Xia Ning continued living her life as usual and never had any contact with him again. Sometimes when she ran into him on the street, she would pretend not to see him.
She had just finished class when her mother called. "Ningning, your aunt said that her colleagues' sons are quite well-off, and she insisted that I tell you so you can go and see them."
Xia Ning pressed her pen and said, "Do other people even know about my situation? Don't be so picky later."
Xia's mother assured her, "Don't worry, others don't care about these things. I heard that he also had a girlfriend he had been dating for several years, but they broke up because her parents wouldn't let her marry someone from another place."
Xia Ning nodded, "Okay then, send me the address and time."
She didn't really want to go, but she also didn't want to offend her mother, since they hadn't said a word about her quitting her job and going home. If she went against them again, it would make them feel disheartened.
To put it bluntly, the man's situation is similar to hers, but she has already let go of Nie Yuxuan. I wonder what his attitude is towards his ex-girlfriend.
After get off work, Xia Ning received the other person's WeChat contact information. She added the contact and arranged to meet at a Western restaurant in the county on Saturday noon.
She tidied herself up a bit, borrowed Xu Lai's car, and went to the county.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, Xia Ning observed the customers and noticed that he was wearing a dark gray suit and carrying a bouquet of roses.
Xia Ning spotted her immediately and walked over. The other person stood up. "Miss Xia, is that right?"
Xia Ning nodded and asked, "Dong Hui?"
The boy nodded. "Yes, Miss Xia, please have a seat."
Both of them were slightly embarrassed, but Dong Hui broke the silence and asked, "Miss Xia, what would you like to drink?"
Xia Ning bit her lip. "Hmm, a latte will do."
The two ordered more food, intending to chat while they ate. Dong Hui asked, "I remember Miss Xia is 28 this year, right?"
Xia Ning nodded: "That's right, Mr. Dong, you..."
Dong Hui said with a smile, "I'm almost 30, so you probably know my situation. I came here for this blind date because I want to find someone to shut my parents up and stop them from pressuring me to get married."
Xia Ning put down her knife and fork, took a sip of coffee, and said, "But I believe you know that we have no feelings for each other."
Dong Hui didn't care about these things. "I just went on blind dates to appease my parents. I wasn't planning on going on blind dates, but after learning about your past, I felt that our situations were somewhat similar."
Xia Ning's lips tightened. "I don't accept that my partner has another woman in his heart."
Dong Hui got anxious and said, "But can you let go of your ex? Especially when you love each other but have to separate."
Xia Ning looked at him and said, "I've already let it go. He cheated on me first. Should I keep keeping him in my heart and treating him like royalty?"
Zhang Ye, who was at a table diagonally in front of them, had been staring at them for a long time. He gripped his fork tightly, and his friend asked, "What's wrong? Something bothering you today?"
Zhang Ye gritted his teeth and forced a smile: "It's nothing, I just saw someone I know."
While Xia Ning was still talking, Dong Hui remained silent for a long time before saying, "I can't let her go in a short time, but I can promise to live a good life with you in the future."
Xia Ning shook her head. "In that case, I won't settle. I can choose not to get married, but I will never settle for someone just to get married. We've only just met, and we're already trying to spend our lives together. Don't you think that's too hasty?"
Towards the end of the meal, Xia Ning excused herself to go to the restroom. She took a deep breath in front of the mirror. Annoyed, that was her current mood. She had no choice but to deal with it.
She touched up her makeup and went out, only to run into Zhang Ye. Xia Ning was full of surprise and was about to walk past him when he grabbed her wrist.
"What are you doing here?" Zhang Ye asked.
Xia Ning pried his hands off, saying, "It's none of your business."
Zhang Ye chuckled, "Here you are for a blind date? Are you that desperate to get married?"
Xia Ning glared at him, "Are you sick? What does my blind date have to do with you?"
Zhang Ye stroked her fingers, "Don't you know I like you?"
"So, did I agree to your request?" Xia Ning asked back.
She made a move to leave, but Zhang Ye grabbed her hand, pressed her against the wall, kissed her lips, and bit her lip. Xia Ning angrily bit him back, and a metallic taste filled their mouths.
Zhang Ye didn't let go, and Xia Ning kissed him back. The two kissed for a while before separating, panting. He pressed his forehead against hers and said, "See? You have feelings for me too."
Xia Ning wiped her lips. "I'll just pretend it was chewed by a dog."
She returned to her seat, and Dong Hui noticed that her lips were red and swollen, so he asked, "Miss Xia, what happened?"
Xia Ning interrupted, "Eat quickly, or the food will get cold."
Zhang Ye's friend also asked, "What happened to your mouth? Did someone bite it while you were in the bathroom?"
He touched his lips, smiled, and said, "A tiger."
My friend jokingly retorted, "I have two tigers too."
After that day, Xia Ning told her mother that it wasn't a good match and used that as an excuse to turn down the blind date. She wouldn't accept a marriage she didn't like; if the two of them were just living together out of convenience, she'd rather live alone and be more comfortable.
It took Zhang Ye a long time to get her to add him back, and the two kept in touch intermittently.
It was the weekend, and she packed her bags, ready to go to the hot springs. Thanks to Xu Lai, she could also enjoy herself.
When she arrived at the destination, she wandered around aimlessly and ended up at Red Wine Spring. As soon as she walked in, she saw Zhang Ye, and Xia Ning instinctively wanted to back out.
He had already turned around, saw it was her, and raised an eyebrow, "You were following me?"
Xia Ning rolled her eyes at him. "Who's following you? I came with Xu Lai, okay? You narcissist."
Zhang Ye had already taken off his clothes and gotten into the water. He asked, "Aren't you planning to come in? Are you scared?"
Xia Ning couldn't resist being provoked. She took off her bathrobe and said, "Fine, I'll get off then. Who's afraid of you? This isn't just yours."
She submerged in the water, her face flushed from the steam. Xia Ning wished she could be eight feet away from him, so that he was on the other side and she was on this side.
She squinted, warmed by the spring water, unaware that someone was getting closer and closer to her.
When she opened her eyes, he was already beside her. Xia Ning moved away a little, but he moved closer again.
Later, he put his arm around her, and the two pressed together. Zhang Ye nuzzled her nose and asked, "Can I kiss you?"
Xia Ning didn't say anything, and the two kissed passionately again, and then things got out of control.
Considering that this was a public place, Zhang Ye picked her up, wrapped her in a bath towel, and took her to the room.
The two had a wild night, and when Xia Ning woke up, an arm was still draped over her.
She was completely stunned. She remembered everything that happened last night; the two of them were clearly lost in their own world while fully conscious. Could it be that she had really fallen for him?
