Chapter 15 The Unlucky Guy is in Big Trouble!

Chapter 15 The Unlucky Guy is in Big Trouble!

Ning Jia nervously held her phone, scrolling through the messages in the owners' group chat several times. Only then did Cang Lan slowly finish her snack and drink some yogurt to soothe her throat.

"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting."

Ning Jia complained, "Clan leader, I just said this is a major event concerning the future of your clan, and you're being far too calm..."

Cang Lan smiled slightly, "If it were truly an extremely urgent matter, you wouldn't have waited until we returned to tell us."

That actually makes sense?

Ning Jia sighed, "It's not that urgent, there's still some time to adjust, but it's still not a good thing."

Aside from work, Cang Lan rarely saw such an anxious expression on Ning Jia's face, so she couldn't help but ask curiously, "Lord Ning Jia, what exactly happened?"

Ning Jia thought for a moment, then lowered her phone and turned it directly to Cang Lan, gesturing for her to look at the message.

Although Cang Lan often saw Ning Jia holding this huge iron block, this was the first time she had actually seen what was on it, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of novelty and amazement.

Ning Jia, worried that Cang Lan wouldn't understand, pointed a few times, enlarged the picture sent by the property management, and explained:

“Our community is going to undergo renovation soon. The property management has already sent the renovation plan to the group. The renovation area includes the open space to the north, the open space next to Building 2, and... the small garden where you live.”

“According to what’s on this map,” Ning Jia pointed to the plot marked “small garden,” “it seems they’re going to cut down the trees in the garden and turn it into parking spaces for the community.”

Parking space? This was another unfamiliar term to Cang Lan. "Is it for parking... vehicles like your electric scooter?"

Ning Jia nodded, "It will not only be parking spaces, but also awnings and charging stations, making it much more convenient to charge electric vehicles in the future."

Canglan listened thoughtfully, "In other words, this should be considered a good thing for you."

Ning Jia paused for a moment, "You could say that?"

"But if the little garden is gone, your home will be gone too."

"We were only staying there temporarily anyway, we can just move if it doesn't work out," He Meng chimed in, having finished eating and drinking at some point. "This city is so big, surely we can find somewhere to stay?"

Bai Su gave He Meng a look as if she were an idiot, and said speechlessly:

"The city is indeed very big, but there are also many giants. It was not easy for us to find a quiet and safe place."

Gan Cao touched her light yellow hair. "Actually, living in the park isn't bad. Ning Jia said that there aren't many people here usually."

"Yeah, why not just live in the park!"

Ning Jia also thought the idea was good, then suddenly felt that something was wrong...

"Licorice, you, you're a man?!"

Gan Cao's delicate face also showed a bewildered expression. "I... I'm a boy."

"I'm sorry, my eyesight isn't very good. I haven't heard you talk much before, so I assumed..."

Ning Jia sincerely apologized to Gan Cao.

"It's not your fault," Gan Cao said, waving her hand dismissively. "There have always been more women than men in our tribe, I'm used to it."

Seeing that everyone's eyes were on her, Gan Cao looked a little shy and said, "You guys continue chatting, I'll go over there and see if there are any bird eggs."

Before anyone else could speak, Gan Cao had already run off with his spear, making everyone laugh and lightening the atmosphere considerably.

“Actually, I also think this place is nice,” Bai Su said first. “Compared to the small garden, this place is much bigger, and the trees are growing better. If you look carefully, you can find fruit. Besides, even if there is no fruit, there are fish in the river and bird eggs in the trees. You can always find food.”

When it comes to fish, He Meng gets excited, "Let me tell you, there are so many fish here! Last time I caught a ton of them!"

Ning Jia chimed in, "Yes, there are indeed a lot of fish in this river."

As she was speaking, she suddenly felt a jolt, sensing a thin but undeniable gaze fixed on her...

"I remember now!"

He Meng looked at Ning Jia with a mournful expression and asked, "Where's the salt and pepper fish you promised?"

Ning Jia: ...

The last time they joined forces, they did catch quite a few small fish, but then the "big wind blows away the little man" incident happened, and Ning Jia forgot about it.

However, those small fish weren't wasted; before they died and started to rot, Ning Jia gave them to her neighbor to feed her turtles.

"I swear, there will definitely be salt and pepper small fish."

Ning Jia stretched out a finger and gently touched He Meng's puffed-up cheek in a conciliatory manner, "Once you settle down here, I'll definitely make you salt and pepper small fish! And cumin small fish! Spicy small fish!"

"Cumin fish?" The other two little figures also showed interest. "I really want to try it and see what it tastes like!"

Seeing that the topic was about to veer completely off course, Canglan cleared her throat:

“Everyone has a point, but we can’t judge a book by its cover. This park may seem peaceful, but there might be some dangers we don’t know about…”

As everyone nodded in agreement, a flapping sound of wings suddenly came from mid-air. Ning Jia looked up and her eyes widened in surprise:

"My God, what that bird caught looks like licorice root?!"

Everyone looked up at once, and one of the light-haired female figures exclaimed in alarm, "It's my brother! Chieftain, my brother has been captured!"

Before anyone could react, He Meng pursed her lips, grabbed a spear, and charged forward like a small cannonball.

"He Meng! Don't be impulsive!" Cang Lan called out several times, but He Meng's figure quickly disappeared.

She frowned, whispered something to Bai Su, and then instructed the other two little figures, "Shi Ying and Xue Cao, you two go with Bai Su to help, and remember not to act rashly."

"knew!"

The two little figures spoke in unison, picked up their spears, and quickly followed Bai Su into the bushes.

So the two little figures were named Quartz and Snow Grass...

Ning Jia suddenly realized what was happening, then quickly came to her senses and said to Cang Lan, "Clan Chief Cang Lan, is there anything I can help you with?"

This was just a polite remark. Ning Jia couldn't climb trees, and she wasn't very brave either. That bird had such a large wingspan; she didn't have the courage to fight such a terrifying bird of prey. And if that bird was a protected species, then there would be even less she could do anything.

Unexpectedly, Canglan said, "There is indeed something I would like to ask for your help with."

A few minutes later.

Following Cang Lan's instructions, Ning Jia laid out the picnic mat under the big tree and secretly picked a lot of grass, piling it around the area. Still feeling uneasy, she took off her coat and spread it out beside her.

Should everything be fine now?

Ning Jia looked up with difficulty, peering up at the tall tree, and could only vaguely make out the outline of the bird. As for the figures of the little people, they were completely invisible.

I wonder what the situation is now, how are Canglan and the others? This tree is so tall, what if they really fall from it?

Ning Jia was lost in thought when she suddenly heard a rustling sound from above, and then leaves began to fall from the tree. Startled, she instinctively picked up the strawberry basket beside her and moved to the left and back, going wherever the leaves were falling.

After who knows how much time had passed, Ning Jia, holding a basket full of leaves, tilted her head back so her neck was almost broken, but the little people still didn't move.

Ning Jia had witnessed firsthand the epic battles between He Meng and the stray cats, so she wasn't too worried about the little ones' safety. The most pitiful one was this tree; it was completely innocent, look at all those leaves scattered on the ground—it's been forced to shed its leaves.

Just as Ning Jia's neck was aching from waiting, another shower of leaves suddenly fell from the sky. She didn't have time to think about it; the practice had already become muscle memory. She tilted her head back, picked up the strawberry basket, and ran over in a few steps. Then everything went black, and a blurry black shadow flashed by and fell solidly into the basket.

What?! She actually caught it?!

Before Ning Jia could even feel happy, another small black shadow fell from the sky and landed in the basket. The impact of these two consecutive falls caused Ning Jia to stagger backward and almost sit on the grass.

At the same time, a large bird flapped its wings and flew away from the tree, chirping loudly.

When Canglan led Bai Su and the others down from the tree, Ning Jia had already fished out the two little figures that had fallen into the basket and carefully placed them on the picnic mat.

By then, she had figured it out: the one that fell first was Gan Cao, who had been snatched away by the large bird. The one that fell next was He Meng, who had gone to rescue Gan Cao.

He Meng lay on the grass, groggily asking for "meat floss cakes." Bai Su silently fed her some water, and she soon opened her eyes.

As for licorice... Ning Jia looked at the pale yellow-haired little man lying unconscious on the grass and was even more speechless.

She had never seen such an unlucky little person!

Poor licorice root, it was caught safely in Ningjia's basket after falling down. But just as it was about to crawl out from under the basket full of leaves, it was hit squarely by a falling hemp leaf and is still dizzy.

"Do you think He Meng is the nemesis of licorice? Otherwise, why does this kind of misunderstanding keep happening?" Ning Jia asked, puzzled.

She remembered clearly that last time, He Meng fell from a tree and knocked out the passing licorice root.

Canglan and the others laughed, finding the idea quite novel. Only Bai Su calmly reminded them, "Clan leader, let's check Gancao's injuries first."

When the unlucky licorice finally woke up under the power of the devil's grass, Ning Jia and the others' tea party was almost over.

"Chief Canglan, are you really planning to move here?" Ning Jia asked for the nth time, gesturing with her hand, "There are such huge birds of prey here."

Unable to sit still, He Meng lightly leaped and sat down next to Ning Jia's lap, examining her jeans as she said, "Compared to birds of prey, giants are much more terrifying."

Ning Jia, being a "giant," finally realized that He Meng was absolutely right.

Canglan didn't give a direct answer, only saying that she would go back and discuss it with her clansmen before deciding on her future destination. But in any case, she definitely couldn't stay in the small garden any longer and had to move out within a month.

Faced with an unknown future, even the usually composed Canglan couldn't help but show some worry, prompting the little people to say:

"Chieftain, don't worry, there's definitely a way."

"That's right! As long as we work together, we will definitely have a new home!"

...

Why does this scene inexplicably ignite?

Ning Jia, who was observing from the sidelines, was also caught up in the atmosphere. After checking the new notification in the owners' group, she reminded everyone:

"Oh right, although the renovation work hasn't officially started yet, staff might be going to the small garden to take measurements or something, so it's best for everyone to stay home as much as possible these days."

"Also, I think it's best to pack your belongings as soon as possible, so that you can move in immediately once you find a suitable place to live."

Canglan nodded. "That's exactly what I'm worried about. The clan has acquired a lot of new things recently, and I'm afraid we can't take them all with us. We'll have to pack them up properly."

"So that's what you were worried about earlier," Bai Su said quietly after a moment of silence.

Canglan smiled and stroked her chin. "Moving is a lot of trouble."

"Clan leader, don't lie to me. Why do I get the feeling you seem quite expectant?" Ning Jia thought to herself, then suddenly remembered a question she had never considered before:

"So, where do you usually live?"
