Chapter 134 Newspaper
Lin Yue and Xu Xiaodi have been learning to knit sweaters for some time. She has a talent for making clothes and learns quickly. During this period, she often knits sweaters with Xu Xiaodi.
She had knitted a small vest for Little Mushroom a few days ago, and he was wearing it. He was wearing a small white shirt underneath, and with the small vest, he looked like a little gentleman.
Little Mushroom is curious about everything. He was very excited when he saw the ball of yarn. He rolled it around on the ground like a little cat. The ball of yarn rolled to Wang Tingting's feet. Wang Tingting teased him and kicked it back gently.
Wang Tingting started learning to knit sweaters yesterday. Ever since she saw the mushroom-shaped sweater, she insisted on asking Xu Xiaodi to take her as a dumb "apprentice". But she was really dumb and didn't know how to use force. Even a knitting needle as thick as a chopstick could make her palms and wrists red and swollen.
Lin Yue felt sorry for her and advised, "Why don't you stop weaving for a few days and heal the wound on your hand first!"
Wang Tingting shook her head, a streak of red running down her face. "Gu Qingping will be back soon, and I want to knit him a waistcoat. He will definitely... " She realized what she had said and stopped talking.
Xu Xiaodi looked over and wanted to say something but held it back. A novice like Wang Tingting couldn't even weave a complete piece of clothing without practicing for a month or two. At her current rate, she would never be able to weave a waistcoat before Director Gu came back.
As for Lin Yue, there are very few people who can learn as quickly as she does.
Seeing her longing look, Xu Xiaodi knew that she was thinking about her family head Gu, and couldn't help asking: "Then why don't you go home with head Gu? You can also take a leave!"
A trace of sadness flashed across Wang Tingting's face, and she forced a smile and said, "I don't get along with his family."
Xu Xiaodi still didn't understand. When she was about to ask again, Lin Yue pulled her sleeve. Lin Yue winked at her, signaling her not to ask any more questions.
Director Gu's parents and relatives are all in the capital. With him, there are three soldiers in the family, which makes them a well-known family even in the capital. Originally, Director Gu's mother did not like Wang Tingting, thinking that she was not educated enough and her profession was not suitable for taking care of children at home. In fact, the family backgrounds of the two families are quite similar, otherwise the two would not have married.
Seeing the two people being so cautious, Wang Tingting smiled and said, "Hey, what are you doing? It's just a small matter, not a big deal! Let's continue knitting sweaters!"
Then he turned to Lin Yue and said, "Hey, why don't you do the same as me and knit a waistcoat for Zhang Yuandong? It's just right for me to learn the style."
The popular waistcoats are mostly worn by intellectuals. As a child, Director Gu grew up in a family with a Confucian temperament, so he would look good in a waistcoat. However, Zhang Yuandong has strong facial lines and a rough appearance, but he doesn't have the air of a scholar at all. Lin Yue imagined Zhang Yuandong wearing a waistcoat in his mind, and couldn't help laughing. He waved his hands repeatedly: "No, no, no, my son can't wear a waistcoat. I'd better knit him a sweater."
Zhang Yuandong, who was mentioned by several people, was now in the office of Commander Xu, sweating anxiously. He held a sheet of information about the M16 automatic rifle in his hand and read out in broken English: "Oil, curse him to death, no no, no reveal, smack~ ah father, thief, fuck father's legs... (you must follow all of these safety...)"
He originally thought that Master Xu just wanted him to translate, which he could do with some difficulty, but he didn't expect that he would actually ask him to read it aloud, saying that he wanted to hear how this "bird language" was spoken. He also wanted to know how this "bird language" was spoken, why was it so difficult to read!
Commander Xu, Political Commissar Yu, and Chief of Staff Zhang were all in the office. When they saw him pause, they all applauded and praised him for his good reading. Zhang Yuandong only read a short paragraph, and his forehead was full of sweat. He really didn't expect that his poor English would be praised one day.
Teacher Xu knocked on the table and said with a smile: "Xiao Zhang, you have learned English well by yourself. Few of our teachers can speak English. You see, we got the American materials, but no one can understand them, and they are of no use. You have to lead to learn English in the future for everyone!"
Zhang Yuandong said weakly: "Master... It's not that I don't want to teach, but I'm only a mediocre person myself, how can I teach others! Besides, the training has been intense recently..."
Political Commissar Yu disagreed: "I think your English is very good! Don't worry if you don't have time, you can use your rest time to study. There is so much time in the evening, you can use it to improve! Young people should learn more!"
After the decision was announced, it was quickly responded to. It wasn't that everyone was so eager to learn, but that they were all very interested in the English language and wanted to join in the fun. In the evening, Lin Yue found that many military officers had come to her house, all gathered around Zhang Yuandong and listened carefully. Zhang Yuandong explained to everyone with full righteousness: "This word is pronounced 'ah', and 'ah' means 'I'. 'You' is pronounced as 'you', and 'he' is 'hey'."
A group of people laughed, "This is easy, just 'Ah and Hey', hahaha!" Lin Yue almost spit out the water in his mouth.
These people continued to make a fuss: "What did 'Dad' say? Read it to me and I'll teach my little bastard a lesson when I get home."
Zhang Yuandong was really not very good at this. He took out an English dictionary, looked it up, and slowly read out: "Fa De'er, my father is Fa De'er."
The children were very excited to see so many people at home. They ran around the house and would occasionally stick their heads out to join in the fun. Seeing how lively they were, Lingling and Wanli also clapped their hands: "Good luck, good luck!"
A group of senior men were delighted when they heard this and responded loudly: "Hey!"
Lin Yue was speechless. These two children had never learned English. They were passively enlightened in such an environment all day long. They could forget about English classes in the future. Even so, Lin Yue couldn't help wanting to laugh. She turned her head away, her face flushed.
When Zhang Yuandong saw Lin Yue like this, he knew that there must be something wrong with what he read, and his face suddenly felt hot.
Lu Zhiguo squinted his eyes at him and asked with a playful smile: "What about 'my wife'? What is 'ah'?"
Zhang Yuandong knew this. He turned to that page, pointed to a word and read: "Wa-fu, daughter-in-law is wife, it is this word, 'Wa-fu'. 'My daughter-in-law' is 'Ah Wa-fu'. Oh, no, it should be 'Ma Ai Wa-fu'."
The crowd burst into laughter: "Oh my god, what is that American language? 'Maa...
Lin Yue and Zhang Yuandong didn't live together for long. Although she tutored him in English for a while, it was no more than 20 days in total. Zhang Yuandong relied on self-study. He could guess the meaning of many English materials, but he couldn't understand them when it came to daily language. Lin Yue was really worried about this group of people. Letting such a half-baked teacher teach them, who knows what kind of teaching will come out in the future.
After finally sending this group of people away, Zhang Yuandong felt as if he had lost all his strength and felt more tired than training.
He knew that his English was poor. At night, he hugged his wife, buried his head in Lin Yue's shoulder, and said a little embarrassedly: "How about you correct my pronunciation? I can't even listen to what I'm saying. Teacher Xu is really asking me to teach English. Isn't this just asking for trouble?"
Lin Yue laughed, her whole body trembling. Zhang Yuandong was a little worried and squeezed her waist hard. Lin Yue finally stopped laughing, touched her hair soothingly, and coaxed: "Okay, okay, I really didn't mean to laugh at you, I apologize. But I think it's best not to correct your spoken English, it's good like this, I'm afraid you will be taken away for investigation if you speak too well."
Zhang Yuandong tensed up and nodded helplessly. How could he not know this, he just didn't want to embarrass himself in front of his wife.
"But you'd better not teach them at home. These two children are learning things at the fastest rate. I'm afraid they won't be able to change in the future."
Lin Yue's worry was not without reason. Nowadays, people in China attach more and more importance to English. I heard that schools outside the military area start learning English from junior high school. The child is still so young. If he is led astray, it will be difficult to correct it in the future.
The next day, Zhang Yuandong applied to his leader to use the empty room next to Lu Zhiguo's house as a teaching location. Later, it was very lively every night. However, it didn't last long. After the curiosity of the group of officers faded, Zhang Yuandong's teaching classroom gradually became deserted.
When he mentioned this to his teacher, Teacher Xu thought about it for a moment and said, "This is all for the purpose of letting everyone learn more knowledge. It's all voluntary. Since they are not active, we can't force them! If someone asks you for advice in the future, you can teach them. There's no need to force them to learn!"
Zhang Yuandong breathed a sigh of relief and quickly agreed.
Wang Tingting was slow to learn knitting sweaters, but she made up for her shortcomings with diligence. During this period, her eyes were red from working so hard that she finally knitted a sweater that was barely acceptable the day before Gu Qingping came back. However, she was already very satisfied. Knowing that Gu Qingping was coming back, she dressed up the next day and wore her favorite skirt. Anyone who saw her knew how much she was looking forward to her man's return.
But on the night Gu Qingping returned, the two still had a fierce quarrel.
Lin Yue was at home, listening to the quarrels and the rubbing of tables and chairs next door. He was very worried about the two of them. He wanted to go out several times to check on them, but he held back. In many cases, other people cannot interfere in the affairs between husband and wife. However, Lin Yue still kept an eye on the movements next door, fearing that the two of them would get angry and start fighting again.
Fortunately, the quarrel between the two soon subsided, and the next day, Director Gu wore the waistcoat woven by Wang Tingting. Although Wang Tingting's craftsmanship was not very good, Director Gu had a good appearance and temperament, so the dress was not ugly.
Lin Yue met Wang Tingting in the morning and found that she was fine and in a good mood, so he felt relieved.
She really couldn't understand these two people. It's not true that they had no feelings for each other. But the frequency of their quarrels was too high, and they seemed to be always competing with each other, always wanting the other to bow down for them.
She didn't ask about the quarrel the two had yesterday. The couple was doing fine right now, and she didn't want to cause trouble for them.
Lin Yue went out early today, and not only met Wang Tingting and her husband, but also met Lu Zhiguo who was about to go out.
When Lu Zhiguo saw Lin Yue, he smiled and said, "Sister-in-law, what a coincidence. I was thinking of looking for you at noon."
Lin Yue smiled and said, "I've been with your wife a lot these days. If there's anything, just let her tell me. There's no need for you to go out of your way to find me!"
Lu Zhiguo rubbed his hands and laughed, "Actually, there's nothing else to say. My wife has been craving for seafood lately, but we can't buy any fresh seafood here. I heard that you have dried food, so I wanted to buy some from you! My wife is shy, and she's afraid that you think she's too greedy, so she's embarrassed to ask you for it!"
"Hey, what do I think? This is it. What's there to be embarrassed about? Everyone comes here like this when they are pregnant! I still have some from my hometown last time. Wait, I'll get it for you first!" Lin Yue turned around and saw Wang Tingting's envious and disappointed look. She understood something in her heart. However, in front of Lu Zhiguo, she didn't say much. She just said hello and went back into the house.
She took two brown paper bags from the house, one of which contained five or six large shrimps and the other contained shredded squid. She handed the bags to Lu Zhiguo and said with a smile, "I don't have much left at home, but I received a letter from my hometown a while ago saying that they sent another mail. It should arrive in a few days. Take these first. If you want more, I'll give them to you when the package arrives in a few days!"
What she said was not a lie. She had indeed just received a letter from her hometown. Last time, Lin Yue sent a lot of things to her hometown. This month, they wrote to her again saying that they had sent her a package. Because it was ordinary mail, it arrived much later than the letter. However, there was probably no seafood in it. Instead, the twin brothers specifically told her in the letter that they had sent her salted eggs and asked her to pick them up early when the mail arrived.
Lu Zhiguo took the brown paper bag, put on a smile on his face, and said loudly to Lin Yue: "Sister-in-law, wait for me for a while, I will go home and get the money for you!"
Lin Yue couldn't stop him and could only wait there. Not long after, Lu Zhiguo came out of the house with two yuan and a fish ticket in his hand. He said to Lin Yue: "Sister-in-law, I don't have any seafood tickets, so I'll give you the fish ticket!"
Lin Yue took the fish ticket from his hand and said with a smile: "We don't have any seafood here, and I have nowhere to spend the seafood ticket you gave me. It just so happens that I need to go to the market to buy fish, so I just need this fish ticket. This little thing doesn't cost much anyway!"
Lu Zhiguo was a little embarrassed, but thinking of the frequent visits between the two families, he nodded and agreed with a smile, "Okay, your two children love to drink that milk tea, and I happen to have a lot of tea leaves at home, all of which are homemade. I'll send it to you tonight!"
Lin Yue didn't refuse, but nodded in agreement with a smile.
What she said about not having much dried goods at home was true. Lin Yue came back from the vegetable market and went to the space again.
The military area is located in an inland city, and fresh seafood is hard to find. The people here are still suffering from a serious shortage of seafood. Lin Yue has seen farmers in nearby villages suffering from goiter more than once. Fortunately, there is a sea in her space, and she often makes dried shrimps and squids for her children as snacks.
Of course, with Lin Yue's sea-catching skills, she couldn't possibly catch so many seafood by herself, but fortunately she had absolute control over the creatures in the space and could manipulate them to swim to the cages on the shore. However, each time she would consume a lot of her energy, and the space would be closed for a while.
She was planning to send some things back to her hometown in the near future. Although Xiaotian Village was close to the sea, some seafood was not easily available. This time, she planned to make more dried shrimps, squid shreds, and dried small fish. She took a large earthen cage and placed it in a deep water area near the rocky beach.
She was not afraid of not having enough resources in the sea. The flow rate in her space was fast, and the resources in the sea were extremely abundant in the 1960s. She had collected a lot of them into her space at that time.
She thought about it, stopped what she was doing, went to the mountain to catch a rabbit before returning to the beach. Not long after, she was bounced out of the space as expected.
Lin Yue felt a little exhausted at this moment. The fat rabbit in her hand was still jumping vigorously. The rabbit was out of the space and would no longer be affected by her. Lin Yue didn't hold it firmly and almost dropped the rabbit, letting it run away.
She quickly found a large bamboo basket, put the rabbit upside down in the basket, and placed a stool on top to prevent it from escaping.
When the two children came back at noon, they saw Little Mushroom teasing a fat gray rabbit. They cheered happily, took the big rabbit out of the bamboo basket, and touched it happily left and right.
This rabbit was originally meant to improve the children's diet. She rarely cooked meat dishes recently, and the two children had asked for it several times. Seeing that the two liked the rabbit so much, Lin Yue thought, it's over, the rabbit meat will be soaked in soup tonight.
Unexpectedly, after the two children had finished tasting the rabbit, they looked at Lin Yue expectantly and said, "Mom, are we going to eat this rabbit tonight? Can we make that big plate of fresh rabbit?"
The two were talking about the freshly cooked rabbit, which Lin Yue often cooked for them when she was in her hometown. She readily agreed. Originally, the rabbit was to improve the children's diet. As for her and Zhang Yuandong, they could occasionally go to the space for a midnight snack.
The two children cheered happily, and without even bothering to eat, they pushed their father to go and deal with the rabbit.
The winter of 1966 came very early. After the beginning of winter in early November, the temperature dropped several degrees. The climate in the city where the military region was located was different from that in my hometown, and the weather got cold very quickly. Lin Yue had just knitted a sweater for everyone a few days ago, but now everyone had to wear cotton pants.
The two children grow fast, and a piece of clothing often becomes too small after one season. Lin Yue bought a lot of fabric last time, so she made clothes for the children in larger sizes, saving a lot of fabric at the bottom of the pants. Next year, she will let the bottom of the pants down, fill them with cotton, and they can continue to wear them. When the children are growing up, people make clothes like this. No matter spring, summer, autumn or winter, you can see that many children have a section of their sleeves or pants legs that is particularly dark in color.
Lin Yue has four children, so making winter clothes for them is a big project. Fortunately, all the clothes in the army have changed to new styles this year, so there is no rush to make Zhang Yuandong's clothes.
When Zhang Yuandong came back at noon, he looked a little serious. Lin Yue thought something serious had happened, and then he handed him a newspaper.
Lin Yue had a bad feeling in her heart, picked up the newspaper and flipped through it, and saw an article on the front page that reviewed a historical drama. Lin Yue's habitual thinking made her think that this was just a film review, but being published on the front page must have a different meaning. She read the whole article, and the more she read, the more shocked she became.
Lin Yue didn't expect that a historical drama could be linked to an important meeting. She didn't know much about politics, but she could clearly see the problems.
She looked up at Zhang Yuandong, who nodded. "This article was first published in Hai City. There were some debates at first, but now it has become a trend, and all major newspapers and magazines have reprinted it."
Lin Yue was silent for a moment. She didn't know much about this period of history, only a few words in the textbooks. She didn't expect that there were signs so early.
"Let's clean up the house today. Put away the two children's picture books, strange stories, and all the decorative and unusual things in the house. Don't read them for a while." Lin Yue thought and spoke, "Also, we have to remind the two children to be careful about what they say outside in the future. There is no harm in being careful."
Zhang Yuandong saw her solemn expression, and his heart could not help but become even heavier. However, the two of them did not dwell on this matter for long. After all, they were just ordinary citizens, and they could not control anything. It was useless to think too much now.
Lin Yue still had the needle and thread in her hand, thinking to herself that she was lucky to have known about it early. The clothes for the children couldn't be made too out of the ordinary. She didn't know much about this period of history, but she had watched several related movies in her previous life and knew that it was best not to attract any attention during this period.
This matter fermented very quickly. Lin Yue now had to stare at the newspaper every day. The weather was getting cooler, but she was always very hot and had a sense of urgency in her heart. Even if Zhang Yuandong asked his comrades who went out to purchase to buy back the stove and coal, she didn't feel much joy.
But several children were very happy, especially Lingling and Wanli. There was already a foreign stove in their kindergarten, and the teacher would arrange different people to use the stove every day. However, those were things for older children, and the teacher didn't dare to use it for children as young as them.
Now that there is a foreign stove at home, Lingling and Wanli asked their mother for the job of lighting the stove. Lin Yue agreed because he thought that she would usually be at home.
The chimney of the stove was very long and had a corner. Zhang Yuandong was afraid of causing a fire, so he installed the stove inside the bedroom away from the bed. He opened a hole in the window to plug in the chimney.
Little Sisi has reached the age where she can crawl around, but the clothes she wears are too bulky, which affects her performance. She is very curious about the new furniture in the room. She crawls to the bed and stretches out her hand to touch the long chimney. Lin Yue sees this and quickly picks the child up, thinking that he must keep an eye on her in the future, otherwise it will not be fun if she gets burned by the stove.
She told the children not to chase and fight in the bedroom, and to stay away from the stove as much as possible to avoid being burned. Lingling and Wanli are sensible now, they know the seriousness of the situation, so there is no need to worry too much. Little Sisi is young, so she will be fine as long as she is taken care of. The one who needs the most attention is Little Mushroom, who is now at the age of running around everywhere and likes to hide in a small corner. If you are not careful, you will lose him.
Lin Yue was afraid that he was too curious, so he not only warned him several times, but also asked Ling Ling and Wan Li to keep an eye on him. If they found him touching the stove, they would hit his palm.
In the next few days, Little Mushroom was slapped on the palms many times. At first, he would go to Lin Yue to complain with tears in his eyes. Later, when he saw that his mother did not stand on his side, he finally gave up and dared not touch the stove or chimney again.
It was cold in winter, and even with a stove, the house was still very cold. Lin Yue missed the time in the countryside, when she only needed to add a fire to the stove to warm up the whole room. She took apart the old quilt and replaced it with new cotton, which would at least keep her warmer.
Lingling and Wanli had just adapted to sleeping on their own, but when winter came, they returned to their parents' big bed. The bed in Lin Yue's bedroom was 1.8 meters wide, and it was really crowded for a family of six. Zhang Yuandong moved a small bed from the room where the two children lived and spliced it with the big bed, so that they could sleep well.
On Lingling and Wanli's birthday, Lin Yue and Zhang Yuandong did not invite other guests, but many of the two children's friends came. Lingling had been pestering Lin Yue for several days, wanting to drink milk tea and eat cake on her birthday. Lin Yue couldn't persuade her, so he got up early in the morning to make it for the children.
The two children had told her that many friends would come today, so Lin Yue folded a lot of small basket-shaped paper cups with kraft paper to make the cake into a cupcake for the convenience of the children. Because there was no food coloring, Lin Yue picked a lot of strawberries from the space and made strawberry jam to spread on the cake, which looked pretty good.
The children in the compound had eaten egg cakes before, but they had never eaten egg cakes with cream and sweet sauce. Children especially love beauty. When they saw such a beautiful and delicious cake for the first time, they were reluctant to eat it. It was not until Lin Yue said that she had made a lot of it that they ate it with care. The children were very satisfied with the cakes and milk tea. As for the table full of food made by Lin Yue, it was not so attractive.
The house was bustling, and Lin Yue didn't close the door. The children's chattering could be heard from far away. Fortunately, it was dinner time, so there was no need to worry about disturbing others' rest.
Lin Yue saw someone standing outside the door, so she went out to see who was there. She saw Zhang Jian hiding behind the door, secretly looking into the house. He didn't expect Lin Yue to suddenly come out, and he was so scared that he trembled all over and was about to run away. Lin Yue grabbed the child and said with a smile: "Why are you running? Do you want to find Lingling and Wanli? Why don't you go in?"
Zhang Jian lowered his head and said stubbornly, "Why should I go in? They didn't invite me."
Lin Yue laughed. It was difficult for her to make a decision for the two children, so she said to him, "Then you wait here for a while. I'll go in and ask them and bring you some cake. Okay?"
Zhang Jian raised his head stubbornly and nodded slightly. Lin Yue thought it was funny and did not get angry with a child. He went into the house to call Lingling and Wanli.
When they came out of the house, Zhang Jian had already disappeared. Ling Ling was very sharp-eyed and saw him hiding behind the staircase entrance, and shouted: "Zhang Jian, come back to me!"
As soon as Zhang Jian heard Ling Ling calling him, he ran away. Ling Ling immediately ran after him, running as fast as the wind.
Lin Yue asked Wan Li: "Are they still so at odds with each other? Why do I feel like their relationship seems to be getting better?"
Wanli lowered his head to eat the cake in his hand, and took the time to say to his mother: "Well, it's okay. Zhang Jian is not as bullying as before, but he likes to go against Lingling."
Lin Yue laughed, and suddenly remembered that today was the birthday of the two children, and Liu Erya didn't come. She took advantage of Lingling not coming back yet and asked: "Why didn't I see Liu Erya today? How is her relationship with Lingling recently?"
When Wanli heard his mother finally asked this, he immediately perked up. He waved to his mother and whispered in Lin Yue's ear: "Report to the commander, Lingling and Erya don't play together anymore!"
Lin Yue was quite surprised. The last time she asked about this, Wanli said that Lingling often went to see Erya. She didn't expect that after not paying attention for a while, the two of them no longer played together.
"When did this happen?"
Wanli thought for a moment and said, "It seemed to be last week. Originally, Lingling often went to play with Erya, but after a while, Erya was no longer willing to play with Lingling. I even saw them quarreling. It was a very fierce quarrel. Lingling even told me that Erya would no longer be her good friend."
Lin Yue nodded in understanding. Erya played with Lingling originally for her delicious food. Now Lingling was without snacks and Erya still had to work at home, so naturally she didn't want to waste time dealing with Lingling.
She actually didn't like the little girl Arya. She was so calculating at such a young age. Even if there were excuses, she just couldn't like her.
While they were talking, Lingling had already come back, holding Zhang Jian's arm. She pushed Zhang Jian into the house, put her hands on her hips and said, "Am I such a stingy person? Come in!"
Lin Yue smiled, took Wanli's hand and walked in.
The two children had a happy birthday and received many gifts. Lin Yue looked at them and found that they were all birthday postcards and small toys. There was nothing valuable, so she was relieved. However, she didn't expect that Zhang Jian, who looked awkward, also gave a gift. It was a gauze bag, which was sewn into a square shape with small scraps of cloth and filled with sand. The way to play was the same as shuttlecock.
Lin Yue and Zhang Yuandong also prepared gifts for the two children, two wooden carts that Lin Yue drew and Zhang Yuandong made. Zhang Yuandong naturally didn't have the ability to make a cart without any tools, so he took it to the furniture factory in the army and worked for several nights to make it.
The cart that Lin Yue drew is not the kind of cart used in rural areas. Instead, it is a bit like a wheelchair. Two children sit on it, and there is a handle at the back for people to push from behind. The two children's feet can also touch the ground, and they can slide on the ground with a little effort.
After all, this was the first car in their lives. Although it was simply made and there was nothing particularly new about it, the two children still loved it very much. The next morning, before Zhang Yuandong got up, Lingling and Wanli couldn't sleep. They woke up Zhang Yuandong, who was still in bed, and insisted that he take the two carts downstairs immediately.
Zhang Yuandong got up helplessly, waited for the two children to put on thick clothes by themselves, and went downstairs carrying a small stroller in one hand.
Zhang Yuandong did not go for a run in the morning. He was afraid that the two children would bump into each other, so he stayed downstairs. When Lin Yue finished making breakfast, he peeked out of the kitchen to call them up to eat. He found that many children had gathered downstairs. They stared at the stroller of the two siblings with greedy eyes and did not even care when their parents called them home for dinner.
Lingling and Wanli showed off enough before finally going upstairs with their father. But when it was time to go to kindergarten, they insisted on riding in a cart. Lin Yue discussed with them for a long time but to no avail. Thinking that the road to the kindergarten was always a cement road, he had to agree reluctantly, but still warned: "The cart is yours, you have to protect it. If it is damaged, you will be responsible for it. Can you do it?"
The two siblings nodded quickly, fearing that Lin Yue would regret it if they were a second late.
In the evening, Lingling and Wanli still hadn't come back. Usually, if Zhang Yuandong got off work early, he would pick them up from school, but today none of them came back. Lin Yue was getting anxious waiting at home, so he picked up Sisi and took Xiao Mushroom out with him.
She was almost at the kindergarten when she saw the father and his two children on a path. Both strollers were lying on the ground. Lingling, a child who rarely cried, was wiping away tears at this moment, while Wanli lowered his head and looked listless.
Standing with them were Sun Xiuli and her two twin sons. She hid the two children behind her and was talking to Zhang Yuandong, looking righteous. Zhang Yuandong frowned, looking impatient.
Lin Yue walked towards them while listening to Sun Xiuli's words. Not surprisingly, the children had a conflict over the stroller.
Lin Yue walked over and said with a fake smile: "Auntie Sun, what's wrong? Why are you so angry?"
Sun Xiuli was interrupted and felt very unhappy, especially when she heard the voice of "Auntie Sun", her face turned black. As soon as she heard it, she knew it was Lin Yue, and she turned around and glared at him.
Lin Yue pretended to be shocked, patted his chest and said, "Auntie, what are you doing? Did I do something wrong?"
Sun Xiuli was so angry that her chest heaved up and down. She ignored Lin Yue and said, "Anyway, this has nothing to do with my son!" Then she was about to leave with her two children.
The twins hid behind Sun Xiuli, and one of them stuck out his tongue and made faces at Lingling and Wanli. Lingling saw this and cried even louder.
Lin Yue quickly blocked Sun Xiuli's way and frowned, saying, "Auntie, it's not good for you to leave like this. My child is crying so hard, how can you just leave like that? We should at least make things clear, right?"
"What is there to say? It was your two kids who were blocking the road. Our Maomao and Fengfeng were having a fuss and accidentally knocked down your car. I've already told you that the kids didn't mean it. You're adults now, do you still have to argue with them?" Sun Xiuli loves her twins so much that she becomes particularly irritable when it comes to matters involving her two children.
"No, mother, they wanted to steal our car, and we refused. So they deliberately put stones on the road and pushed our car from behind, pushing us onto the stones. Then the car flipped over, and my arm was injured." Lingling still had tears on her face, and she raised her arm to show Lin Yue.
Lin Yue was angry inside, but he said with a fake smile: "Your two children are quite smart. They knew to put stones on the road so that the car would easily flip over. It seems that they do this kind of thing frequently!"
Sun Xiuli scolded, "Don't accuse me. My son would never do such a thing. It sounds like your girl is making up stories to slander my son!"
Zhang Yuandong said calmly, "Since it doesn't make sense, then let's not talk about it. I'll go to your house tonight to visit Mr. Zhou and learn some parenting tips from him."
"You, don't use this to threaten me! If you say my child pushed you down, you have to produce evidence. Otherwise, how can you conclude that it was us based on your child's words?"
Lin Yue smiled and said, "Don't worry, auntie. If there is anything, we can talk about it slowly. You are right. We can't just listen to our child's one-sided words. We have to ask your two children as well."
As she spoke, she looked at the two brothers and said, "Alas, Lingling and Wanli also did something wrong. If you had played together from the beginning, this wouldn't have happened, right?"
Sun Xiuli thought that Lin Yue was afraid of her identity, and her frown relaxed a little. The two twins looked at each other, not knowing what Lin Yue meant, and neither of them said a word.
Lin Yue continued, "But you two are really smart. They didn't know that the car would fall down when it hit a rock. How did you know that? You must be well-informed and have seen such cars before, right?"
Zhou Zhenmao couldn't help but say, "What's the point of your car? Chacha has a real bicycle that's much more fun than this one, and it has three wheels. But I can still make him fall flat on his face with the stone I just threw, and he won't even know how he fell!"
Lin Yue smiled, stood up and shrugged at Sun Xiuli.
Sun Xiuli didn't expect that she could get the truth out of her with just two sentences. Her two sons usually seemed very smart, so how could they be so stupid now!
Lin Yue said calmly: "Now that your child has admitted it, can you apologize?"
Sun Xiuli wanted to argue something, but she heard Lin Yue continue to ask: "Check, oh, is it the child of Teacher Zhou's eldest son?"
Sun Xiuli's heart skipped a beat, and she couldn't say anything. She slapped the two children on the back and said angrily, "You caused this trouble yourself, so go and apologize!"
Seeing that their mother was really angry, the twins immediately became obedient, lowered their heads and whispered "I'm sorry."
Lin Yue put one hand behind his ear and asked loudly, "What are you talking about? Why can't I hear you?"
Seeing that their mother was about to get angry again, the two brothers quickly said loudly, "I'm sorry, we shouldn't have pushed your car over. We were wrong!"
Lin Yue nodded in satisfaction and said with a smile: "Well, that's quite a good way to put it!"
Sun Xiuli glared at Lin Yue fiercely and said, "Then can we leave now?"
"Who said you can leave? Both of my children are injured. You don't think that just asking them to apologize will be enough, do you?"
The person who spoke was Zhang Yuandong. Sun Xiuli looked at Lin Yue angrily, "You don't keep your word?"
"Auntie, please don't wrongly accuse me. I didn't say anything about this in the first place. I just apologized and that was it! My child is injured, we have to go to the hospital, right?"
