Wasteland Garbage Planet 26 Recruitment

Wasteland Garbage Planet 26 Recruitment

"Dad, you're finally back?"

Kahn heard the noise coming from the door and hurriedly opened it to greet them.

It was already dark. They would have returned by this time in the past, but today, Kahn waited for a while before returning home.

Kahn worried about what had happened to them.

"We're fine." Kahn's mother tossed a large pile of alloy materials at the door, then unloaded the basket and sack from her back. She panted, "They said a lot of adults went out to collect materials. You work for Master Themis. Do you know them? They're the ones who are made entirely of metal, just like Master Victor's arm."

"Mom, those are robots," Kahn said. "They're not human. They're made entirely of metal. They were rebuilt from the materials you found."

"Huh?" Kahn's mother was stunned. "These materials are made of...? But they can walk and work on their own."

"Yes, Mom, robots are machines that look like humans. They are all machines. What makes them move is the energy crystals you picked up earlier..."

It took Kahn a lot of explanation to let them know that although these robots had mechanical arms similar to those of Lord Victor and his men, they would not become weapons, nor would they kill people at will like Lord Moira.

Kahn's father sat in the room, slowly drinking water to quench his thirst. After a long pause, he said, "Actually, Lady Moira also said this afternoon that those machines can't eat or drink. Look at you, you didn't believe it and insisted on snatching the materials from them."

Kahn's father complained, but Kahn's mother retorted: "You don't believe me? You grabbed the materials faster than I did!"

Seeing that an argument was about to break out, Kahn quickly called out to them, "Dad, Mom, listen to me."

The two were actually very tired. They rolled their eyes at each other and then took a piece of egg white pancake to eat.

Kahn said, "Lord Themis and his men have decided to build a city in our area, an oasis city. We should have news in a couple of days. Lord Sara will definitely put out a job posting, similar to the one they did when they dug the pond, but for different jobs. Some will be easy, some will be difficult, but one thing is for sure: the pay will be generous!"

Although Kahn was always working in the yard, the voices in the villa did not completely avoid him. During breaks, he could occasionally hear a few words coming out of the restaurant.

He was quick-witted and wrote it down.

Kahn's parents were moved: "Is it the same reward as digging a pond?"

Kahn subconsciously whispered, "I didn't hear much. It seems they're going to start recording something called 'work hours.' It means you work for them and keep track of the time. The longer you work, the more extra you can get. I heard it can be exchanged for potions."

Potion!

That's something you can't even exchange!

Because Kahn almost died in the rain last time, Kahn's parents were particularly concerned about this.

Unexpectedly, Kahn received such good news in advance when he went to work in the villa. Kahn's parents immediately made plans.

It's time to exchange supplies for a new week.

As usual, there was a long queue at the warehouse.

This time, Kahn's father did not queue up overnight in advance, for fear that staying up late would waste his energy for the whole day, and this time he came with Kahn's mother.

There was a lot of noise in the front of the team. After a while, the team didn't make any progress, and the people in front of Kahn's parents started to complain.

"What's going on? Why is the team moving so slowly this time?"

"After wasting so much time, my good spot is going to be taken away again today."

They already knew that robots would not snatch supplies from them, and they didn't see any robots while queuing this time, so everyone felt a lot more at ease. However, they still felt that the robots were fast and occupied good positions, which reduced their chances of picking up good materials.

The complaints spread from the back to the front, and soon the explanations spread from the front to the back.

"There are new rules this time. They say they want to recruit us to do some work."

"Isn't that just like digging a pond? This is a good thing. The people ahead can just sign up and it's done."

"No, no, no, it's different. This time, you won't get paid for a day's work. You have to keep working for them! If you work for them, you can't go out to collect materials anymore!"

"What!?"

The people in the front row were arguing about the same thing.

"How long will this job take you?"

"Can I go pick up materials tonight? It won't interfere with your work."

"What kind of work are you doing here? Don't you have any idea?"

Victor almost smashed the iron table, but the gang still couldn't calm down.

Sarah had clearly said many times that there were all kinds of jobs this time, planting vegetables and trees, building houses... There were too many types of work, and Sarah couldn't guarantee that everyone would do what they wanted. It also depended on everyone's understanding. The time and energy required for each job was different, and of course the remuneration would also be different. These had to be explained in detail after registration, but they insisted on saying it up front and would not sign up if it wasn't made clear.

If you don’t want to sign up, then don’t sign up. Just change your things and leave quickly. Why are you still stuck here?

Victor roared impatiently, "There's no room for bargaining here. If you're willing, sign up. If you're not, get out of here now, or I won't give you any exchange next time I pick up trash!"

The people in the front row were shocked and walked out of the team with the replaced supplies.

They are ignorant and confused about these "jobs". They don't know what to do or what they can do. If there were no generous rewards, they would have left long ago.

Corey, who left first, looked at everyone and couldn't help but say, "It's okay. They can't even explain the content of the work clearly. It must be harder and more tiring than digging a pond. Even if the pay is high, we won't be able to enjoy it."

I was so exhausted when digging the pond that I worked one day and rested the next.

"That's right. They don't even tell us how much the remuneration is. Maybe it's not even as much as when we were digging the pond." Someone agreed.

Hearing someone else share his thoughts, Curry suddenly gained confidence: "Yeah, what if we work too much for too little, and we're not allowed to pick up trash? By the time we're done, all the good materials will have been dug up by the robots!"

"Oh, so that's what they're thinking. They want us to quit and leave it all to the robots!"

"Right, otherwise why are they hiring workers at this time? They can't even explain clearly, and they don't allow us to pick up trash in our free time. Aren't they deliberately letting the robots pick up the good materials?"

"Hey, listen to me, don't go. If no one goes, let the robots do the work for them!"

"Haha, all the good materials like this are left for us to pick up!"

"Corey is still smart!"

People are always afraid of everything unknown.

Instead of doing that job that requires taking care of everything, it is better for them to do what they are good at, picking up trash. At least they won’t starve to death.

Several people laughed and lifted up Corey, who was the first to figure out the key. Corey became more and more proud, and felt that he had an extra burden of taking care of everyone.

He thought for a moment and said, "We need to unite. Tell everyone you know quickly and don't let them fool you."

"Okay, I'll listen to you!"

No one showed up. Sarah had been promoting the event since morning, but up to now, not a single person had signed up.

Even Kahn's parents, who had learned the news in advance and had made preparations, were a little worried when they saw that no one had signed up.

"Why isn't there anyone who signed up?"

"Who knows, maybe..."

Kahn's father patted his wife's hand, signaling her not to tell anyone that her son had revealed the news in advance.

Just as I was muttering, I suddenly heard someone shout, "I want to sign up!"

Everyone looked over.

Kahn's father recognized him: "Is it Leo? The one who goes to the movies every day."

Leo had obviously just come from the direction of the garbage dump. He lived with his sister, and his sister was here to exchange supplies this week. He set out to pick up garbage early in the morning, and only heard people discussing recruiting workers when he climbed halfway up the mountain.

He didn't even bother to pick up his tools, but ran over, sweating profusely, and asked, "They said they're hiring vegetable growers, right? Is it similar to growing flowers?"

Seeing his eyes sparkle, Sarah asked, "Can you grow vegetables?"

"I... I learned a lot from watching movies about growing flowers. I think I can do it!" Leo said with a smile, "I want to sign up!"

This was the first person to apply, so Sarah wrote his name first and noted the words "growing vegetables".

Looking at Leo's expectant smile, Kahn's parents felt uncomfortable for a moment.

They wanted to sign up for the potion whose authenticity they didn't know, and because Kahn was working at the villa, they wanted to "support" Lord Themis, so they wanted to sign up on their own initiative.

In essence, they are just like those who are unwilling to sign up, and have no desire to do unfamiliar work.

Does anyone actually look forward to doing that kind of work?

-

At the evening report, Xie Yunsui had only received applications from less than fifty people.

Moira knew that the space for the Oasis City planned by Themis was totally insufficient with only fifty people, even if a thousand robots were added.

There are some jobs that robots cannot do.

Her eyes fell on the registration form and she said, "Sara told me that among these people, only the first one, Leo, really seems to want to grow vegetables. Of the rest, most of them are the people who dug the pond last time. They must have signed up because they thought the pay this time would be good. A few said they didn't want to pick up trash every day and wanted a change of pace, so they came here as an adventure."

"Oh, and Kahn's parents, they've all signed up."

Xie Yunsui: "Leo?"

Moira wandered among the Rust people. Many houses in the shantytowns were not soundproofed, so she had a good understanding of the situation among the Rust people.

"Leo's parents died a long time ago, and he lives with his sister. They're equally hardworking and diligent at collecting materials. In the shantytown, they're living a relatively good life." Moira thought for a moment, then added, "He's the only one who watches the documentary you asked Ethan to play every day, without missing a beat."

Themis looked up and said, "Then assign him to the Black Grass Field first."

The so-called black grass fields are soils that have been improved by black grass. Most of the toxic components in the soil have been absorbed. The soil is now of poor quality and can be used for planting.

Now, we will test the vegetables, fruits and melons that can be grown on this piece of land, and do observation, analysis, and data testing.

The environment and soil are relatively harsh. Seeds that grow well in other worlds may not germinate here, or may grow into strange shapes.

Every experiment here tests one's ability and mental stress, and it really requires someone who is passionate about working here.

"Other people will be allocated newly cleared land first, and I'll teach them how to plant black grass first."

Moira said, "Don't we have to plant trees and carry water? Fifty people are still not enough, right?"

Xie Yunsui smiled and said, "It doesn't matter. There will be more people here soon."

As expected, this batch of recruited Rust people were not seen on the garbage mountain. Curry and others frequently communicated with each other and found that they had not been there for almost a week.

It was a rare opportunity for Corey to meet Leo's sister, so he couldn't help but ask about her.

"Luoya, is your brother...still alive?"

The slender girl raised her head and glared at him.
