Chapter 114 If You Don’t Like It, Have Someone Send It to You Again
Xu Yueqing's eyes searched the living room. The next second, the door of the study was pushed open and Ji Bingqian walked out.
He was dressed in grey casual clothes, lacking his usual sharpness. Perhaps he had just finished his work, and there was a barely perceptible trace of fatigue between his brows.
His gaze also turned over at this time.
When their eyes meet.
The hug from last night instantly flooded Xu Yueqing's mind. She could feel her cheeks getting slightly hot, and her eyes subconsciously wanted to avoid him.
But Ji Bingqian walked straight towards her.
"Breakfast is on the table. I'll take you to the research institute after that." His voice was as steady as ever, easily breaking the inexplicable awkwardness in the air.
Xu Yueqing suppressed his uneasiness, raised his hand and pointed at the two rows of spectacular clothes hangers, with a hint of shock still in his tone.
"Did you send these?"
Ji Bingqian looked in the direction of her finger.
"Don't you like it?" He asked back, and repeated the familiar line, "If you don't like it, have someone send it to you again."
As he spoke, he seemed to remember something and paused, his gaze returning to her face.
"You said you didn't bring any clothes last night," he explained. "Today is your first day at the institute, so you have to dress nicely."
"I didn't know what style you liked, so I asked someone to send some extra."
Sent some more...
Xu Yueqing looked at his overly handsome face, then at the clothes that almost turned the living room into a warehouse of luxury goods, and for a moment she didn't know what to say.
Does this man have some huge misunderstanding about Yidiandian?
On the first day of reporting to the institute, you always have to dress decently.
But just such a simple sentence, like a subtle warm current, hit Xu Yueqing's heart without any preparation.
The area around my heart suddenly felt warm.
Over the years, she'd been like a wound-up top. Her mother's illness, Jiang Chejin's studies and life, even her brother Xuzhou's occasional unreasonable behavior—everything weighed on her shoulders. She was used to arranging everything, used to considering others' needs, yet no one had ever stopped to ask her what she needed.
Even Jiang Chejin, the man she had cared for for several years, would only enjoy her efforts with a clear conscience, and then complain that the clothes she bought were not high-end enough.
But Ji Bingqian, the man who bound her to work by a marriage contract, thought that today was her first day and she needed a decent set of clothes.
This feeling of being cared for and considered by others is strange, yet warm.
Since he has arranged everything, it would be too hypocritical for her to refuse.
Xu Yueqing suppressed the complicated emotions surging in her heart and curled the corners of her lips at him.
"Thanks."
Without saying anything more, she turned and walked towards the two magnificent rows of clothing racks, her fingertips brushing over the silky silk and soft cashmere one by one, finally stopping on a white suit.
That's it.
Simple, capable, suitable for work occasions without appearing too ostentatious.
Xu Yueqing took off her clothes and turned back to the bedroom. The moment the door closed, she let out a heavy breath.
She put on the clothes, which were tailor-made for her and fit her perfectly.
She walked to the full-length mirror in the room, and the person in the mirror made her lose consciousness for a moment.
The neat suit outlines her slender yet powerful figure, making her look taller.
