Chapter 7

Chapter 7

After Lu Wei had eaten and drunk his fill, he lay contentedly on the mat. Seeing Qiao Ye sitting blankly in the distance, he felt a little cold and wanted to get closer to Qiao Ye.

Ruwei generously said, "I'm already full, now you can eat too, and you can sleep in my bed with me."

The floor of the room was cool, and sleeping on the mat was indeed a good choice. He didn't intend to make himself uncomfortable by sharing a mattress with Ruwei.

"Aren't you going to eat?" Ruwei asked.

Joe shook his head. He envied Ruwei's carefree nature, which allowed him to have no psychological trauma after the massacre. He had been tense all day, and now that he had suddenly relaxed, he felt a sense of unreality, as if he had survived a catastrophe.

After witnessing those gruesome scenes, Joe lost his appetite for a short time. Just thinking about any scene from that hot pot restaurant made him want to vomit.

Lu Wei was probably exhausted from all the commotion. He leaned against Qiao Ye and quickly fell asleep, even snoring softly.

Joe sighed, shifted Ruwei's sleeping position to give himself enough space to lie down, and slowly closed his eyes. He was also very tired today.

He had only been asleep for a short while when he was awakened by a nightmare. In his dream, he was gripped by large pincers, dragged out of the cage, and pressed against a wooden stake stained black with blood...

Then he sat up in shock, covered in sweat.

His nightmare was so loud that it woke up Ruwei. Ruwei got up and urinated in a box that looked like it was filled with sand. The sand sank in and absorbed the filth, and there was no odor at all, which was very convenient.

Joe has recovered from his nightmare and is now the pet of the apex predator in this world's food chain; he is safe.

Fortunately, I didn't have any more nightmares in the second half of the night and slept well. However, when I woke up the next morning, it was drizzling outside.

Ruwei was still asleep, and Joe got up, examined the door of the room, and found that he couldn't open it, and the windows were also tightly closed.

He could only look out the window at the distant scenery.

Outside the window was a large garden, filled with unfamiliar plants that grew lushly, blooming with flowers of various colors, and the lawn was neatly trimmed.

Looking at Lu Wei, who was still sleeping, seemingly without any life pressure, eating, drinking, sleeping, and taking a stroll every day, he realized that this was the kind of life he had envied as a former corporate slave.

Now that he's going to live that kind of life, he doesn't know whether to be happy or speechless.

Joe patted his head, sighing inwardly at how much he had overthought things. This was already the best outcome; if he were still wandering outside, he would surely be soaked to the bone in this weather.

Now I don't have to worry about survival, and I don't have to face the wind and sun. How wonderful!

Thinking this way, Qiao felt satisfied.

As soon as he relaxed, he felt hungry. Looking at the dry food on the feeder, Qiao encouraged himself: "Since I'm going to be a pet, I shouldn't be pretentious. Filling my stomach is more important than dignity."

Qiao also reached out and took a piece of dry food that looked like a biscuit, put it in her mouth and took a bite. It was salty, which was okay, but the texture was too awful. Qiao finished eating it with a frown.

After a while, the robot Ling Yu came and opened the door. Seeing that Lu Wei was still asleep, he called out, "Little darling, wake up!"

Ling Yu patted Qiao Ye's head as he ate, "Good boy!"

Joe also clearly heard him call out the name "Luwei," and the pronunciation was indeed "Luwei." However, Joe also suspected that the name might have a different meaning.

Is there a chance I could learn the Cohen language?

Ling Yu tidied up the pet room, woke up Lu Wei, and after the rain stopped, he took the leash and led them around the manor.

The estate was large, and the villa had three floors, but in Qiao Ye's view, the villa was extremely large.

Inside, there are gardens, pavilions, rockeries, swimming pools, and a huge field that looks like a shooting range.

After walking for a long time, Joe didn't have a watch or anything like that, so he had no concept of time and just felt like his legs were about to give way.

He wanted to express his desire to be free to move around, but the robot was too loyal and insisted on leading them around.

When it was finally over, back in her small room, Joe didn't care about her image and plopped down on the cushion.

Ruwei looked miserable and muttered, "It's so boring, not fun at all. I think my owner would definitely give me all kinds of delicious food, bring me toys, and play ball with me."

Joe also asked, "Is your master the one with red hair?"

Ruwei said, "Yes, it's the one you saw last time."

When the topic of owners came up, Ruwei asked curiously, "Do you want to be this golden-haired Cohen's pet?"

Joe also said, "I don't know, maybe."

Ruwei was very worried: "I don't think he's a good person. What if he eats you? I've heard that many Cohen people raise us Aborigines and then kill and eat us when we grow up."

Qiao Ye: "..."

Lu Wei patted his fellow countryman on the shoulder and said sympathetically, "Why don't you behave yourself and make that golden retriever like you? Then he won't be able to bear eating you."

Lu Wei thought of his master and boasted, "My master is the best. He's the best master in the world. I wonder when he'll come to take me back."

Joe couldn't resist trying to discourage him: "Your master might not want you anymore."

Lu Wei's eyes widened: "Nonsense, how could that be? You're the one who's unwanted!"

Qiao Ye: "..." Forget it, why bother arguing with a pet that only has the intelligence of a child.

However, Qiao Ye's words seemed to amplify Lu Wei's fear. He became sullen, restless, and lost his appetite and thirst.

Qiao also felt a little embarrassed and guilty about bullying Lu Wei.

Joe didn't see the blond Cohen again for a whole day, and he felt a little uneasy.

If you can't develop a bond with your owner, you might be abandoned at any time. Being abandoned could result in either being given to someone else to raise or being abandoned altogether.

He was originally a wandering native, so neither of these outcomes mattered to him.

Another day passed, and on the morning of the third day, Ruwei's owner came to pick him up.

They were tethered to the manor, and Joe saw a tall, red-haired Cohen man come over, enthusiastically embracing Ruwei, calling Ruwei's name and showering him with affectionate kisses and hugs—it was as cheesy as could be.

Ruwei was overjoyed, his gloomy expression of the past few days vanished, and he hugged his owner tightly, showering him with kisses.

At this moment, Joe didn't know whether to be envious or embarrassed. If that blond Cohen were to be so affectionate towards him, should he refuse or accept? That was the question.

Wei Liangguan held Xiao Guai in his arms, his tone indulgent: "My little darling, I was so worried about you! Were you scared? Will you dare to be naughty again? Hmm?"

When Wei Liangguan saw Qiao Ye, he was somewhat surprised to find that there was another wild animal there. Pointing at Qiao Ye, he asked Ji Fang, "Did you raise this? Where did you get it? Why is it so thin?"

Ji Fang briefly explained Qiao Ye's background. Wei Liangguan examined Qiao Ye and became curious: "Ji Fang, why don't you let me raise this one? Look at his eyes, I feel that he is very smart and has great potential. It would be a pity if you let him die."

Ji Fang glanced at the one he was holding and said, "You already have one."

Wei Liangguan said, "It doesn't matter if there's one more. Whether you raise one or two, it's the same. Besides, look, Xiao Guai can play with it."

Ji Fang refused: "I won't give him away. I found him and I plan to keep him."

Wei Liangguan touched Qiao Ye's head and skeleton, and found that Qiao Ye did not attack him at all. He was very excited: "Look how well-behaved he is. Give him to me. You will kill him if you raise him."

Ji Fang took Qiao Ye's rope, pulled him to his side, patted Qiao Ye's head, and refused, saying, "I won't see you off. I'll disappoint you. He's definitely alive and well."

Seeing Qiao Ye's obedient demeanor, Wei Liangguan exclaimed in surprise, "It's a miracle that an animal isn't afraid of you! This one is quite special, what's its name?"

After a moment's thought, Ji Fang chose a name similar to the two robots in his home and said, "Let's call him Ling Mu."

Wei Liangguan assumed that it was a name Ji Fang had chosen long ago, so he called Qiao Ye's name while touching his face and chin.

Joe was also a little confused. He kept hearing the word "Modo" and guessed that the blond owner had given him the name.

But what does "Modo" mean? Does it mean Wangcai (a lucky charm)? Or Xiaoqiang (a cockroach)?

Wei Liangguan is a Coen who likes the original humans. He was eager to keep him. Ji Fang originally planned to keep him for a while, but his friend kept saying that he would kill him, which made him unhappy.

Joe was unaware that the two Cohens wanted to take care of him. After saying goodbye to Ruwei, the pet room was all his.

Life seemed the same, except that his meals were now served in large portions with a wide variety of dishes, and he was taken out for walks by robots more often.

Lu Wei's earlier comment about being "too bored" was definitely not just being dramatic. With no one to talk to and nothing to do, life is really boring!

Aside from wandering around the room and the manor, Joe did nothing else.

Wandering around the manor, he was led around by that male robot with a leash, a situation no different from being in prison.

He felt that the blond Cohen man seemed to have forgotten about him, which wouldn't do.

That day, he strolled around the manor and saw his sugar daddy whom he hadn't seen for many days. He thought he should take the initiative to break the deadlock and at least let his sugar daddy know that he was there.

He was about to run over and get closer when he was pulled back by the leash around his neck. He heard the robot mutter something, but he didn't understand what it meant.

Unable to communicate, he resorted to physical gestures, so he unfastened the buckle on the leash around his neck and signaled to the robot that he was going to find his blond owner.

Then he ran towards Ji Fang.

Seeing that the original man easily untied the ropes and ran towards his master, Ling Yu hurriedly followed Qiao Ye, running wildly to catch him.

Qiao stopped beside Ji Fang, looked back at the robot chasing him, and hurriedly hid behind Ji Fang.

Ji Fang asked, "What's wrong?"

Ling Yu, holding the leash, said, "He just saw you, then suddenly untied the leash and ran towards you. It seems the leash can't hold him. Master, should we try a different way to restrain him?"

Joe watched the robot speak and held the leash, knowing roughly what they were saying. He gripped his sugar daddy's sleeve tightly, waved it to indicate he didn't want to be locked up anymore, but fearing they wouldn't understand, he pointed at the leash and shook his head frantically.

Ji Fang's clothes were pulled and shaken by the Yuanren's little hand, and he saw the Yuanren looking at him as if it could talk. This Yuanren seems to be quite smart.

Ji Fang understood Qiao Ye's meaning and said, "Ling Mu doesn't need to be locked up anymore; let him move around freely."

Ling Yu asked, "What if they run away again?"

Ji Fang said, "The manor's defenses have been upgraded, so he can't escape now."

As Joe watched the robot leave, he realized he wanted his freedom and was overjoyed. But when he turned around, he found that his master ignored him and left.

What does this mean? Are they planning to let him roam freely on the estate?

Qiao thought about it for a moment and realized that this wouldn't work. If she couldn't build a bond with her master, it would cause a lot of inconvenience in the future.

He wanted to understand the world, and with his master's help, or rather, as a shield, he could do so much faster.

He immediately caught up with his master, hesitated for a moment, and then grabbed his master's sleeve, because he had not been refused when he did so.
