She was driven away by her sister-in-law, and her mother chased after her and stuffed a piece of ham into her hand, saying that it was a specialty her uncle had bought when he went on a business trip to the south, and asked her to take it home to eat.

Jiang Suihan scooped a little soup to taste it, and felt it was a bit bland, so she asked Jiang Leyun to taste it as well.

The child smacked his lips and took another sip: "It's a little bland."

Jiang Suihan added some more salt to the soup, covered the pot, lifted the casserole and put it aside, preparing to cook.

Jiang Leyun squatted in front of the stove and lit the fire. It was too hot in the kitchen, so Jiang Suihan asked him to go out and play.

Xu Zhao rolled up his sleeves and squatted down: "Let me do it."

Jiang Leyun held the fire poker in his hand, looked at his sister, then at his brother-in-law. For some reason, he suddenly felt redundant.

Heat oil in a pan, add ginger, garlic and star anise, stir-fry the chicken first, then serve the chicken. Put the diced potatoes into the pan, stir-fry until golden brown, then pour the chicken in, add water to cover the ingredients in the pot, cover the pot and cook for fifteen minutes, finally add salt and soy sauce, and serve.

Jiang Huihan held a piece of potato with chopsticks in her right hand and motioned Xu Zhao to open his mouth.

She looked at him expectantly: "Is it delicious?"

Xu Zhao: “It’s delicious.”

After a pause, perhaps feeling that it was not sincere enough, he emphasized: "It's delicious."

Jiang Suihan's eyes curved into crescents, and the dimples on her cheeks looked particularly seductive: "You didn't lie to me?"

Xu Zhao took the chopsticks from her hand, picked up a piece of potato and handed it to her mouth.

Jiang Huihan couldn't help but look into his eyes and subconsciously opened her mouth.

Xu Zhao raised his lips and said, "Is it delicious?"

Maybe it was because she stayed in the kitchen for too long and was choked by the heat, Jiang Huihan blushed and said softly, “Yeah.”

"Hiss, I have a stye."

Zhang Xiangqian covered his eyes with one hand, and out of curiosity he stared through the cracks between his fingers at a young couple who were making love in the kitchen.

He retreated quietly, rubbed his face vigorously, with an incredible look on his face, and muttered softly: "Tsk tsk, it seems that guy has never met someone he likes before. Look at how amorous and distracted he was just now. This old house is on fire and it wishes it would burn for two days and two nights."

Jiang Leyun moved in front of Zhang Xiangqian and blinked at him: "Brother Zhang, what are you mumbling here alone? Aren't you going to look for my brother-in-law? He's in the kitchen, don't you see him?"

The child's fair and tender face makes people want to pinch it. Zhang Xiangqian thought so and did so. He pinched Jiang Leyun's little face and smiled ostentatiously, regardless of the child's resistance.

In the Xu family's yard, outside the kitchen.

"Let go."

"No."

"Let go of me now."

"I just won't let go."

"If you don't let go, I'm going to call my brother-in-law."

"You can yell if you want. I'm not afraid of him. At worst, we can just fight."

Jiang Leyun yelled towards the kitchen, "Brother-in-law! Come and save me! I'm being bullied by bad guys."

The sharp cry of a child rang in his ears. Zhang Xiangqian shuddered suddenly and couldn't help but pick his ears. He looked at his good brother's "cheap" brother-in-law in silence.

"Comrade Jiang Leyun, I almost broke my eardrums because I didn't remind you before you yelled."

Xu Zhao knew that Zhang Xiangqian had come, and also knew that he had reached the kitchen, but he hid away in the blink of an eye.

If he didn't even notice this little movement, all these years in the army would have been in vain.

I just didn't expect Zhang Xiangqian to be so childish that he would actually go and bully a seven-year-old kid. It made people feel helpless and speechless at the same time.

"It's okay, Zhang Xiangqian is here, I'll go out and take a look."

Jiang Suihan followed behind and saw Zhang Xiangqian and Jiang Leyun standing face to face. The older one had a sly smile on his face, while the younger one had his mouth puffed up, looking angry.

He could guess at a glance that it was Zhang Xiangqian who was teasing the child and the child was angry with him.

There were still two dishes left to cook, so Jiang Suihan turned back to the kitchen and continued working.

Jiang Leyun threw herself into Xu Zhao's arms like a young swallow and started to complain openly: "Brother-in-law, he was the one who bullied me."

With someone's support, the child is very confident.
