Xia Ning smiled and said, "Then he is a really good person."
Just as Zhao Duo received a call from his good friend, he immediately perked up when he heard that Zhao Qingyun had asked him for a favor. He first took care of the matter for him, and then subtly inquired about the relationship between this person and him.
Zhao Qingyun was annoyed to death by him; his cousin was always so irresponsible.
Zhao Qingyun only said, "I'll introduce you two when I have the chance."
Zhao Duo covered his mouth in surprise and whispered, "No way, is she really your girlfriend? Please, bring her home later, or Grandpa will definitely urge me to get married."
He took a sip of coffee and said, "Zhao Duo, I'm not with her yet, so you better keep your mouth shut."
Zhao Duo isn't stupid. He himself is unemployed and doesn't want to get married, so why would he rush to announce that his brother has a girlfriend?
After calming down, she continued broadcasting until the designated time. And sure enough, the comments from those netizens actually boosted the viewership of her live stream and increased the number of orders.
At 9 p.m., they finally got off work. The live-streaming task was completed, and they had no more work to do. Xu Lai planned to go for a walk around the area with Xia Ning, since it was a rare opportunity to come here.
She returned to the hotel and, while Xia Ning was taking a shower, made a phone call. It rang several times before the other end answered.
Zhao Qingyun's first words were: "Did you suffer any injustice today?"
Xu Lai was taken aback by his words, her eyes welling up with tears. She took a deep breath and said, "No, it's all thanks to you for helping me. I owe you another favor."
Zhao Qingyun was somewhat surprised: "How did you guess?"
Xu Lai joked, "After all, you're the only person around me with such great abilities."
After much deliberation, she concluded that only Zhao Qingyun would help her unconditionally, so she made the call to verify her guess.
Zhao Qingyun comforted her, saying, "Since you've decided to pursue the path of short videos, some negative impacts are inevitable. I hope you can adjust your mindset. Don't worry, I'll take care of everything."
"You trust me so much? What if what those people say is true?"
"I only trust you."
Xu Lai was a little flustered by these words and changed the subject: "Have you watered the flowers? Have you fed the dog?"
Zhao Qingyun stroked Xiao Hei and Lai Fu's chins, "Say a few barks, your mom's looking for you."
Xu Lai was a little confused. "What mother? Where did I get a child?"
He laughed and said, "Are these two dogs your son or your brother?"
Xu Yan: Who called me?
Xu Lai laughed out of the blue: "Can't you just be nothing at all?"
Zhao Qingyun turned on the speakerphone, but the dog still didn't bark. He had an idea. "How about this, let's have a video call, so you can see them."
Xu Lai nodded unconsciously, and the person on the other end urged, "Is it okay?"
She realized what was happening and said, "Okay, call me back."
The other end hung up, and a video call came in quickly. Xu Lai answered and greeted the dog on the other end: "Xiao Hei, Lai Fu, did you miss me?"
The two dogs barked twice, and the next second, Zhao Qingyun flipped the camera to face his own face. Xu Lai saw that he was wearing a white T-shirt and his hair was slightly damp, so he must have just taken a shower.
A sudden gust of wind picked up, and Xu Lai closed the window, rubbing her arms involuntarily. Zhao Qingyun noticed her movement and asked, "Are you cold?"
Xu Lai hummed in agreement: "A bit. I feel like it's going to rain tonight."
Zhao Qingyun looked up at the sky. The moon was still quite round, with a few stars dotting the side. There was no sign of rain at all.
He held his phone up to the sky and asked, "Can you see the moon? The moonlight is beautiful tonight."
Xu Lai clutched the curtains, momentarily at a loss for words. She knew the meaning behind those words, but she genuinely didn't know how to respond.
After a gust of wind, it started to drizzle. Xu Lai pointed the camera out the window and said, "The wind here isn't very gentle. Please look at the rain in Huili."
Zhao Qingyun asked with a smile, "Is it any different from what we have here?"
Xu Lai pondered for a moment, then whispered, "You're not here."
Zhao Qingyun's eyes were piercing: "I'll wait for you to come back."
Seeing that the two had finally hung up the phone, Xia Ning pretended to have just finished showering and came out drying her hair. The two had been talking for at least half an hour; she had really gone to great lengths for her sister's love life.
Xu Lai blushed, but Xia Ning didn't point it out. She just said, "I'm done washing up. You should go now."
After I finished showering, I received a few messages on WeChat. This man sent me a photo and said: "Goodnight."
She clicked on the large image, which showed Xiao Hei and Lai Fu squatting on the ground. He only showed half of his face. Xu Lai chuckled. He was really quite reserved.
The next day, the two went to Huili Ancient City. It was their first time there. The owner recommended several good restaurants to them and even had his youngest son act as their tour guide.
Xia Ning was a very outgoing person, and in no time he had gotten all of the other person's information. His name was Li Xuan, he was 18 years old, had just finished the college entrance examination, and was about to start school. He had applied to a university in the provincial capital.
Xu Lai couldn't help but laugh. It's true that being young is a good thing; she's almost ten years older than him.
When Li Xuan saw her smile, he scratched his head a little embarrassedly: "Sister Xu Lai, you must have only been working for a short time, right?"
Xu Lai pointed to herself: "Do I look like a recent college graduate?"
Li Xuan shook his head: "I feel like you've just graduated from graduate school."
Xia Ning, who was taking pictures, turned around upon hearing this and said, "Don't make yourself sound so young."
Xu Lai laughed and said, "I graduated several years ago, so I'm about ten years older than you."
The group strolled around the ancient city, stopping frequently, before Li Xuan took them to eat mutton hot pot.
Xu Lai smelled the aroma and realized she was starving. The mutton wasn't gamey at all and was tender and soft in her mouth. Although it was very hot, she couldn't help but swallow it whole.
Xu Lai felt the mutton being stir-fried again in her mouth. Li Xuan handed her water, but Xu Lai was too embarrassed to drink it directly. She whispered a thank you before taking it.
Xia Ning was recording a video of herself eating when the two of them accidentally appeared in the frame.
Back at the hotel that evening, the two packed their things. They were going to another place the next day, which was quite far from here, so they decided to cancel their room and book a hotel there instead.
Xia Ning lay in bed, edited the video, uploaded it to her account, and then posted it on her WeChat Moments.
Zhao Qingyun's phone notified him that someone he followed had updated a video. He clicked on it to watch. Xu Lai didn't appear much in the video, and Xia Ning mainly filmed food and tourist attractions.
When it was time to eat, he saw a boy sitting opposite Xu Lai and handed her water. The video then switched to the next scene.
Zhao Qingyun instantly felt a sense of crisis. Looking at the boy's appearance, he was slightly inferior to him, but he looked young, which was a major disadvantage that he couldn't overcome.
